14 Chapter 14:

She's such an a.s.s.

I watched Nava have a family reunion while I s.h.i.+fted my pants, trying to relieve the b.o.n.e.r she gave me on our walk back. She had kissed and left marks on my neck from her attack on my neck.

If we had another chance to go on a walk, I would be holding her again.

Same position and everything.

Only this time, I can take her whenever she's being a bad girl.

I watched as her face flamed in embarra.s.sment from my thoughts, all of them open to her ever since fantasies of us came to my mind. Thomas knew exactly what she was doing on the way to the pack house since I had to stop walking several times and claim her mouth so she'd stop for a moment.

I never expected my mate to be so bold.

She happily spoke with her parents that were beaming down at her. These people thought Nava had died along with her family, so I knew I wouldn't be able to punish her for what she did on our way back.

I'd just simply think of scenarios of us together.

"Levi. Come here!" Nava called me before I could think of another way I would force her submission making me grumble under my breath and walk over to her and her family. "Mom. Dad. This is Levi, my second chance mate." Nava introduced, letting one of her hands rest on my chest. The other hand crawling underneath my s.h.i.+rt from the back and scratching my back in a seductive way.

Jesus Christ.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Mercia and Mrs. Mercia." I struggled out with a large smile when Nava smiled up at me innocently.

"Don't worry. Levi-Poo is just shy." Nava says when her hand played with the belt on my jeans.

She's such a minx.

"I am happy you have met a second chance mate." Her mother says, but there was caution in her eyes as she looked at her daughter. "But are you sure he didn't just hex you?" She asks her daughter quietly but not quite enough.

I grew tense at the thought of her family thinking I'd do such a thing, Nava's hands being removed from me as she narrowed her eyes at her mother.

"I don't know if you know mother, but I witnessed my mate die, my child starve, and had a miscarriage because of magic a.s.sa.s.sins used on me. I'm sorry, but mages don't get close enough to me to hex me. Also, grandma taught me to fend off witch's l.u.s.t powers and curses. So yes, I am sure he didn't hex me and next time you have a question. Ask the both of us." Nava snapped when I held her arm, not wanting to witness her fighting her mother when they've been reunited.

Aww.

My Nava is defending me...

"Okay. Okay. I was just simply asking. Those a.s.sa.s.sins-"

"I don't want to talk about it." Nava shut the conversation down, not in the mood to tease anymore as I frowned at the source of her mood fading.

"But you have to-"

"I think we need to rest up," I said quickly, placing my arm on her shoulders. "We spent the night in a cave nearby and we are both very exhausted. If you could please point us in the direction of our room, that'd be nice." I ask them, both of them not pleased with my words when Nava looked up at me.

"Come on. We'll stay in my old room." She says confidently when her parents shared a look.

"We gave that room to another girl... I don't think there are any free ro-"

"That's alright. We'll just go to my apartment." Nava said, surprising all three of us.

"Apartment... You still-"

"I paid off the lease. The place is mine now." She said quietly when looking up at me with a sad smile. "Would you like to see where my family used to live?"

〰〰〰

Nava stepped out of the old elevator as if squeaked open, the sound frightening to me but pleasant to her.

"That d.a.m.n elevator has always been squeaky. No need to be afraid of it." She a.s.sures me, walking down the hallway while I looked around.

"You used to live here...?" I ask her, the hallway and walls looking like it was peeling apart as she chuckled and nodded.

"Yeah. My parents didn't like that I threw my life away before I finished high school, so they threw me out of the pack house. Luckily, Barack was the Betas second son so he was able to get my parents punished with dish duty for a month. But we moved out because there were too many eyes on us. I promise this place wasn't as bad as before." She tells me, reaching up on the door frame and grabbing the key with a grin. "Mr. Balliol always leaves the key out for me. Nice guy." She says, taking the dusty doork.n.o.b and twisting it open.

The door squeaked open, revealing a tiny home with some broken furniture and a deep red stain on the ground. Nava held the key close to her chest, staring at the home in deep thought when I took authority and stepped inside.

"Show me around. I'd like to know more." I said, pulling her attention back to me while she nodded sleepily and stepped inside.

We both knew what happened here last time, but I wouldn't let her live those memories again.

I wanted her to recall the happy ones.

"Well... I have some photo alb.u.ms if y-"

"That sounds perfect, Nava. Go grab them." I pressed my lips on her forehead as she nodded and avoided the blood stain on the ground. When she was finally around the corner, I covered the blood stain with my jacket and stood up before she could catch me.

My mission right now was to make her happy.

She returned from the hallway, holding a heavy box of books while I took them from her and placed them on a small dining room table. I pulled a chair out, motioning her to sit down as she smiled and gladly sat.

"This one is from my childhood. Thomas, Barack, and I were devils." She says with a laugh and placed the book on the table and pushed the heavy box away.

Dust flew away from the book before she opened it and revealed some baby pictures of a little girl. Her cheeks grew red as I noticed the dark brown of the little girl.

"Aww. Your baby photos. Let me see." I pulled the book closer to me when she quickly closed the book.

