Chapter 529: Qi Zhenbai’s Suspicions

The two went back to the apartment. Chi Shuyan had eaten dinner earlier, but she was hungry now. On the way, Qi Zhenbai went to a restaurant to get some takeout.

Most restaurants were already closed at that hour, and there were only light refreshments available. However, when the manager of the century-old restaurant saw President Qi come in person, he immediately instructed the head chef to specially make something.

Satisfied, Chi Shuyan returned to the apartment, put the takeout on the table, and started to eat supper ravenously as she asked the man in front of her if he wanted some.

Qi Zhenbai’s family upbringing was good. He didn’t snack after dinner, unless he was at some social gathering, so he refused without thought.

Seeing that the man in front of her really wasn’t eating, Chi Shuyan dove into her food.

Although it wasn’t as good as what her imperial chef made, the culinary skills of the century-old restaurant’s head chef weren’t just for show; the food still tasted very good.

Chi Shuyan didn’t know if it was because she was too hungry, but the more she ate, the more delicious the food seemed.

Qi Zhenbai sat across from his wife and quietly watched her eat. For some reason, he suddenly thought of what his mother had asked him a day or two ago.

“How has your wife’s appet.i.te been recently? Is she throwing up after eating, or is her appet.i.te especially good? Usually, pregnant women have an especially good appet.i.te at the start!”

He hadn’t thought much of it at the time and couldn’t answer the question, but he thought of how they hadn’t used a condom the first time, and his wife now had a huge appet.i.te; could it be that his wife really had conceived?

With this in mind, Qi Zhenbai’s eyes burned even more as they swept over his wife’s flat stomach, and he couldn’t help but look a bit excited.

The man’s gaze was probably too hot, but it was hard for Chi Shuyan to ignore it as she ate. She looked up and saw that the man in front of her seemed a little off.

Chi Shuyan put down her chopsticks. “What’s wrong with you?”

“Is the food good? Do you still want more?” Qi Zhenbai asked.

Chi Shuyan shook her head. “No, I’m almost full!”

Chi Shuyan felt the man’s eyes inexplicably sweep over her stomach. Chi Shuyan wanted to say she wasn’t pregnant, but if she brought it up, the man would probably think too much.

She might as well say nothing. After eating and drinking her fill, she looked at the time and prepared to watch TV to digest the food before she went to take a shower and sleep.

This man was always busy with work. Seeing that he had the time to watch TV with her now, however, Chi Shuyan simply thought to let him take a shower first. After he was done, she went to wash up as well.

Except for news and focused interviews, Qi Zhenbai wasn’t interested in anything like entertainment or other TV programs; watching the entertainment news with Chi Shuyan tonight was a rare event.

Chi Shuyan was looking at recent entertainment news. The headlines tonight were about a disheveled Zhou Manning being sent to the hospital in an ambulance from a hotel room. She had probably been in too disheveled a state when she came out. The media exaggerated and came up with all sorts of groundless speculations, and the reports were very ambiguous.

In addition, Zhou Manning’s private life hadn’t been very clean in the past few years, so the media reports were even more wanton. It was likely that after tonight, Zhou Manning’s reputation would fall by half.
