He wasn’t sure why but he felt a sense of closeness towards her. As though, even if he had to give the entire Long Group to Xinxin right now, he would be willing.

His sharp gaze then s.h.i.+fted towards the silent Bai Jingrou. Once more, he felt keenly that her intentions were impure.

He recalled that Bai Jingrou had provided her and her father’s, Long Xuan’s, hair.

He had a DNA test conducted with that along with his own hair and confirmed that her father was indeed his son. According to the results, she was also certainly her granddaughter.

Bai Jingrou was absolutely a blood relative of the Long family. During the DNA test, he had sent his own subordinate to observe the entire process. The results could not be wrong.

This was the truth. Why was it then, that he did not feel close to Jingrou at all?

Long Jingyuan glanced at Bai Qinghao. Just by sitting there, Bai Qinghao’s charisma was undeniable. He was a n.o.ble and powerful presence and was definitely a king among men!

At times, he truly envied the Old Bai for having such an outstanding grandson.

On the other hand, he only had a granddaughter whom he did not like very much.

Still, it was a blessing that he had a granddaughter. The Long family barely had any children left.

“You didn’t even address me as ‘Grandfather’ when you saw me.” Long Jingyuan turned to Bai Qinghao sternly. It was clear who he was addressing this to.

“Director Long.” Bai Qinghao only gave him a polite response.

“Even Fang Xinxin calls me Grandfather Long. You’re so impolite.”

Bai Qinghao was unfazed. He responded coldly. “If Director Long is unhappy, please feel free to leave.”

Long Jingyuan was speechless. He rubbed his beard and glared at him. “You… I won’t be petty with a junior.”

“Just because you are older, it doesn’t mean you can take advantage of your seniority.”

“You have a strong character.” Long Jingyuan did not become angry.

Instead, he praised him with a smile. He then sighed. “It’s a pity. If only you could become my grandson-in-law.”

Bai Jingrou suddenly blushed. She spoke shyly. “Grandfather…” She also wished she could marry Bai Qinghao.

Bai Qinghao glanced at Bai Jingrou’s shy and bashful expression. His gaze was filled with mocking. “I’m not interested in that granddaughter of yours.”

“Cousin…” Bai Jingrou was bluntly humiliated. Her eyes reddened in grievance.

She originally a.s.sumed Long Jingyuan would stand up for her. However, she was unaware that even Long Jingyuan himself hoped for a different granddaughter. It was a pity that matters of blood relation could not be altered.

He patted her shoulder in comfort. “Jingrou ah, Grandfather was wrong. I made an inappropriate joke.”

“It’s alright.” Bai Jingrou felt upset internally, but she supported Long Jingyuan to sit on the couch. “Grandfather, please sit down. You must be tired. I’ll ma.s.sage your shoulders for you.”

She then began pressing on his shoulders.

Bai Qinghao lifted his wrist and checked the time. It was already midnight. He frowned. “Xinxin, go home and rest. It won’t be good if you attend our wedding with a pair of dark eye circles.”

“But Grandfather…” She spoke up in concern.

“I’ll stay by his side.” Bai Qinghao responded. “My parents will come by soon. I’ll go home to rest after.”

She nodded. “En. Then I’ll go next door to visit my father for a while before returning to the Fang family’s villa.”
