146 Turn Your Head And Tables Turn

She had fallen in an abyss, struggling in fear and despair.

"Red went to rescue him. He is in the bas.e.m.e.nt." An official told the captain.

Ira rushed to the collapsed construction. An official grasped her arms, "No, get back?"

"Let me go." She cried in arms of the man as he pulled her away.

"I have to save..." sullen, weak as she pleaded. She kneeled down on the rumble, her hands fell on her sides as she broke down.

Powerless and desperate she lost control over things.

Why? G.o.d, why?

Why did you even bring me in the past if I can't change it?

Time itself is a paradox. Unpredictability its weapon, turning a well-settled world in chaos.

Turn your head, and the tables turn…

What's real helplessness and desperation she knew for the first time in life.

When you can't control anything? Nothing gets resolved, and she's back to square one.

Will history repeat itself? Or like a b.u.t.terfly effect create chaos to destroy everything?

Will Reeya die?

A deep dread rose in her heart.

"Don't die..." she uttered a soft sigh.

Her empty eyes stared at the scene. For a moment she imagined it crumble as it did in her dream.

The hand hanging on the side turned into a fist. They won't let her go in, but she had to do something. She stood and walked to the group of firefighters.

A few moments ago,

As the car approached the scene, Ira and Reeya saw the commotion.

From the time they left to the time they got here was only five minutes.

"Stay in the car. Don't get out." Reeya parked the car in the corner and instructed. Now that she was already on the scene, it's better for her to a.s.sure her safety.

"Ahh... Reeya," Just as she reached to open the door Ira cried holding her stomach.

"What happened?" She looked distressed.

"I'm bleeding," Again then her response was as expected. She turned and asked, "Where? Are you okay?"

With firmness, she bent over and reached for the keys. In a moment the hand holding her stomach pulled the lever, she descended from the car. The next instant she slammed her door and pressed the security lock.

Perplexed by the action, Reeya looked visibly stunned. Panic seized her mind, she got concerned over Ira's security and yelled, "Don't go its dangerous..."

She tried to open the door to no avail. Ira's car had a lock system she had installed recently to trap her in the car and keep her away from the site.

By the time she realized what was going on, Reeya was shut in the car.

Upon facing a calm Ira, her face painted a dejected look.

Her expression changed she gasped in shock.

"Why? Ira let me out. It's not funny." She banged the gla.s.s window, but the gla.s.s confined all her voice.

Ira turned around to avoid her hurtful appearance.

Sorry Reeya, that was the last option.

Now that Reeya was safe, she gave off a sigh of relief. Till the time the situation came under control, she decided to guard her.

She closed her eyes. Her mind ignored the ongoing screams, sirens, and upheaval.

Regardless of the troubles, she could complete her part. Now she had to wait till everything gets resolved.

Ira's phone rang. It was Vivan. He would be worried if he heard the sirens of the ambulance, she didn't dare to pick up.

Now she wished for everything to end fast. By the end of the night, she would lean against his chest listening to his heartbeat.

Yeh it kept on ringing. She picked up. Though her rational mind told her not to, she wanted to hear his voice.

She placed her hand on the mike muting the surrounding voices.

"Ira." She heard a deep grunt.

"There is a box in the second drawer beside our bed." After a brief pause, he continued, "I will be late today. Don't wait. Sleep early." The phone got cut off.

Her hand trembled, she subconsciously pressed the lock and before she could realize, Reeya got out of the car.
