There was still no news on Du Chengyi. Although Xu Fengnian was doing his best to find him.

Xu Fengnian even contacted Du Chengyi's family in Singapore. His family had said that he had been away from home for five years.

As far as they knew he was still in Huaxia but they didn't know where exactly he was.

He had kept contact with them to the minimal.

...

December 20th.

One song was circulating and resounding throughout the country, it had spread from the north to the south of the country. Almost everyone was singing it and the singer was none other than Yang Kun. The song's name was Moonlight.

Yang Kun's fame had soared, his status had slowly crept up and even slightly surpa.s.sing Ling Ming's.

Following the release of the single Yang Kun released two new alb.u.ms in quick succession, making a total of ten songs, all of which were written by Zhang Xiaohua but were composed by Gao Xiaosong.

Zhang Xiaohua never imagined that these songs would be so similar to the original ones. No matter the tune or the lyrics, they complemented each other and were impeccable.

Zhang Xiaohua thought that no one in the world except him could create the backing track for these songs, let alone without his own guidance.

This was what had destroyed w.a.n.g Jingwen's songs back then, the odd backing track Gao Xiaosong had created then had ruined the songs.

But now it turned out that Zhang Xiaohua was wrong he had underestimated Gao Xiaosong's ability.

But this brought a bigger issue to light. The future.

With more and more people studying and a.n.a.lysing the music they created, it was just a matter of time before others managed to imitate or even improve on the styles they had created.

His advantage here was that he had brought refres.h.i.+ng change to the music scene which had been stagnant and stuck in its ways.

He had originally thought he would have a few years before significant compet.i.tion appeared but now a timer had appeared above his head.

He had to make the most of his lead and use it before the pack caught up.

....

9 o'clock, HuaXiang Entertainment.

In his office, Zhang Xiaohua opened QuoDuo and moved over to the music section.

Finding Yang Kun's name he clicked on his page only to find the songs from HuaXiang still on there along with the two new alb.u.ms that had just been released.

Zhang Xiaohua clearly remembered telling Xu Fengnian to inform QuoDuo to take down all the songs Yang Kun had published with HuaXiang so why the h.e.l.l were they still up.

Filled with anger Zhang Xiaohua called in Xu Fengnian and asked: "What happened? Why are Yang Kun's song still on QuoDuo? Didn't I say to get them taken down."

Xu Fengnian's sighed and said: "I was just about to come find you, we notified QuoDuo a week ago but we received the cold shoulder.

But an hour ago the finally replied saying, that since they have received no complaints from Yang Kun they plan to continue keeping the songs up until further notice.

The truth of the matter is while we might not want to make money of Yang Kun they do after all he brings them a lot of money. Everyone is motivated by interests after all. They just signed a new contract with New Century as well for 50:50."

"Dammit" shouted Zhang Xiaohua.

Yang Kun's new alb.u.m on QuoDuo was priced at 200 yuan per alb.u.m, which was twice the price of Ling Ming's alb.u.m the download numbers had already exceeded 10,000,000 due to New Century's heavy advertis.e.m.e.nt push and Yang Kun's popularity.

"They hinted to me also that New Century Entertainment has offered to bear the burden for them if we decide to take legal action against them.

They would provide lawyers and even take up the fees incurred. I reached out to a few friends of mine and from what I've heard, their aim is just to draw out the lawsuit.

New Century has an elite selection of lawyers to choose from and even if we won it would be after a long lawsuit which while they can afford it we simply can't.

A lawsuit at this time is not advisable, we already have enough bad press. Also we can't afford to cancel the contract with QuoDuo, news of another contract getting cancelled coming out which it almost certainly will damage our reputation.

Such a bad rep for the company which will seriously hinder the company's future development. So..."

"So... you want me to let this go?" said Zhang Xiaohua with unwillingness written across his face.
