Chapter 110: Deceiving Uncle Sheng (7)

At this moment, Headmaster Chen and others arrived .

Headmaster Chen had been caught off guard when he’d learned of the empress dowager’s visit . He’d wanted to take her to see the academy, but  she’d excused herself by saying that she didn’t want to be too ostentatious . So she hadn’t let them follow her . She and her grandchildren had come to see Sheng Gu, and so the headmaster hadn’t expected such a thing to occur .

Headmaster Chen first asked Master Gao to bring all the students in the cla.s.s to the hall outside, and then he consoled the dowager .

But the dowager didn’t appreciate it . She snorted, and said, “Headmaster Chen, I think your academy is only declining . Can anyone get admitted now?”

Headmaster Chen naturally understood that the dowager was referring to Shu Nuan’s status as a slave . He coughed twice and was about to open his mouth to explain, but he heard a light voice come from outside the door .  

“How can anyone who was able to enter Cla.s.s One be unqualified for admission?”

Several people followed the voice and found that Ji Xubai had walked in .

He glanced at Shu Nuan and sneered .  

“I say, where have you been, Shu Nuan? Do you consider yourself too highly? After only a few days, you dare to cut cla.s.ses?”

Shu Nuan looked at him silently .

Hearing his words, the dowager frowned .  

“This girl is a student of Cla.s.s One?”

The dowager had taken the relations.h.i.+p between Sheng Qianmo and the Yulin Academy to be the reason why Shu Nuan had been able to enter Cla.s.s Ten . That was a remarkable thing, but Cla.s.s One was difficult for even the children of the Imperial families and n.o.bles to enter . Only results talked in that cla.s.s .

So, after hearing his words, the dowager hesitated for a moment .

Ji Xuebai gave her a small salute and said with a smile, “Empress Dowager, she is indeed my student . ”

After saying this, Ji Xubai gazed at Shu Nuan, and asked, “Why haven’t you ran back to cla.s.s yet?”

“…” 

Shu Nuan was silent . At this moment, she was being held by two guards .

“Stand Down!” the dowager ordered . She frowned and looked at Shu Nuan before continuing . “Don’t tell me the reason why you hit Little Gu first . I only ask you one question . Are you still living at Shenghe Manor?”

“Yes,” Shu Nuan answered .

The Empress Dowager turned her head to look at Sheng Gu again . With a dignified look, she ordered, “Take this girl back to my palace . I will interrogate her in person . ”

The soldiers followed her order to detain Shu Nuan .  

Ji Xubai said, “Empress Dowager, you can interrogate anything you want . But tomorrow, Shu Nuan must be well, and present at Cla.s.s One . ”

Ji Xili’s eyes widened at his words .

“Ji Xubai! Is this a tone you can take with the Empress Dowager?”

Sheng Zhiyu sighed, and said, “Ji Xubai has been impudent since childhood . Let it be . ”

The dowager knew that Ji Xubai was a pillar of the Yulin Academy, and she didn’t care about it . In a cold voice, she said, “It’s my family’s matter . ”

“Grandmother… are you going to get mad me?”

Sheng Gu wasn’t sure what her grandmother was thinking, especially with the complex expression she was wearing . She couldn’t tell if the dowager could suddenly turn to Shu Nuan’s side . As a result, the princess was perplexed and uneasy, looking at the dowager with reddened eyes .

But the empress dowager just clapped her hands and turned to Ning Cheng Yuan .

“Little Yuan, you’ll take Xiao Gu back to the manor later . ”

Sheng Gu sobbed, and said, “I haven’t had a home for a long time… Where should I go back to? Fourth Uncle drove me out of his manor for her sake . ”
