16 Chapter 16:

I felt the warmth heating up behind me as I opened my heavy eyelids and pushed up into a sitting position. My eyes strained against the brightness while I s.h.i.+vered at the lack of clothing.

"Why are you getting up? Lay back down." Levi groans, s.h.i.+fting so I was against the weird bed making me glance around confused.

Are we... at a beach?

"Levi? Levi get up." I hiss, realizing I was naked on the sand with him stripped as well. My eyes widened at the sight of him making me look away quickly and search for my clothing.

I heard my wolf inside me, snickering at me in a mischevious way causing me to growl at her dangerously.

What did she do?!

"Hey, it's okay. We didn't have s.e.x like you are thinking. I didn't want to do that without your permission." Levi tells me, noticing that I was back in control again.

"We didn't?" I question, looking over at him and noticing several hickeys on him making me blush.

Jeez.

This mate bond was getting harder to resist every day.

"Your wolf was insisting we should but I didn't want to. I had a feeling you weren't ready, so we did other things." He shrugs with a satisfied grin. I wasn't sure whether to be more worried about the look he was giving me or the way my body felt.

"What... What did we do?" I ask a little fearful as he smirked and leaned forward, pressing a small kiss on my shoulder.

"Your wolf is very naughty. She taught me a few things about myself and how to please you." Levi informs me before shoving me into the sand and peering down at me. The sudden dominance from him making me s.h.i.+ver.

Oh, Joanna...

What in G.o.d's name did you teach our mate?

My wolf chuckled once again before Levi kissed my throat, dragging his lips down to where a mate mark would rest. I cried out when he softly bite down then smoothed it over the sudden pain with his tongue.

"Levi... Stop. Oh G.o.d, stop!" I yelled when he repeated what he did, everything within me growing crazy as he leaned away and stared at my face.

"Oh yes. I am going to love what Joanna has taught me." He says softly while pressing a lingering kiss on my lips and pulled away. "But we should head back for now. Joanna should be revealing her side of the night. Like now." Levi said in a stern voice making my wolf grumble and share the memories.

My face flushed with embarra.s.sment and heat at the memory of me- or well- Joanna giving him head and teaching him all of my turn-ons. He smirked mischievously, handing over the fluffy white sweater as I hurried grabbed it and hauled it over my head.

Suddenly, I was growing very shy around him.

"Come on. I'll teleport us back." Levi offers when I narrowed my eyes at his outstretched hand. "Don't worry. It's quick and you won't even notice." He promises me making me sigh and grab his hand. "Domun." In an instant, we were back in the bedroom of my apartment as I glanced around a little surprised.

"That was quicker than I thought," I comment, even though I hated magic with my entire existence. That wasn't as bad as I thought.

"Of course. Joanna told me you didn't like magic so I've been trying not to use it much around you. She told me she loved it though, hence why we teleported." He explains but now that I have her memory of what happened I knew it wasn't true.

We were in such a good mood from these last few days together that I didn't want to face the issue at hand. I knew he didn't like it here in this apartment for some reason, but I couldn't help myself from asking him the question that's been bugging me.

"Do you feel... uncomfortable here?" I ask him as he grabbed my leggings and folded them.

He didn't answer me at first, grabbing my cape and folding it as well before turning to me with a thoughtful expression. The look he was giving me told me my answer but he spoke up anyway.

"I... I feel strange in this home." He confesses to me, placing my cape on the bed and staring down at it. "This is where you had a family with you last mate. You dream about them all the time and wish for them rather than me." His voice was shaky and I couldn't help but think I just ruined the mood.

"Levi-"

"I can't help but feel like if you were given the opportunity." He cut me off, finally looking at me with pained and glossy eyes. "That if you had the chance to be with Barack even if that meant dying just to see him again one last time. Would you leave me to see him one last time?" Levi questions me, his eyes watching me for the answer he wanted.

I stared at him completely shocked, unsure of what I would say since I truly wished for Barack to walk through the door and act as if nothing happened. That we'd be a family again...

But Levi has helped me so much... I truly cared for who he was...

He was more than a mage to me now.

He was... a friend.

"Levi-"

"That's quite alright, Nava." He cuts me off sharply, turning away from me clenching his hands tightly in a fist. "Was it your intention to ever give me a chance? To just use me for your pleasure until you were bored?" Levi asks quickly, anger running through the mate bond when I felt my wolf pus.h.i.+ng for control.

"No! I wasn't tr-"

"f.u.c.king liar!" He snarled loudly, hitting the nightstand and making me jump at his ferocity. "I thought you f.u.c.king changed, but here we are. In your old mate's home! You've never cared for me this whole time, only the memories of Barack!" He yelled at me, facing me once again and glaring at me with darkening blue eyes.

