23 Chapter 23:

I'm going to f.u.c.king kill them.

Melania.

I am going to rip off that stupid blue braid then stuff it down your throat so you can't place a spell on me again.

Jerson.

I am going to gouge your fangs from your mouth and stab you with them.

You both are going to regret f.u.c.king with me once and for all!

"Xenon. Hey, relax-"

"Don't touch me," I warn, holding my hand towards him to prevent him from touching me again.

"Okay. Sorry." He steps away as his eyes avert away from me making me sigh and suppress my anger.

"No. I should be apologizing." I sigh and ran my hand down my face before sitting down on the bed. "I knew I shouldn't have let my guard down. Melania has been trying to catch me in her trance for months but I'd always been on high alert. I just felt... safe in your arms last night and allowed myself to fall victim to her voice." I admit to him with another sigh. "I shouldn't be taking my anger out on you. Sorry." I apologize this time when he came around to bed and knelt down to me.

"It's alright to feel that way Xenon. I would feel the same way if I was in your situation." He says, grasping my hand and kissing it softly. "Are you still angry?" Zavier asks while a smile stretched on his lips.

"f.u.c.k yeah." I nod. My blood still boiling in anger but I was holding it back for his sake.

"Come on then. Let's spar." He stood up, pulling me to my feet as I grinned and wrapped my arms around his waist.

"You're the best." I hummed before patting his chest. "But you're gonna lose," I inform as I let him go and walked past him.

"Oh am I?" He asks, grabbing ahold of me and throwing me over his shoulder. "That is a bet, Love!" He spun around making me dizzy as I laughed and hit his shoulder.

"You're gonna regret that!" I yell at him before he tossed me on the bed and darted out of the room as if he was racing me. "Oh no, you don't." I scrambled out of the bed, chasing after him with a carefree smile.

"Procidat deceptionem." I tapped Zavier's forehead before he could tackle me to the ground. We slipped into one of my illusions as mirrors stood around us, confusing him to where I was while I smiled and walked around a mirror.

"Oh. Playing dirty I see." He growled though he seemed to enjoy my tricks when I chuckled and waved into the mirror. "Gotcha," Zavier says before there was a bang causing me to burst into laughter. "Never mind." He huffed.

"You know. Your technique in fighting surprises me. Where did you learn it from? Surely it wasn't from a normal pack, your fighting seems unknown." I note as he smirks and crept around a mirror, trying to find me still.

"Must we only speak about fighting? Come on. I want to know who that person is underneath that hood." He says when I stopped walking for a moment and sighed.

"It's best you don't know this person underneath the hood," I confess to him, wanting nothing more to allow him to know who I was but if he knew the person underneath... He would be heartbroken and think of me differently.

"You know I would always accept you for who you are." He told me.

I didn't say anything as I turned around and walked over to where he was stumbling through the mirrors. Sneaking up on him while hugging him from behind.

"You wouldn't if you knew who I was... I don't want to tell who I am just yet." I said as he turned around and held onto me tightly.

"That's alright. I just want to know something- anything about you. I don't know anything about you." He admits when I smiled and nodded, snapping my finger and pulling us out of the illusion.

We stood in front of each other, just staring at one another while I stepped in front of him and leaned up to kiss his cheek. His hand cupped the back of my neck as I pressed my face into his neck.

"I like how you make me feel even if I don't understand the feeling. You make me feel safe and that scares me." I told him while I pulled away and smiled at him. "What else do you want to know about me?" I ask him when he grasped my hands and pulled me towards the pack house.

"Come on. Let's grab something to eat, first." He pulled me inside where there were a few pack members lounging around, his parents sitting on a couch and looking over some picture alb.u.m.

Thankfully, they didn't notice us come in, as Zavier sat me down on the bar and grabbed a pot from the cabinet.

"I didn't know you cooked," I comment when he filled the pot with water and smiled over at me with pride.

"Of course. My parents always taught me to treat my woman. You are in fact my woman, Love." He tells me seriously but his smile told me he was a little too c.o.c.ky making me scoff.

