Pregnant! Pregnant? Pregnant!?

Yuan Xi took a deep breath. He must have misheard. What Aunt Lin said might have said a h.o.m.onym, maybe bad luck? Is he unlucky?

Well, he has had some bad luck lately. Somehow he was dressed, somehow he was kidnapped, somehow he hijacked a plane, and they he slept for 8 months, and then he somehow got fat…

Fat…Fat, oh sh&t, fat ah!

Yuan Xi felt something in his stomach move through the skin. Sh&t, it's moving, it's moving,.. what is this situation?!

He looked at Lin Suyun with a bitter face and said: "Aunt Lin, please don't make fun of me. I'm a man, truly and honestly. This is not a lie!"

Lin Suyun looked at him with difficulty, nodded, and answered: "I know, but you're really pregnant."

"You don't know that, you can't know that for certain! How could you say such a thing if you knew it? There's no such thing as a pregnant man! Aunt Lin, I beg you, please don't make fun of me, this isn't funny at all!"

To tell the truth, all the chaotic things [that occurred before] didn't make Yuan Xi collapse, but this matter was pus.h.i.+ng him to the edge of collapsing. What is this? His worldview collapsed in an instant, okay?

"Xiaoxi, calm down. I know it's hard to accept, but it's the truth. Listen to me carefully."

Lin Suyun's voice was very soft. She may have been a strong woman in the past, but she now took out her tender and gentle side just to pacify Yuan XI.

Yuan Xi nodded, dazed. He really needed to calm down.

"We fled Beijing's airs.p.a.ce with the antimatter energy bars and entered a distorted s.p.a.ce, at which time we were all asleep, depending on the large amount of nutrient solution in the escape pods to survive. At the last minute, Yucheng reluctantly set a course by using the stars.h.i.+p's AI system, but the locational coordinates in a distorted s.p.a.ce don't correspond to real s.p.a.ce at all. Even though a route is set, it's difficult to reach the [intended] destination."

After a pause, Lin Suyun added: "We have been wandering in s.p.a.ce for 8 months, which is terrible span of time. Eventually, even if we get out of the distorted s.p.a.ce, we may be lost in the vastness of the universe forever."

Lin Suyun explained [the situation] very carefully and plainly. Yuan Xi understood their dangerous situation and listened more attentatively.

"However, our luck is very good. With only 1 in a million chance of survival, we eventually left the distorted s.p.a.ce and returned to real s.p.a.ce, and we haven't even flown out of the Federation [s.p.a.ce]. This planet is an O-cla.s.s marine planet belonging to the Federation. Although it is an undeveloped primitive planet, it is on the Federation map and it is a habitable planet. All of this happened to us, and it was G.o.d helping us."

Lin Suyun's eyes feel onto Yuan Xi's abdomen. She suddenly softened her voice and said: "This little thing actually accompanied you this whole time and survived in such a difficult situation." Her voice became softer and softer. "It's a miracle, the miracle of life, Xiaoxi."

"After the stars.h.i.+p landed on this planet, Yucheng and I checked all the escape pods and found him (the little bun) here, which I never thought of. But, I know that you are a man. It's too fantastic to know that something like this happened. I was afraid to let anyone else know of it, so I didn't wake you up immediately but woke you up after things settled down."

Lin Suyun looked at Yuan Xi and finally said: "Before you woke up, I did a preliminary examination on you. He is healthy, lovely, and full of vitality."

After [saying] that, she took out a small silver disc, gently stroked it, and a three-dimensional image emerged.

Yuan Xi looked at the image in front of him, and his eyes opened [wide] in surprise.

That's a small person…little [bun]…Yuan Xi didn't even know how to describe it. It's a little baby, curled up there, holding his hand in both hands and curling up her two fat legs. This whole person slept soundly and quietly.

Yuan Xi could even clearly see his face with eyes tightly closed, a small nose, and a small mouth; the whole face was small and lovely.

Coincidentally, it seemed like he could feel someone watching him, and he (YX) moved. Though his (the baby's) eyes were still closed, the little land moved a little and stuck to his little face, pus.h.i.+ng the little cheek. Suddenly the little bun's mouth pouted.

Yuan Xi watched and the corners of his mouth unconsciously rose [into a smile]. This little thing is really cute.

He was laughing, but the little thing didn't stop. This time, it was not a small movement of the arm, but of the little fat leg. With great effort, that little foot kicked up fiercely.

Yuan Xi had a bad feeling in his heart. Sure enough, he immediately felt a throbbing pain in his belly. … Yuan Xi's face was suddenly covered with black lines*.

Looking away, Lin Suyun also laughed: "This little guy is very naughty."

Hearing Lin Suyun's words, Yuan Xi's originally relaxed mood tensed up again. He looked at the little fellow in the image and realized that this was his own child. A strong sense of unreality overcame him, but… But he actually felt it, it was very real.

