150 Not Simple Influence

Allen did not need her to remind him what others were saying. Even though it looks like he is buried with work and can't focus on anything else. He pays close attention to everything happening in this palace.

He is fully aware what other people are saying about him. Many are calling him a fool and secretly mocking him. Those people ..are fake. But why is that surprising?

The world of the elite has always been superficial like this.

His gaze fell on the woman, his new fiance Cordelia. She resembled Lyn slightly, but she was not Lyn. No matter how comfortable he is around her, Allen understood that n.o.body would be able to replace Lyn for him.

"I am not asking you for anything." Cordelia mumbled. "The reason why I am saying all this is due to the stress and frustration. Since I am your fiancé, and your helping out. That means I have work to do too. I am not unfamiliar with the ways of a ruler. Unlike Queen Lyn, people raised me to be Queen."

"Are the affairs of the internal palace that difficult?"

Cordelia slumped on the chair beside him. "My lord. I think there is something wrong with this place. The people here rely on the Queen too much. n.o.body knows what they are doing. If it weren't for Queen Lyn's knights stepping up, then this place would be in ruins."

"After the end of the last reign. Lyn had to fix all the mistakes her sister made. The policies she changed, the people she got rid of. Due to what happened last time, Lyn probably changed the policies so everything goes through her."

There is nothing wrong with being cautious, or anything wrong with her ways. The Mist Kingdom has prospered since Lyn took the throne. But the problem is, the work load she took on is too much for one person.

Allen tapped the brush he just picked up. "Did you check with the King's advisors?"

"The King's advisors?"

"Yes." Allen nodded. "If it's like what your describing. Then I believe the King's advisors should know more. If you cannot find them, go to the royal knights division one."

Kazuya was an unofficial member of that unit before. Most of the Knights there became his royal advisors but there should still be some members there.

"Why would they know anythin-" Cordelia paused. "So Queen Lyn changed the policies because she believed King Kazuya and her could do everything?"

Allen nodded. "Correct."

"That's crazy."

His lips curve to a smile. "Actually it isn't crazy. If it's those two, it's possible."

Allen watched Lyn for so long so he understood her mindset. He watched Lyn even during the time where she fell for Kazuya. Watching her back then led to him watching Kazuya too.

"Those two are strangely connected by fate."

Cordelia blinked. "I did not expect you to say something like that."

"It seems like those two have influenced me."

"This is not simply influence." Cordelia trailed off. "It seems I will have to speak more clearly since you have no idea what I am trying to say."

Allen shook his head. "There is no need to say anymore."

He does not know what to make of this woman who is his new fiance. Due to the recent events, they have had to postpone their engagement banquet. Since Lyn left like that and entrusted him with the Mist Kingdom. Entrusting her former fiance with her Kingdom, that girl is still as careless as ever. But he does not dislike that side of her.

Allen has not had much of an opportunity to speak with Cordelia. For a while they made a few appearances in public but that was all.

He does not know much about her other than the fact that she was raised to be Queen. Most n.o.bles from first and third cla.s.s families raise their daughters to be the Queen. That is a common occurrence. But even those families do not raise them as strictly as they did with this woman and Prince Andrews late wife Gabrielle.

Then again the two are related, so it makes sense that their upbringing is similar.

"King Allen." Cordelia suddenly changed her tone. "My family attend to arrange the banquet for tomorrow."

Tomorrow? Allen raised his eyebrow at that. He was about to comment that it is too sudden when he realized something. Is that not the day Lyn comes back?

"I will apologize in advance. But it seems that my parents got consent from your side."

At that comment Allen sighed. He already knew who the culprits would be. If it wasn't his grandmother, then she would have asked her most trusted people. Allen knew that his grandmother and the people who came to the Mist Kingdom then held a grudge against Lyn. But Allen did not think it would be like this.

"What are your thoughts?" Allen questioned. He wants to hear what this woman thinks about all of this.

Cordelia sighed. "I understand what they are trying to do. While they are doing this out of spite, it is a good idea. In other peoples eyes, they will see it as us holding authority over the Mist Kingdom. By holding the banquet tomorrow, we will show the people that this place needs a new ruler."

Allen tapped his finger against the table. "You think this place needs a new ruler?"

"Pardon me for saying so but the Mist Kingdom was supposed to be yours. I did some investigating and half these lands used to belong to the wind Kingdom. But during the forty third queen's reign, she took most of these lands." As Cordelia spoke Allens lips curved to a smile.

She is a good scholar it seems like. She is knowledgeable and has charisma too. He needed that, a woman with brains. He needed somebody who knew what they were doing. From the very moment he met Lyn, Allen knew she had those qualities.
