“Kang Meizhi! Shut up! My mother was your sister-in-law! It's not good for you to speak ill of her like that. Bai Xiaojin deserved it! Tell her not to mess with me again or I'll make her suffer the consequences!” After delivering her threat, Bai Qingyan hung up on her aunt.

Both mother and daughter were bad seeds.

Since her childhood, her aunt had been insulting her and her mother. Her cousin had pushed her down a flight of stairs, wanting to harm her and Gu Yezhi's child. She was the culprit of Bai Qingyan's miscarriage.

Bai Qingyan's expression distorted with disdain. Bai Xiaojin must have complained to her mother last night.

She could not help but ponder about last night's actions. If she had known her cousin would tattle on her, she wouldn't have dragged Gu Yezhi into their spat. Neither would she have tolerated him stepping on one of her cousin's legs. Bai Qingyan didn't want to make her uncle sad. He sincerely cared about her.

Bai Qingyan tried to restrain her turbulent emotions and continued to read the script.

Kang Meizhi stared at the phone, her expression was unfathomable. She couldn't believe that that b.i.t.c.h had hung up on her! “Hey! Xiaojin, that little b.i.t.c.h Bai Qingyan is so arrogant now!”

Bai Xiaojin pouted as she extended a hand to ma.s.sage the leg Gu Yezhi kicked last night. She remarked, “She managed to climb into Gu Yezhi's bed. That's our company's extremely difficult to please boss. That's why she's so arrogant! Bai Qingyan is as cheap as her mother, I don't know how many men she slept with to get to where she is! b.i.t.c.h!”

Kang Meizhi furiously retorted, “Xiaojijn, you have to expose her! She is so unkind to you! Didn't you say your boss was obsessed with being clean? Bai Xiaojin's eyes lit up. “Mom, you're right! I'll go after I rest for two days! Hmph, Bai Qingyan, just wait!” She laughed.

Suddenly the sound of footsteps came from beyond the door. Bai Jian had returned.

“Have you seen my phone? I've been looking for it all morning, but I haven't recovered it yet.”

“Here, take it! I used it to call your wretched little niece! You're such a fool. You don't even know where your phone is! Bai Qingyan, that b.i.t.c.h, bullied Xiaojin, you have to teach her a lesson!” Kang Meizhi threw the phone at her husband.

Bai Jian's face darkened, and he raised a hand as if he was going to slap her. “How many times have I told you to stop talking about Yan Yan like that?! Yan Yan is my sister's daughter, so she's my daughter! Do you really want to make me lose my patience and hit you?!”

“Come on, hit me! I dare you to hit me!” Kang Meizhi was certain that Bai Jian had a weak personality, surely he wouldn't strike her. She was so certain she even leaned her face closer to him

“Do you truly think I won't hit you?!” Bai Jian stared at his wife. She genuinely didn't believe him!

Kang Meizhi could scold him in any way she wanted, but not Yan Yan. Yan Yan had no father or mother. She was too pathetic! He didn't defend her, but n.o.body defended her either.

“Mom, Dad, please stop arguing!” Bai Xiaojin quickly hauled them apart and embraced Bai Jian, putting up her ‘good girl' facade.

“Dad, what Mom said is true. You should give Bai Qingyan some advice. She's still young, she shouldn't go down the wrong path. It could destroy her entire life.”

Bai Jian stared at his daughter's face, reluctantly smothered his anger and nodded.

In the afternoon, Bai Qingyan received a call from her uncle.

This time it was genuinely him and not his wife. Once she heard his voice, her eyes reddened, but she did not cry. She sat on the sofa with a pillow in her arms and said, “I'm sorry, Uncle, it's nothing. I'm married, you know. Shall we meet?”

When Bai Qingyan and Gu Yezhi got married in T State, they invited Bai Jian to the wedding. Neither her aunt nor her cousin knew about it.

Bai Jian knew that the man who married Bai Qingyan was very rich, so when he overheard Bai Xiaojin's words last night he didn't take them seriously.