Lin Suyun looked away from the image and said softly to Yuan Xi: "Xiaoxi, he's grown so big before you knew it. He is already a complete life, an independent individual. I hope…" After a pause, she said very harshly: "Don't give up on him."

This sentence was like a warning light, illuminating Yuan Xi's chaotic brain in an instant.

Give upon him? How could he give up?

Thinking this, Yuan Xi suddenly looked at Lin Suyun. The blankness in his eyes receded, and he firmly said: "Impossible. I won't deprive him of the right to exist."

He spoke plainly; there was no [hint of] falsity in his straightforward statement. He never thought to do so. At first, he was surprised, unbelieving, dismayed, and even felt that G.o.d made a joke out of him, but he never entertained the thought of killing him (his son).

He lost his parents as a child. He lived 24 years alone, carefree but exceptionally lonely. He swore that if he had children, he would absolutely love and spoil them, compensating for what he himself had lost.

However, after he came to understand his feelings, he found that he couldn't fall in love with women and that his s.e.xual orientation was different [than what was conventional]. But even so, he thought that he would adopt a child after he found his partner.

Now, he really had his own child. Although it was so unexpected, so incredible, it was also so wonderful at the same time.

Yuan Xi took a deep breath and calmly said: "Aunt Lin, I've calmed down. I know what you mean. Don't worry, I won't abandon him. I'll raise him and try my best to bring him up well**."

Hearing what Yuan Xi said, Lin Suyun's frown finally relaxed. She liked Yuan Xi from when she first saw him. He had a baby face and big eyes and, looking at the corners of his mouth, she knew he was accustomed to smiling. This was a cheerful and pleasant young man. The events on the pa.s.senger s.h.i.+p before made her see him in a new light***.

This was not a child, this was a man, a strong, brave, courageous, and resourceful man who loves life.

Yuan Xi's att.i.tude toward his unborn child just now made her thoroughly appreciate him. Such fantastic things would cause anyone to be timid and fearful, but Yuan Xi was just shocked then figured things out and took responsibility without shrinking back.

The more she looked at Yuan Xi, the more she liked him, especially since Yuan Xi was surnamed Yuan and Yucheng's (her husband) full name was Yuan Yucheng. What kind of coincidence was that? It seemed like something in the unseen world was pulling them [together].

If her and Yucheng's children were still alive, they would be as old [as him]. It just…Lin Suyun sighed in her heart that she was not so blessed after all.

Putting these emotions [and thoughts] away, Lin Suyun asked Yuan Xi: "Xiaoxi, do you want to contact your parents and family first?"

Parents and family…Yuan Xi was slightly shocked and then shook his head. He had 15 years to get used to it****, so there was nothing to be sad about, especially now that he wasn't in his old world.

So he calmly answered: "Aunt Lin, I've been alone since a long time ago."

Alone…Yuan Xi said it lightly, but Lin Suyun felt suddenly moved in her heart. A feeling of pity surged up that she almost blurted out a sentence, which she was able to hold back.

Finally, she changed the subject: "In that case, you can make your own decisions. If you believe in Aunt Lin, you can give me full authority and wait for the baby to come with peace of mind."

Yuan Xi was grateful for Lin Suyun's words. He nodded without hesitation: "Of course I believe you, Aunt Lin."

Lin Suyun smiled and said: "Good boy. Don't be afraid and just go back to sleep."

Yuan Xi would say that it's impossible to not be afraid in such uncharted waters, but he had always known that fear was useless. Anyway, it's just a knife; just grit your teeth and get through it!

What Yuan Xi didn't realize was that he really slept without any pain. He thought Lin Suyun's words were just to comfort him, but he didn't expect them to be true.

What he didn't know was that he was asleep, but the money spent in the process was exorbitant.

It was just an undeveloped primitive planet with very low level technology and poor medical conditions. Though ordinary women can cope with giving birth, in a special case like Yuan Xi's was very risky. So, without his knowledge, Lin Suyun and Yucheng spent a lot of money on purchasing a whole set of medical equipment from a nearby planet.

Yuan Xi slept for a month. During this month, Lin Suyun provided both father and son with a lot of nutrition [and nouris.h.i.+ng supplements], and they prepared for the birth of the child.

Finally, when the little bun's first cry rang in their ears, only then did Yuan Xi vaguely think of a seemingly serious problem.

The little bun has to have a father…

He's never had a relations.h.i.+p in his life, and he had no idea who it could be….He doesn't know what the father [looked] like. The only impression he had was that he took off his clothes and was in good shape….

****不過這個問題他早在十五年前就想通了 baidu says this means "but he thought about it 15 years ago". I figured the author means that he hasn't thought about it in 15 years or that he got used to it after 15 years or something along those lines. If anyone knows, please feel free to correct me!
