And Ah’Bi also thought up a good reason—she could make an issue regarding the clothes Shu Nuan had embroidered before .

At a later moment, Shu Nuan was reading a book in the Sheng Courtyard . She was about to get up and open the door for some visitors, when the people outside pushed the door open of their own volition .

Shu Nuan ceased her footsteps . She saw Sheng Gu and Ah’Bi come in, followed by several guards .

“Kneel down . ” Sheng Gu looked at her coldly .

Shu Nuan lifted her eyes, looked at Sheng Gu, whose face was covered by a veil, and asked softly,

“What have I done?”

Sheng Gu turned to take the torn clothes from Ah’Bi’s hands and threw them on Shu Nuan’s body . “This is the dress that you made for This Princess . You should be aware of what you have done . ”

Shu Nuan failed to understand what she was saying, and as a result she looked at her straight ahead .

“This Princess felt itchy after wearing your clothes today, and even coughed up blood . Do you dare to say this wasn’t caused by you?”

“Did her Highness ask a doctor to check?” Shu Nuan asked .

“You look at it! It’s poisoned!”

Shu Nuan, still calm, asked, “What poison?”

Ah’Bi immediately rushed forward . “What an audacious slave! How could you question the Princess?! You dared to give the princess poisoned clothes; simply asking for death!”

Before Shu Nuan could reply, Ah’Bi yelled out, “Take this rebellious slave to be beaten for fifty times . “

The guards behind her hesitated and did not move . After all, everybody at the manor knew that Shu Nuan had become Prince Sheng’s favorite . And the person who spoke was Ah’Bi, which was even more unconvincing .

Seeing this, Sheng Gu turned to glance at the guards; in a cold voice she ordered, “Grab her!”

Between Sheng Gu’s will and the slave girl’s safety, which was more important became clear at that moment .

Although Prince Sheng had been very fond of her lately, she was nothing more than a slave with no name and no background .  But Sheng Gu was different . Sheng Gu had not only been given the t.i.tle of princess by the Emperor himself, but had also grown up in Shenghe Manor since childhood . The princess’s status was naturally much stronger than this slave girl .

Therefore, the very next moment after Sheng Gu gave the order, several guards grabbed Shu Nuan .

“I didn’t poison anyone . ” After Shu Nuan was seized by the guards, she looked up at Sheng Gu to clarify her stance .

But Sheng Gu did not listen to her explanation; she coldly snorted, “Whether you did or did not, we’ll find out,” she paused, and then continued, “Flog her with a staff a dozen times, until she confesses . ”

Shu Nuan was detained in a jail and put on a torture instrument .

She gritted her teeth and braced herself .  Her back was. .h.i.t by a heavy staff again and again, making her feel as if her limbs and bones were going to shatter .

In the end, she cried out in pain . But the pain was only getting worse .

Sheng Gu was using her ident.i.ty to force out a confession from her through torture . But she had no ability to resist . No matter what, she was just a slave of a vanquished kingdom . This was all clear to Shu Nuan .

And thus Sheng Gu used torture to extort a confession from her…

Shu Nuan tightly closed her eyes . Her eyes were wet with tears that come out of endless pain .

She feebly opened her mouth, and in a hoa.r.s.e voice said, “I… plead guilty . ”
