25 Magician's Folly

Throwing away my questions, for now, I worm my way back into the walls of the dungeon as I do. As I head back to my home, I still can't stop thinking about how mysterious all of this actually is. So many questions need to be asked, but I keep ignoring the obvious cracks in my supposedly perfectly fine world and end up pus.h.i.+ng those questions aside. This honestly wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for Jeremy making it fairly obvious that I'm not getting the full picture. Basically I'm on a need-to-know basis, and I'm not so sure if I like it.

Ah, I'm home. Temporarily putting this issue aside, let's take a look at that quest thing. Jeremy, show me the money!

[Hidden quest accomplished: Magician's Folly. Status successful.]

[Would you like to receive awards?]

Umm. Yes? Are they good?

[Rewards redeemed for Magician's Folly]

[Magician's Folly: The downfall of all mages is mana. A formless semi-matter, mana is the basis for all phenomena known as magic. Mana is taken in and shaped by a caster in two ways, innate or acquired. Innate magic casting requires less mental effort with the downside of requiring an organ or core to shape the originally formless mana into an element. Acquired magic casting requires manually shaping the formless mana within oneself into an element. Though acquired magic casting is much more versatile, it comes at a higher cost and requires above-average mental fort.i.tude. Mana, however, is limited by the vessel of all things, such as to limit the power of a single mage. This is where mages all try to improve, capacity. What use is a mage out of power, but for cannon fodder?]

[Quest objective: increase mana points to a value of five or higher (completed)]

[Quest rewards: (1)Vial of [REDACTED], +2 increase to all basic stats, t.i.tle ]

[New t.i.tle acquired: Folly Magician]

[Folly Magician: Decreases cost of all magic by a factor of 1.1]

[Would you like to equip the new t.i.tle?]

h.e.l.l yeah! I have very little idea of what this actually means but I'm not stressing! This entire thing screams of an upgrade! Upgrades, people. Upgrades! Who is going to say no to more strength? Let's not even get into the stat increases either. Plus two to all stats? That can be expensive! Or at least I think so. I obviously haven't had any time to get a reference, so I should be more conservative. Eh, to h.e.l.l with it. I'm f.u.c.king excited. It's not every day I get rewards from Jeremy, so I'm going to make the best of it.

Hmm, equip t.i.tle! I didn't have a t.i.tle option in my status before, and I a.s.sume that's where it will go, so that's pretty dope. That being said, have you got anything else for me, Jeremy? Any cool new tricks to entertain me in this s.h.i.+thole dungeon? It's getting really boring down here.

[Would the user please improve self prowess to unlock more effective improvements to user experience.]

Cool. I thought you were going to be like that, but I didn't expect you to be so sa.s.sy. I mean, could you not be even a little more receiving? It might make living here alone just a little bit bearable. Seriously, even a pet or companion would liven me up a bit. The way things are going, I might as well just go insane. You would like that, wouldn't you? Oh well. I suppose I'll just take a nap then. Gotta get some sleep!