"Is that what you tell your fiance?" I point out a little more forceful while he glanced over at me.

"Xenon. There's something I have to tell y-"

"Xenon!" Someone screamed my name causing me to leap out of my seat and see a girl that had blood running down her head making my heart clench. "Xenon! Please help me! Someone took my baby! Please. Please get him back for me..." The woman gripped onto me, breaking down in sobs when I hugged her tightly and pulled her back.

"Where," I demand as she shook horribly making me sigh. "Somnum," I said out loud, the woman falling asleep and allowing her memories to guide me. "You two, take her to emergency care. You guys, guard her room and make sure no one enters the room other than me and her family. I will be going to get the child back and I want there to be another bed beside her bed for when I return. This child was harmed and I want to make sure he gets immediate care once I return. Everyone understand?" I order as if I was in charge, abandoning Zaiver's meal while several people started scurrying around to do my orders.

"I'm coming with-"

"No, you aren't. I need you to stay here and make sure that all pack members are in the pack house or are in the presence of a guard." I told him, ignoring the angry look on his face when he grabbed my arm and prevented me from leaving.

"I said I am-"

"No. You are not." I threw his hand off my arm, not even caring that I was acting this way in front of the scared pack members. "You are the Alpha of this pack. Your first priority should be to make sure everyone is safe in your pack. That's is your number one job. Not keeping track of a killer like myself. The longer we stand here and fight about this, the more danger you put that kid in. So do your job for once." I snap at him making him growl at me. '

"Don't you dare-"

"What? Tell you how to do your job? Then grow a pair of b.a.l.l.s and do it right the first time." I said turning away from him.

"Xenon-"

"Don't touch me." I snap, throwing his hand off me once again and glaring up at him. "I am not your other woman so please refine to touching me. If anyone else wants to join me feel free to. But you have a duty as an Alpha to remain here and make sure your people are safe. I am not one of your people so stop trying to use your Alpha tone on me." I said walking away from him while someone stood up and stretched his muscles.

"I am coming with you." Zavier's father told me when I nodded and motioned him to follow, putting our differences behind us.

"Then let's go, sir." We left the pack house, an angry Zavier glaring at me but I could care less.

He is the Alpha.

He shouldn't be worrying about someone who isn't even apart of the pack.

It's best this way anyway.

I was nearly brought into the league last night because I let my guard down.

It's time for me to be the bigger person and leave him alone.

It was time for me to go and accept Jerson's offer.

〰〰〰

We walked in silence, my mind allowing me to tap into the woman's memories as I traced her steps back to where it all went down. I could tell that his father wanted nothing more than for me to leave but he didn't have a clue on where we were going.

"What is your name? I'm tired of calling you Zavier's father." I ask him, keeping my eyes closed and reviewing the memories when he stuffed his hands into his pockets.

"It's Daniel. And you're name is Faye Walker." He told me making me snap my eyes open, shocked to hear anyone other than my close friends call me Faye. His old dark eyes were staring deeply at me when he ran a hand through his hair. "I saw you and Ajax fighting in the forest the other day. Though it all makes sense. Never would have thought a good girl could be so murderous." Daniel notes when I looked away from him and started walking in the direction of where the attack was.

"I'm not the same person anymore..." I told him, not sure why I want his approval but I was determined to gain it by the end of today.

"I'm sure." He says, sounding like he did not believe me while I glanced over at him and narrowed my eyes at him.

"I'm surprised you haven't told your son." I point out, knowing that if I was in his position I would tell Zavier. Though sometimes I could never tell what this man would do.

He was a wild card at times.

"Even though I hate your guts, my son seems happy for the first time in two years. When you left, he went into a depression and we weren't sure what to do. We tried several things to make him happy. Ladies, things he wanted, family coming in from afar... But none of it worked. He refused everything and was dead set on finding you once again." Daniel says looking over at me when I stepped over the branch.

