178 Watching The Figh

"Excuse me, how's the match' progress so far?"

"The preliminaries are over. Now, it's the fight to determine the top 16 for Eon Energy Master rank 2."

"Is there any interesting matchup?"

"Yes!"

"Who?" Ye Jiao asked curiously. She didn't expect that at this point there would be a match between the current leading genius, so she decided to ask.

"It's Wei Cheng vs Lu Wan."

Ah, it was truly an unfortunate match up. The two of them were at the front of the leading figure for the younger generation. They should have the strength to enter the top 16 if only they didn't have to fight against one another.

"Have they fought?"

"Not yet, it's only the start."

As she s.h.i.+fted her attention back to the arena, she heard the announcement declaring the next battle.

"Lu wan against Wei Cheng. Please the two parties come onto the stage."

Lu Wan smirked when he heard his name. He stood on the arena confidently while looking at the young man in front of him. "Even after the trouble to cancel the challenge before, we still meet against one another in the arena."

"Apparently so," Wei Cheng readied his sword. "I hope you're not going to disappoint me because you have been running away so much."

"No worry," Lu Wan took out his sword calmly. He was never afraid of the challenge from Wei Cheng, but it was because of their family matters that they were not allowed to fight. After all, it would s.h.i.+ft the balance of power.

But now, who cared for that.

"You're the one who should worry about that!"

The moment the teacher said start, the two of them dashed from their position against one another. Their sword locked into one another as they clashed numerous times. Each side was giving everything they got for this battle.

On the stand, Ye Jiao watched their fight carefully.

'One to the right and one to the left. It's repeated numerous times. The changes in Wei Cheng's attack is astonis.h.i.+ng.'

As one might expect from the eldest son in the military family, Wei Cheng was extremely proficient in his swordplay. It was executed beautifully with little errors. One who saw it from the side would surely be able to see the beauty in his work.Ā

'But Senior Brother Lu is terribleā€¦"

Lu Wan relied mostly on his strength and capability to see through Wei Cheng's attack. He has been in numerous fights because of his hidden occupation as an a.s.sa.s.sin, so he was used to facing people stronger than him. After all, their master was not kind enough to let them face people weaker than them.

With him knowing the attack, he just counterattacked them all in a straight manner. He knew the basics for swordplay, but it was not a fancy one. Still, while he attacked upfront, his attack was fast and powerful.

'From physical power alone, Senior Brother Lu is at the advantage. From the control of Eon Energy and weapons, Senior Brother Lu is also at advantage. The only thing that Wei Cheng is good at is his swordplay, but he's not quick enough.'

Ye Jiao a.n.a.lyzed the fight from the side. There would come the time when she faced against Wei Cheng, so she knew better than anyone that it would do her no good to come unprepared. This arena battle would be her place to examine the geniuses' fight and their fighting style.

Clang!

Lu Wan successfully pushed Wei Cheng back. He grinned as his white teeth were shown outside. "It's my win, Wei Cheng."

"Tsk," Wei Cheng clicked his tongue. He had seen for himself that Lu Wan had great strength and power. The young man's swordplay was not too remarkable, but he had the ability to see through the opponent's movements and countered them perfectly. That was what granted the young man the ability to defeat him.

Still, he couldn't accept this.

"What kind of sorcery did you use?"

"I wonder," Lu Wan tilted his head. "But I'm sure that the difference in our talent is too apparent that medicine could never cross the barrier."

Despite feeling angry, Wei Cheng couldn't refute. He knew that Lu Wan has greater talent compared to him. After all, he was two to three years older than this young man, but he still lost in the battle. It was humiliating.

"You should have accepted our duel months ago," Wei Cheng said through gritted teeth as he stood up. If only Lu Wan accepted it back then, he could make use of his higher rank to push Lu Wan back. There was no way the previous Lu Wan could defeat him.

The previousā€¦?

Somehow, the phrase struck inside his mind as he realized that he might never be able to defeat Lu Wan in his entire life. Sense of crisis enveloped his body as he was determined to grow even stronger than before. He didn't want to lose against someone younger than him anymore.

"I wonder about that," Lu Wan retracted his sword and shrugged. "I'm always more powerful than you, you know?"

As Lu Wan walked away with ease, Wei Cheng's eyes glinted with ruthlessness. He turned around and returned back to his place. Slowly, he reached the VIP area and knocked on the door.

Knock! Knock!

"Enter."

The chilly tone that the prince used caused his body to s.h.i.+ver slightly, but Wei Cheng curbed his feeling and stepped inside. He could see his little sister sitting like an ice block while Chen Zi Quan stared at him with a cold and unfeeling gaze.

"Come over here."

"Yes."

As he stepped closer, Wei Cheng was trying his best to stay calm. The moment he got close, he saw something moved in his direction at lightning speed.

PLAK!

"What kind of fight is that?" Chen Zi Quan's tone was murderous. He was angry at the result of the battle between Wei Cheng and Lu Wan. That was truly humiliating because it was clear that Wei Cheng didn't stand a chance against Lu Wan.

"Iā€¦ I already do my best."

"That's called your best? Are you a trash, Wei Cheng?"

The word was harsher and ruder than before, but Wei Cheng didn't dare to refute. All his life, he was the one cursing other people as trash because of his ability. But in front of Chen Zi Quan, he was not any better than a trash.

"I'm sorry."

"I don't need your sorry. When we return back, you better go and train or I'll personally engrave in your head that you're a trash."

"Yes Your Highness."

Chen Zi Quan stood up and walked to the door while Wei Cheng stayed in his place. It was his turn to fight after the next battle, so he wanted to prepare himself. Behind him, Wei Yin also walked out. Her indifferent gaze landed on Wei Cheng for a split second, but she didn't say anything.

The two of them might be brothers and sisters, but they have a different mother and they never truly interacted with one another.

They were just strangers.

After the two of them walked out of the room, Wei Cheng stood upright in his place. He looked at his arm as he wondered what he did wrong.

'I just have to train more.'

He consoled himself as he walked to the edge where he could watch the fight better.
