My Little Girl (78)

When Sheng Qianmo went out to look, he found Shu Nuan as expected . She was still wearing her white school uniform and looked like a regular  girl, which was in large contrast with the roar of the training soldiers coming from a short distance away .  

Shu Nuan looked poles apart from anyone else in the camp . She was standing under the tree near the patrol platform with her head bowed . Her little feet in white shoes were crossed, and it could be told from her cute manner that she was waiting for someone .

Sheng Qianmo walked over . She heard the footsteps and raised her head . She blinked and moved her eyelashes while waiting for him to walk over .

“How come you’re here?” asked Sheng Qianmo as he reached her, raised his hand, and rubbed her hair .  

Shu Nuan looked at him with clear and bright eyes, and said in an uncertain voice, “I finished the exam ahead of time, so Fifth Prince brought me here . Did I disturb Your Highness’s busy schedule?

Her eyes were like s.h.i.+ny gems, but when she looked at him, she was still afraid that her sudden arrival would make him angry .

Sheng Qianmo understood what she was thinking . He grabbed her little hand and held it in his palm . He whispered, “Well, I really am busy today . I’ll take you to This Prince’s tent to rest, then come find you later when I have some time . ”

Shu Nuan nodded in an incessant manner, not daring to say anything more .

However, when Sheng Qianmo brought Shu Nuan to his tent, Sheng Zhiyu came running from the training grounds, yelling to them from behind .

“Fourth Brother, wait a minute!”

Sheng Qianmo frowned and paused . He gave the prince coming from afar a glance . Sheng Zhiyu truly had a lot of perseverance, but Prince Qianmo didn’t have the patience to wait for him to run over .

“Ji Xili came back from the Nanchao Kingdom . She just arrived in the capital yesterday, and she asked me if you wanted to see her sometime . ”

As Sheng Zhiyu said this, he didn’t care if Shu Nuan was still nearby . After all, compared to Ji Xili, Shu Nuan’s status was irrelevant . Besides, these two hadn’t known each other for long .

Sheng Qianmo’s face remained unchanged upon hearing what his brother had to say .  

“What’s wrong with her?”

“Nothing’s wrong, but don’t you want to see her? We all grew up together, after all…” Sheng Zhiyu sighed and stuffed a brocade purse into his brother’s hand . “Come to the Moon Pavilion tonight . I’ll call Ningcheng Yuan and the others too . Let’s give her a welcome dinner, and it’ll also serve as a reunion for the rest of us . ”

Sheng Qianmo held the brocade purse in his hand and didn’t speak . After a long time, he said, “I see . ”

Seeing Sheng Qianmo make the promise, Sheng Zhiyu let him go as he’d finished his task .

The prince then escorted Shu Nuan back to his tent . He didn’t intend to mention what Sheng Zhiyu had said, let alone explain it . He just put her in the tent and left .

Shu Nuan sat on the soft couch covered with a wooly blanket . She waved her legs lightly and looked down at her shoes . After a while, she took out a book from her bag and began to read it .

But after a while, Shu Nuan couldn’t help but get lost in thought . Her pet.i.te fingers quickly turned the pages, but her gaze wasn’t focused . Still, her eyes kept pacing the sentences and, half a day later, she was almost finished with the book .
