Qiu Yue carefully kept the cool metal in a small box, topping it off with a bow.

She seriously hoped he would like it. Choosing a gift had nearly driven her crazy! From now on, Qiu Yue had silently decided to keep a list of gift suggestions so that every year she wouldn't have to worry about what to gift him like today!

Unknowingly, Qiu Yue had already begun thinking of spending her life with Huo Zi Feng. It was even to a point where she could not imagine a future where he wasn't by her side.

Setting the box on the table in front of her, Qiu Yue took a deep breath and smoothened the non-existent wrinkles on her red silk dress. Looking at her reflection she felt that she looked okay enough but she couldn't push down the anxious feeling in her heart. Huo Zi Feng has been going to these sorts of parties for his entire life, and the quality of women there wasn't lacking in any aspect. In terms of status, and in terms of talent, just by looking at the fact that they were qualified to attend even if they weren't talented enough they had to have put in a lot of hard work.

In terms of looks, they used the best products, no matter what face they had, they were blessed with flawless skin and fair complexions; even without such a.s.sets, there was always make-up as a weapon.

Of course, some of these missies were incredibly spoilt, but as some were the oldest children in the family, they generally didn't have that freedom. They were all expected to act with propriety.

In the hall, Qiu Yue had already placed her gift in her bag and was now headed towards Huo Zi Feng.

Looking at him now, she had noticed him the moment she entered the hall. What surprised him the most was how quickly that handsome man of hers had been surrounded almost immediately by a crowd of women.

If she didn't know better, she would even think those surrounding him were his fans.

Unfortunately, she knew those women had made their way towards him like a wolf eyeing its prey. They obviously had impure intentions towards him, and although she could see his expression remained cold and indifferent, Qiu Yue still couldn't help but feel slightly vexed at this sight.

Her eyebrows twitching slightly and her hands clenching into fists, she had unknowingly found herself walking towards him, narrowing her eyes at him.

As if noticing her gaze, Huo Zi Feng whose back was facing her, immediately turned towards her.

Originally, he had felt a piercing gaze on the back of his neck that made him turn his back to see who it was that dared to gaze at him so lecherously. As though prepared to coldly glare as his target, he turned to meet the opponent's eyes.

To his surprise, what was going to become a cold and terrifying glare, changed immediately as his eyes met hers, and Huo Zi Feng was immediately taken aback.

What previously had been icy glacial orbs had immediately melted to become the warmest and most beautiful gaze.

The onlookers at the scene were stunned. Huo Zi Feng was a very handsome man, to the point of driving any woman mad.

—This was all with his cold and unfeeling att.i.tude. One can simply imagine the effect it caused when Huo Zi Feng's usually cold expression has transformed into a warm, loving gaze.

Many of the men present felt their hearts freeze momentaneously, while all the women who were looking his way were immediately stark red as they looked at him.

He wasn't wearing a formal suit, instead he wore a wine red s.h.i.+rt, with sleeves folded up and a black vest jacket. The clothe seemed to emphasize his arms and chest showing off his toned muscles. He wasn't a man with huge muscles, but you could see that his body was firm and taut. His trousers hugged his thighs showing off his body even more. Qiu Yue had told him once that instead of those formal suits she loved seeing him in the outfits that he wore at the office while working. It was torture, yes, looking at everything flex in front of her eyes but she couldn't look away. Looking at him now she wanted to run her fingers of his body, feel him under her.

Her thoughts brought a faint blush to her cheeks.

But there was also a tugging sensation in her heart. She had worn her favorite color and he'd worn her favorite color too. Even what he wore was her choice.

Even when she asked him, for him she looked good in everything. He didn't care about anything other her likes and her happiness.

It was as though she was just receiving and he would keep on giving to her. It gave her a weird feeling. On one side she felt very happy but on the other, she couldn't quite understand it but it caused her uneasiness.

If Huo Zi Feng could've heard her, he'd definitely tell her to stop worrying. Perhaps she hadn't realized but she unconsciously put him first in almost all things. While walking on the road, she would walk on the side where the cars were as if protecting him. She would order the food and pay for it. She would accompany him at night while he worked, often just falling asleep next to him.

And even other than that, he loved her. No matter what her request, her wish, he'd make it come true.

After readjusting her emotions, she finally called out to him.

"Zi Feng!"

Qiu Yue was dressed in a fine red mermaid evening dress, which helped highlight her body's features. The dress itself was quite simple, without any extravagance. Any man looking at her would naturally be drawn to her eye-catching looks.

Today, she definitely looked stunning, and she had definitely attracted a lot of attention. But it was also obvious she wasn't aware of this. She looked only at one person and had no way or intention of learning what others felt.

Huo Zi Feng was staring at her for quite a long time.

Even when he had finally walked and was right in front of her, he hadn't uttered a word.

Studying her as if she was the most interesting and alluring book he had ever read. He had vaguely heard her call out his name, and yet he couldn't help but look at her, mesmerized.

After a while, his heart had finally calmed down, and a smile had appeared on his face.

Looking at him staring intently at her, Qiu Yue tilted her head and pushed a lock of hair behind her ear.

Huo Zi Feng places his arm on her waist and pulled her to his chest. They both greeted everyone together and looking at the way Huo Zi Feng possessively held her next to him everyone could guess that this young Miss was the future Madame of the Huo family.

As expected though, there were quite a few sharp gazes on her too. These young misses born with golden spoons had always known that Huo Zi Feng has had a fiancé, but as he hadn't had any contact with her they had gone ahead and a.s.sumed that it was just an empty promise made by the older generation.

Though none of them said anything they felt very annoyed at her presence. They didn't say it aloud but looking at their eyes they seemed to be mocking her, looking down at her. All she could do was look good right? But that wasn't enough! They didn't believe that someone who had never even attended any of these events could be capable of satisfying the Huo grandparents.

They walked to them as if showing good will, struck up a conversation with them, bringing along their parents and grandparents.

Qiu Yue was very puzzled by the warm welcome she was receiving, she truly hadn't managed to understand why they were acting so friendly. She had a very small world, and only those who existed in that world did she care about.

Huo Zi Feng's eyes narrowed as he looked at them. He could clearly see their intention right from the beginning.

The conversation that had started light soon turned to the hospital owned by one of the big shots present. At this point, Qiu Yue could feel something was off. The original Qiu Yue may not have attended these events and parties but these girls should've been aware of the fact that she was studying in a normal university. Even beyond that, the Lang family had never said that she was interested in taking over the business either. If they were asking for opinion here then didn't that mean they wanted Qiu Yue to make a fool out of herself?

Qiu Yue flashed a sickly sweet smile at the two girls and joined the conversation regardless of their motives.

"Employees are often tired during the accredit-ion period. The process itself is very extensive. I've known people who've had to stay at the hospital for the period of that week in order to solve problems immediately. A small rewards after the accredit-ion is approved seemed to have worked well to bring up morale in hospitals in A country though."

They really couldn't be blamed for failing at humiliating her. What can be said? Qiu Yue hadn't even told Yao Yan that she was actually well versed with hospital management through personal experience.

In fact, they could be considered very smart, they'd chosen a topic so left field from her own career if it had been anyone else in her position they couldn't have partic.i.p.ated in this conversation.

Just like that, this issue was solved. Huo Zi Feng wouldn't let anyone else bring up such a situation, tactfully avoiding it altogether. He had been about to do that before too but his wife continued to surprise him.

The only thing was this had brought up that weird nagging feeling in Qiu Yue's heart again. She just couldn't understand what it was.
