Volume 1 Chapter 13

Languo lowered her head as she fiddled with her clothes and twirled her fingers. She was uneasy. She has always been honest, but being this straight-forward was still embarra.s.sing.

“So... you want me to fire you?” Yue asked dismissively.

“No, no!” Hearing that her livelihood could be gone, Languo changed her tune. “I was just... just feeling a little unsure, that’s all.”

“Great, thanks.” Yue chuckled softly. He was so polite.

“You’re welcome.” While his polite manners felt more like a false compliment, Languo still thanked him. Too bad he never told her why she was chosen as his bodyguard.

By now, they have pa.s.sed the side palace to reach the garden.

The garden at the Prince’s palace was indeed spectacular, where hundreds of flowers bloomed and showed off their colors, making Languo feel enchanted and forgetting she was just a servant. She actually let go of the wheelchair and ran to caress a nearby Confederate rose while yelling, “Wow, little lakes, sleeping lilies! I’ve not seen any of these for years. I’ve only seen pine trees and mountains living at the Happy Life clan.”

Yue smiled as he saw her excitement. He added, “if you like the flowers, you can take some to your room.”

Languo turned to ask with an innocent expression, “and where is my room?”

 “Outside my bedroom.”

“What?”

“You’re my bodyguard and have to watch me all the time, did you want me to build your own lakefront villa?”

“Um, of course not. The Prince is being too kind, ha ha.” Languo chuckled awkwardly. She realized Yue may seem easy-going and gentle, but the smile that was always on his lips was actually hiding a lot of plotting. He was no innocent!

Languo put down the rose in her hand and walked docilely back to the wheelchair. She pushed the wheelchair out of the garden with resignation. “Would the Prince like to enjoy the sun by the lake on this beautiful afternoon?”

“That’s what you think. It will rain soon.” Yue refused, he didn’t even look up at the sunny skies.

Languo didn’t believe it. “It’s winter now, and not summer with lots of thunderstorms. How could it rain with the sun this high?”

Yue smiled coldly and didn’t say anything else.

When Languo had pushed the wheelchair around the Prince’s palace for a while and delivered him to the eastern pavilion, as soon as they got under the awning, a ray of lightning came, followed by thunder. Then, rain came pouring down.

Languo could only stare at the skies and the cloud-covered sun, while mumbling, “no way, Prince, are you psychic? This is crazy weather, even more bizarre than Earth weather in the 21st century. Are you a G.o.d of rain? How did you make the rain come so quickly?”

Yue ignored her shock and pushed himself inside.

As Languo was about to close the door, a servant came running over in the rain and hollered, “Prince, the Princess is missing!”

The wheelchair stopped as Yue’s face became grim. “What happened?”