"You- He knew I was here this whole time?" I ask, knowing it was a stupid question but wanting to know whether they truly knew I was here.

"Of course. We knew that, even if we didn't like you, we knew that you were always watching over our pack. Many pack members saw you as a guardian, a priest, and even a luna. You fought for us, protect us, healed us and cared so much for the pack members. When my mate and I heard them refer to you as Luna. We were hysterical, but after hearing stories. It made Zavier so happy that he left his depression. So... We let it slide and ignored the stories about you." Daniel tells me as I stopped and looked over at him.

"That's the nicest thing I've ever heard anyone say to me," I admit, his face getting flushed while I look away and started walking again. "Why is it you both hate me so much still?" I ask him this time, referring to him and his mate.

"We- I wouldn't say we hate you. We dislike you very, very much, but hate is such a strong word. My mate dislikes you because of who you were and who you are. I dislike you because of your a.s.sociation with the league and how you came to kill my son." He informs me as I nodded, both reasonable answers.

"I don't blame you. But I would never harm him. That's the last thing I ever want to do." I said, letting him know that I wouldn't want to hurt him.

"Then why were you acting so hostile towards him earlier? Surely you wanted to sock him in the face." His choice of words made me laugh to myself when I stretched my arms above my head.

"It's called tough love. But no. You should know more than anyone else. An Alpha needs to put his people before his wants and needs. An Alpha needs to be able to set aside his emotions and be the strong leader for his pack when they are in need." I told Daniel, knowing he would agree with me since it takes a good Alpha to understand what it takes to make sacrifices such as the one Zavier was making right now.

"For someone who was in the league for so long. You sure do end up surprising me. Tell me. Why haven't you tried joining the pack? You are always around and help everyone." Daniel comments when I shrugged and glanced around the forest area.

"It's not my place. I've always known that the pack life isn't for me. I'm a lone wolf and will always be. The only reason I've remained here is because the a.s.sa.s.sins won't rest until Zavier is dead. I've been training Claire, the pack witch, and I will be training the wolves. Once I feel satisfied that everyone will be safe without me, I will disappear for good this time." I confess to him, suddenly stopping and staring at the scenery. "We are here," I inform Daniel, our discussion being put on hold.

"What is it we are looking for?" Daniel asks me, sniffing the air for a scent when I knelt to the ground and saw the distress on the ground.

"I was hoping you would catch a scent of something but if you can't I can cast a spell to find the child," I said, pulling some of my power and the woman's memory to cast a tracking spell.

"Why didn't you do that beforehand?" Daniel says sounding irritated when I shook my head and stood up.

"It takes a lot of energy to keep the tracking spell up. I wanted to persevere as much energy as I could." I explain, small beams of light lighting a way towards where the child was while I started walking over towards it. Daniel sighed, following after me.

"So you are planning to leave?" He asks, returning to our previous conversation.

"Yes. Just waiting to ensure all of your safety." I answer feeling a s.h.i.+ver run down my spine for some odd reason.

"A piece of advice," Daniel says, making me look over at him. "Leaving a man for no reason. That'll break his heart more than knowing the truth." He referred to his son and walked a little bit head so he could take lead for once.

I stared at his back, unsure whether our relations.h.i.+p was growing but a smile stretched on my face making me walk a little faster and walked side by side.

"Thank you. For the advice." I hum happily making the man grumble a look away.

"Whatever." He throws my praise away, not bothering to say anything else as we continued our way through the forest.

〰〰〰

"I just want to go back to my mommy..." The young child sniffled, curled up against a tree when several rogues stood around waiting for someone.

I clenched my hands, my invisibility spell working lovely on Daniel and myself while I glanced over at him to see his cool nature. Not looking concerned at all making me shake my head and look at the situation.

'We can't barrage in, Faye. They are to close to the kid.' Daniel spoke into my head making me jump a little but collected myself quickly.

'Then what do you propose? Clearly, they are waiting for someone and we don't have much time. By the way, they are crowding him, they are growing impatient.' I comment, watching one of the rogue's edged closer to the small child.

