It was great to be the Zhai family’s daughter-in-law. The family had hired a caretaker, and Qiao Nan could be lazy about even picking up a call. Didn’t Qiao Zijin’s reason for forcing Ding Jiayi to stay in the capital have something to do with her? Now that Ding Jiayi was gone, Qiao Zijin lacked a helper. It would be a wonder if Qiao Zijin wasn’t infuriated. Ding Jiayi was Qiao Zijin’s best bet.

“Something along those lines.” If not for Ding Jiayi telling her dad and her dad telling her about it, she wouldn’t have known that Qiao Zijin had gotten involved with w.a.n.g Yang.

Qiao Zijin sighed. “Qiao Nan, I’m really sick and I’m still in the hospital. I’d like to have a more formal talk with you regarding the Zhu family’s inheritance. I can’t deny that w.a.n.g Yang indeed offered me a good amount of money to persuade you, but I think that I won’t be the only one who’ll benefit from this. We should learn to be content with what we have. If you’re greedy, you might end up getting nothing at all in the end. Anyway, you didn’t do anything to earn or deserve it. It’s better for you to stick to a more practical and safer option.”

“Qiao Nan, I’m not scaring you. If you’re willing to discuss the matter with w.a.n.g Yang, you’ll still be able to get some money. But if you go to court, you might not even win the case. If you lose, you won’t even get a single cent. You’d better consider your options carefully now that it’s still possible to change your mind and accept w.a.n.g Yang’s offer. Qiao Nan took a sip of water and comforted Miao Jing.