"I forgot those were in there." She admits, placing the book away and pulling another one. "Oh. This one is my Lily. There are not many photos but I take many and they're on my phone. I don't know if it's still here." She mumbles looking around while I opened the book and saw the little girl throwing toys at a grown man.

The grown man had a grin on his face when the little girl pouted at him with a stuff animal midway in the air. I noticed that the little girl and man had the same curled brown hair but the little girl had darker eyes.

"Oh G.o.d. I remember that fight." Nava laughed out loud, pointing at the picture I was looking at. "Barack had eaten the last of the cookies I made and she was throwing stuff animal at him. She was so mad." Nava chuckle at the memory, suddenly the memory showing itself to me as I smiled as well.

I don't think Nava realized it, but her vulnerability of this place has opened her mind to me. At least her emotions and any memory that comes up to the surface.

I wasn't going to say anything though.

I wanted to know her life from before.

"How about this one?" I ask her, pointing to a picture of a younger Nava and Barack sleeping on the ground surrounded by toys.

"Oh, that one? Barack and I were playing with some kind of Christmas gift we got for Lily and accidentally fell asleep. She woke up and found us surrounded by wrapping paper. She was so proud that she was able to unlock my phone to take that picture." Nava thought back as the warmth of pride ran through her.

Nava was so... pure.

"I'm really happy you're sharing these memories with me," I told her, grasping her palm as she sat down and smiled up at me.

"I am too." She admits, her eyes looking less sad than normal.

〰〰〰

I carried her down the hallway, her body limp against mine as she mumbled something about the left room. Working some of my magic, I opened the door and softly laid her down on the bed.

"Are you going to bed too?" She questions me softly, s.h.i.+fting on the bed so she was comfortable. I pulled the covers around her making sure she wasn't s.h.i.+vering anymore.

It seemed like the heater in this place didn't work at all.

I'd have to fix that when I am cleaning up.

"Not yet. I want to do somethings before joining you." I said quietly, pressing my lips on her cheek. "Sleep. Somum." I whispered, my magic working on her as she fell asleep a moment later.

She'd yell at me later but for now, her well being is more important.

"Ut calidum." I murmur the warmth from my hands surrounding the apartment. Thank G.o.d for my magic or else she'd be freezing.

I quietly left the room and went back into the common room, noticing all the photo alb.u.ms spread around the table. The blood stain on the ground and the damaged furniture was the last thing on her mind now.

I closed my eyes, seeing her dream about her little girl Lily running around the small apartment while Barack and Nava chased her around. The warmth from her dreams making me smile and open my eyes again.

It's so horrible about what happened to her family.

It's not surprising that she wanted nothing to do with this mate bond.

A sigh left me as I reached down for my dirty jacket and tossed it on the chair near the small table. The large blood stain making me frown deeply and hold my hand out to it. "Ut novum." I felt a small breeze zip through me before looking down and seeing the blood stain gone.

Moving away from the carpet, I went to the broke cabinet and fixed it as if nothing happened. If we were going to be staying here, I didn't want her to be upset every time she walked into here.

She should only be greeted with happy memories.

Within minutes, everything I saw was fixed and placed back to where it originally was. I thought for a moment before snapping my finger, everything around me starting to grow cleaner every second until it was spotless.

I didn't feel like I was breathing in a gust of dust every time I took in a breath.

I knew that would make her happy.

My body felt exhausted as I glanced over at the clock and noticed I've been working for nearly two hours. I ran a hand through my hair, unsure if I should join her in the room or take the newly cleaned couch.

"Levi...? What are you doing?" Nava asks from the hallway, rubbing her eyes as I brushed around the armrest and stared down at her bewildered.

I casted a spell to make her sleep for as long as her body needed, how did she escape it?

"I was getting ready to go to sleep. You should go to bed, Nava. You're tired and you need sleep." I tell her with a soft but stern voice when she nodded and grabbed my arm.

"Okay. Come on." She yawned, her cape and tights not on anymore since it had gotten warm quickly. Maybe that's what woke her up...?

"Are you sure you want me-"

"I don't want to argue with you." She says, pus.h.i.+ng me on the bed and stumbling over to the other side. "Good night, Levi." She yawns again, pulling the covers over her shoulders and curled up.

Well then.

I sat up, pulling my shoes off and removing my belt along with my s.h.i.+rt. Deciding to keep my pants on, I slipped underneath the blankets and laid on my back while staring up at the ceiling.

I wasn't sure whether it was because her previous mate slept here or not, but I didn't feel very comfortable in this bed.

Not at all.

"Come on." Nava smacked my chest, standing up and leaving the room before I had the chance to question her. I quickly got up and followed behind her as she went to the couch and pulled it out and formed a bed.

Smart.

She grabbed the blanket off the couch and laid down on it and reached for me as I smirked and let her pull me down. I rested my head on the couch pillow when she rested hers on my exposed chest.

"Good night." She mumbles, curling into me while I rested my hand around her waist and s.h.i.+fted the long fluffy blanket on my torso. Nava was quick to fall asleep once again, this time I used my magic a little more forceful.

This time she shouldn't be waking up.

Holding her tightly, I felt myself doze off into sleep. Letting the mate bond sooth me into sleep.