He sat for a moment, looking around the area and where everyone was before turning to me with a devilish grin. The same grin his son had given me hundreds of times.

'They are men.' He simply notes when I narrowed my eyes at him.

'So? I understand that I have very great vision you know.' I point out causing him to chuckle softly.

'Put a show on and I will get the child. It's fairly easy and you have the confidence to rock that.' He nods to me as I shook my head and pulled the hood from my head and allowed my red hair to fall into my vision.

'Don't judge me for this later.' I warn before standing up silently and transforming into a seductive outfit. My red hair was thrown into a sloppy bun and a revealing sheer dress that covered the necessary parts.

I felt very exposed in this outfit, but Daniel was right.

I did feel confident and that was going to be what sold off my performance.

'Remember. I will keep your cloak on and once you touch the child he will be invisible. As soon as he turns invisible. Leave. I will figure a way out.' I told him, stepping out from behind the tree and catching all of their attention. Giving them a seductive smile.

I could sense Daniel leaving from his hiding spot when I twirled a strand of my hair and giggled.

"I was told that there were so men that... needed to be pleased. One of your friends ordered me to come and show you a good time. Am I who you were waiting on?" I ask them in a husky voice, walking over to the man closest to me and running my hand through his hair before giving it a hard tug.

The man whimpered, nearly falling to the ground but completely caught in my spell as I allowed my hand to run down his cheek and softly let him go. I could feel his hand reaching out for me but I spun around and ran into the next man, smiling darkly.

"Oh. I am so sorry. Did I hurt you here?" I laid my hand on his chest while leaning in to kiss him but pulled away causing him to snarl at me. "Sorry. Did not mean to harm you, baby." I blew him a kiss, going over to the next man and knowing I've got all these men wrapped around my finger.

My eyes trained the area where the child, seeing Daniel moving quickly but surprised by my acting. I knew that he wanted to know more about it, but now wasn't the time and he knew that.

"I've never met men so..." Repulsing. "Charming." I smiled seductively when one of the rogues cracked his fist and stared down at me.

"Why don't we go, baby? I'm sure the other guys can handle watching this little thing." The rogue said, hooking one of his arms around my stomach as I gritted my teeth and hummed.

"Oh babe, that wouldn't be very nice," I say, leaning up and cradling his head. I hooked eyes with Daniel and smiled. "It'd be lovely if we just ran away together. I like you the most." I whisper, breathing in his ear and knowing that Daniel understood my words.

The man shuddered as I ran one hand through his hand and held the other on his back, facing it towards Daniel and the child. In a second, the child disappeared from the rogues' sight when Daniel grabbed the kid and held onto him tightly.

"The kid's gone!" One man from behind me yells immediately before the rogue I held tore me off of him and shoved me to the ground. I hiss, sticks and rocks hurting my skin when the two rogues I manipulated glared down at me.

d.a.m.n...

I didn't expect that man to figure out my intentions so quickly...

"Don't worry. I can use my magic to find them." Another man says, closing his eyes and saying something under his breath and stealing all of my magic and finding Daniel escaping. "Got them." He smirks, glancing down at me when I coughed harshly and glared up at him. "Ignis." He snapped a flame alive and threw it over at him.

"Ventus turbo." I threw back the two rogue's around me before teleporting over to where Daniel and the child was. The fire hit my back making all three of us to hit the ground.

I held back a scream, the fire disappearing and tearing my dress apart while I used some of the last bits of strength to push off the ground and see the rogues coming over to us.

"Daniel... Go." I strained, my back burned and bruised when I slowly got up from the ground.

"Faye I can-"

"Don't be like your son. You are a leader and protector of your pack. I am not apart of your pack. Get him to safety." I order, looking at him over my shoulder while he stared up at me in surprise.

"I am not leaving you." He says when I grit my teeth and nod.

"Fine. Cover his eyes then." I inform him, feeling a surge of electricity to run through my palms. Using the earth as a source of power as I stepped towards the four rogues.
