Mark had already known that there were more people hiding behind the trees in the mountains that encompa.s.sed both side of the valley, which was why he tried to finish the first waves of enemies as soon as possible to draw out the rest, but he never thought that they would use this kind of long-range attack.

In a short time, screams echoed through the valley and a storm of blood exploded as the hundred of arrows and spears penetrated their throats and harvesting their lives. Blood ceaselessly squirted out from their wounds.

The rest of the mountain tigers that luckily survived the attack of the Lightning Corps has vanished from the face of the earth after this single attack. The whole valley of death looked like an ocean of blood like someone splas.h.i.+ng ink into a picture frame.

As for the Lightning Corps members, even though none of them died during this attack, but some of them were gravely injured as some of the arrows pierced throughtheir shoulders and legs.

The only people that came out unscathed during this attack were the four imperial knights, as 6th rank warriors they were able to block and dodged most of the attacks. Especially for Mark, he was able to cut down every single spears and arrow that came his way with his heavy long sword.

As he was blocking the spears with his sword, fiery sparks were flying everywhere as he slammed his sword against them. The sparks fell like a meteor shower around him.

After the four imperial knights, as well as the Lightning Corps, survived the first waves of attack, they breathed a sigh of relief. However, soon, They saw the four hundred men in black were getting ready to launch a second wave of attack.

Seeing this, no matter how fearless they were, they started to feel a hint of fear in their heart. If the enemy was to attack them head-on, they had the confidence to take them on but if they stayed on top of the mountain and started to shoot arrows and spears at them continuously, it would be a huge problem for them.

Even though they might not be able to kill all of them, some of them would still die which will reduce their overall strength. Aside from that, they will be worn out by continuously dodging and blocking more than a hundred arrows and spears after a certain amount of time.

Their only chance was to attack the enemy head on, but they were on both side of the valley. They would have to divide their troops into two groups in order to attack the enemy simultaneously.

Furthermore, even they did, it's not like the enemy was going let them climb the mountain leisurely without attacking them in the process. the other way they could do this was only if they had a powerful mage among them that could launch a powerful long-range attack to distract them and break their formation. Darkness encompa.s.sed that particular location of the mountain as the sunlight failed to pierce through that black hole. It was as though the sky was torn and a huge gap opened.

Looking at the huge black hole up in the sky, they felt a deep sense of primal fear as though they were looking at the most dangerous thing in the world. Their instincts told them to run but they were unable to move a single muscle for some reason.

Suddenly,

~Bzzzzt, bzzzzzt~

A rain of lightning arrows poured down from that huge black hole like a heavenly punishment. There wasn't any sound of thunder but the crackling sound of the lightning arrows that poured down from the black hole like a divine punishment.

fifty, a hundred, two hundred, five hundred, a number of lightning arrows that couldn't be counted with the human naked eye, struck the men in black that were hiding in the mountains like a meteor shower.