"That's not it! Don't make this all my fault-"

"But it is all your fault!" He shouts and took a few steps towards me, gripping my shoulders in a tight hold. "You won't let yourself commit to anything! You have a chance to have a family with me! Your second chance mate! Not many people are blessed with another opportunity at having this connection again! You should feel grateful!" Levi shook me hard making me bite on my lip and hold back the tears in my eyes.

"Levi... Stop it, you're hurting me." I whisper, hoping to get through to him as he stared down at me. His hold loosened a bit but he didn't let me go.

"Tell me you'd rather leave with me rather than remain here in hope's your dead f.u.c.king mate walks through that door." He pleads angrily when I felt my hands shaking, knowing I couldn't tell him what he wanted.

He knew that I couldn't.

I couldn't make a choice like that right now...

"Fine." He let my shoulders go before turning away from me and grabbing the keys on the nightstand. "I'm leaving and don't expect me to come running back this time," Levi said sharply, glancing back at me before shaking his head. "I'm done." He admits with an unsatisfied look before disappearing from my sight.

I blinked at the place where he was, unsure of what to expect from what just happened. My wolf was howling in sorrow and misery and for the first time in a long time.

I felt my own agony choking up in my throat.

What have I done...?

〰〰〰

"Hey, babe! Your parents were looking- What happened?" Thomas dropped the carrot that was in his hands once he noticed my sulking form. He hurried by my side as I started to cry again.

"I-I messed things up r-really bad." I sob, covering my face with my hands when he told his mate to take over for him. He wrapped an arm around my shoulders, steering me to the couch and sitting me down.

"Oh, honey. Tell me what happened." He cooes as I rested my face in my hands and let out a shaky breath before telling him everything.

I told him about when Joanna took over, Levi and I messing with one another, and our fight about my true intentions. I told Thomas all my thoughts, letting out my frustrations and fears as he listened to me rant and argue with myself. He just took in everything I was saying, letting me get everything off my chest.

I wasn't sure what I'd do without him in my life.

"He just up and left? You didn't chase after him or anything?" He finally asks me making me laugh humorlessly and wipe my swollen eyes.

"He teleported... I had no chance." I murmur, glancing around and noticing a few pack members lousing around as if they were waiting for something. "What's happening?" I ask, trying to distract myself from my current situation.

"Oh, that? It's Christmas Eve and everyone is getting ready for the feast. Don't you remember?" Thomas reminds me when I quickly stood up, feeling bad for ruining the holiday. I shouldn't be damaging the holiday spirit with my troubles, I shouldn't even be here in the first place.

I just wanted to... reconnect with everyone and finally say goodbye to my old life.

I just didn't have the guts to tell Levi that...

"s.h.i.+t. Sorry. I didn't realize what day it was. I-I'll leave you alone." I nod to him, turning away and hurrying to the back door.

If I left now, I could make it back to the coven in time.

That's if my wolf would acknowledge my presence.

"Hey you don't have to-"

"I need to be alone," I admit to him quietly looking up at him with desperate eyes. "Please," I whisper, giving his hand a small squeeze and opening the door.

"Don't stay out so long! Good to our special spot and I'll join you later!" Thomas tells me as I turned to him and shook my head.

"No. I'm heading back. I think I should spend the holidays with my family." I took in a shaky breath when he grinned and nodded in acceptance.

"Just tell him how you feel, babe." He winks making me roll my eyes.

"I'm not into that girly s.h.i.+t!" I joke, hearing him chuckle before I wrapped the cape further around me and ran into the forest in the general direction where the coven was.

Since Joanna wasn't talking or helping me, I had to make this journey without my wolf's help so that meant I was more in tune with the weather.

She's being a crybaby, but I couldn't blame her.

I was as well.

Not like I'd admit that I missed the mage.

Without another thought, I opened the mate link on my side hoping he'd follow along but the wall still placed there making my heart tighten.

Fine.

He can be just as petty as Joanna.

I ran through the forest, a small speckle of snow raining down as I smiled and breathed in the crisp cold air.

I hope he won't be mad to see me...

"Nava!" Levi screamed from somewhere deep in the forest making me grin happily and dart for where I heard him yell for me.

"Levi! You came back! Where are you?!" I shout back, ducking around a few trees but not seeing a familiar curly brown mage.

"Of course I'd come back! I love you!" He confesses, my heart throbbing when I bite my lips from the smile that was rising.

"Where the h.e.l.l are you?!" I shout again, ignoring his sudden confession before running into an empty meadow. I strained my eyes against the bright rays, looking for Levi with a warm smile even though my body was frozen.

"Right here, gorgeous." Another voice making me spin around and met the end of a gun. It slammed into my face causing me to fall to the ground, the warmth I felt moments ago disappearing as the world turned black around me.
