Chapter 349 - A trap

Chapter 349: A trap

A glittering ray of light shone into the pool, creating a small rainbow.

The beast had already been seriously injured by the four princes, and now, the rainbow shone onto it and started to twist around it, making it howl in pain.

“Bang—–” The beast blood splattered everywhere, dyeing the small pool red in colour, and the place was now reeking of blood.

In the blink of an eye, the beast which was about to break through the freezing spirit phase turned into minced meat.

The crowd stood rooted to the ground seeing this scene.

Even though the beast had been seriously injured, the person must be extremely strong to be able to kill it so quickly.

Jiang Yuan looked up to see someone standing on the rainbow, staring at the remaining pieces of the beast emotionlessly.

~Miss Yu!~

“Who the f.u.c.k are you!” Jiang Yuan blurted out.

She had never seen this skill before, but it was weirdly familiar.

Jiang Yuan turned to her side, to see the floating cloud gentleman’s face turning extremely white, and staring at Miss Yu like his soul had left his body.

“Who are you…” He muttered to himself.

Qin Jun’s jaw was wide open, as he stared at Miss Yu. “This….”

On the other hand, Chu Zhengyan sighed. “You, huh? Of course, it’s you, who else hates Jiang Yuan that much?”

Jiang Yuan stared at all of them dumbfounded, not aware of what was going on. She looked closely and exclaimed in shock. “Nie Rufei?”

Miss Yu reached out to peel something off from her face, and indeed, it was Nie Rufei.

“Hate her that much?” She looked at Chu Zhengyan weirdly and shrugged. “Do you think I am that bored? And Thank you brother Chu, for nearly ruining my plan!”

Even though she called him brother Chu, this Nie Rufei was extremely different from the one they knew—-she was a stranger now in all aspects. Her expression and tone were no longer the same either. If anyone who didn’t know her met her now, who would guess that she was a pampered and spoiled elder miss since young?

Suddenly, Qin Jun came to realise something. “So all of you knew it…?”

The floating cloud gentleman pursed his lips and did not reply. His face fell and turned extremely black.

This left Jiang Yuan staring at them dumbfoundedly.

“What’s going on?” In the nook, Yan Wugui whispered.

~I don’t even know what’s going on!~

Next to him, Lu Mingshu was twisting her clothes, trying to squeeze the remaining water out. “How would I know? Just watch the show, quietly please.”

“I am the only one who knows nothing, huh?” Jiang Yuan mumbled to herself.

Chu Zhengyan sighed and looked at her, seeming to be pitying her. “Miss Jiang, it’s not your fault. You are just unlucky to be a.s.sociated with him.” He glanced at the floating cloud gentleman.

Jiang Yuan took a deep breath and observed all of them slowly.

Chu Zhengyan looked at her in sympathy, which shows that he was aware of the plan. And that might be the reason why he suggested a change of rules and kept targeting her to stop her from pa.s.sing that round.

~So he was trying to help me out of this?~

Qin Jun furrowed his eyebrows and stared at everyone. He seemed to be in shock and sighed when he finally understood what was going on. This made Jiang Yuan feel better. It showed that Qin Jun probably knew that there was something going on behind the debate, and he did not work with her to get her into trouble.

While the floating cloud gentleman stared at Nie Rufei like he was going to tear her head off any second.

Nie Rufei stood there, staring at them as if mocking them.

All of a sudden, Jiang Yuan felt like she was a joke. She gave up her relations.h.i.+p, her ident.i.ty as a girl to join the brutal world, fighting at risk of her own life. Jiang Yuan always believed that it was the result of her own effort that she got to where she was today. At times, she even looked down on Nie Rufei, thinking that she was hopelessly narrow-minded.

~So this was all just a lie? And yet I have been mocking the one who tricked me into this, when I was the one being played?~

“Why?” She muttered to herself.

Nie Rufei glanced over at her, and smirked. “Jiang Wan, you have never once suspected who he was?”

Jiang Wan looked up vacantly.

Nie Rufei laughed evilly and pouted. She still looked and acted like a spoiled miss, but she sounded extremely sarcastic. “Love is indeed harmful. With how smart you are, why would you not know? If he was just an alienator, would he have all these techniques to hide his ident.i.ty?”

“Alienator?” Qin Jun looked over at him. “You are really an alienator?”

Even though there have already been rumours regarding this, all of them thought that the rumours could not be taken seriously.

The floating cloud gentleman looked at all of them emotionally. He looked over at Jiang Wan who seemed to be in a daze, Qin Jun who was in a loss and Chu Zhengyan who looked curious and a little bit excited about what would happen next, with a trace of pity for Jiang Wan in his eyes. His eyes stopped at Nie Rufei who was mocking him.

He smiled thinly and rubbed his forehead slowly. A thick trail of soul blood rolled down his head.

“True are the chosen, and seals are what G.o.d gave them to prove their superiority, while the alienators have always been deemed to be the lower cla.s.s, and never be able to cultivate.” The floating cloud gentleman looked at her coldly and shook his head, “It has been years, and it would be time for them to pay us back.”

“You? Just you alone?” Nie Rufei snicked.

“Someday, there will be someone, who will make it happen.”

Yan Wugui stared at them dumbfoundedly. He grabbed Lu Mingshu and whispered. “Oh my G.o.d, so that means her love for him was all lies?”

Lu Mingshu shrugged.

“No wonder.” Qin Jun said softly. “Elder Miss Nie was talented when she was younger, and the Nie family doted on you so much, why would they suddenly groom someone else? So you had already planned this long ago?”

Jiang Wan finally got her rationality back and stared at Nie Rufei, face turning extremely pale. “Nie Rufei, you turning up at Evening city back, was it all an act too?”

“Duh” Nie Rufei looked at her, she seemed like she was smiling, but it wasn’t a smile. “Why would I, someone from such a rich family go to such a place?”

Seeing Jiang Wan turning even paler, she seemed to be enjoying it and laughed. “Oh no, disappointed, are you? Do you think you are good, by beating the garbage in the Jiang family? The world is much crueler than you realise. All the stories of me falling in love with him at first sight and taking him away from you was fake. I wanted to use him to find the rebels, and he wanted to make use of me to get authority….”

“Shut the f.u.c.k up!” Jiang Wan pointed at her and gritted her teeth. “Disgusting b.i.t.c.h! Both of you completely dis-gust me!” She mouthed the word clearly and loudly.

Seeing Jiang Wan rage made Nie Rufei even happier. She giggled and looked over at the floating cloud gentleman. “Heard her? Both of us, me and you. We’re disgusting to her.”

He said nothing and simply stared at her.

“Fu Yun, you are so heartless!” Nie Rufei pouted and acted coquettishly. “You left her behind to complete your important mission and did not even show any concern. Even if I planned to kill her, you were unconcerned. Was the mission so important that her life is worth it? Worth you giving everything up?”

“Do you even have the right to comment about me when you do the same?” The floating cloud gentleman snickered, “Grand Elder Miss Nie, making herself worth less than a dog to find clues about the rebels.” His eyes were filled with disgust and hatred. “Why can you do so while I can’t?”

“We are indeed made for each other.” Nie Rufei played with her hair as if there was nothing happening. “Acting is so tiring. You must have spread the information of the emperor being obsessed with cultivating, thus hiding the emperor’s order in this debate to choose a new heir, am I right? Haha, you were useless, used as bait.”
