3 3 Magic

Kilian squinted his eyes to get a better view of the creature. Their head seemed to be triangle shaped and connected to a tube-like neck. The basic form of a snake. But it was much bigger.

The snake hissed and revealed itself from its cover, knowing it has been spotted.

It's eyes were slits and the size of a fist. The snake spanned at least a few meters but the rest of it's body was hidden away in the bushes.

It has green sleek scales with a white belly. It sort of reminded Kilian of an anaconda.

The snake opened its wide jaws and exposed two large and sharp fangs coated in venom. The venom spewed out of its mouth and landed on a few bushes nearby, causing them to erode and turn white.

Kilian easily contemplated his possibly escape routes.

"So about that magic you were gonna teach me?" He mumbled.

[I'll give you your first spell, Ice Bolt.]

Suddenly, Kilian felt his body grow numb for a split second then knowledge of an incantation flew into his head.

[You should be feeling a little numb as this is your first experience, it'll wear off.]

"I see." Kilian saw the snake charge at him with immesurable speeds.

Just before it could bite the man with it's fangs, the snake saw a blur and a force on the back of it's head, knocking it towards the ground.

It fell face first into a tree and pulled itself away. It looked at Kilian with a murderous glare.

"Somehow I dodged that..." At that moment, Kilian dodged just in time, which isn't something a normal human can accomplish.

[Your current body is much better than your previous one, you just need time to get used to it. Now aim with your hand and think of the word 'Ice Bolt.']

Kilian raised his hand and formed it into the shape of a gun.

The snake seemed to realize something was off but before it could move, it was already struck by a fast sliver of white. The sliver drove through it's side and in it's place became a frozen chunk of blood and skin.

Hissssss! The snake winced in pain as it's green blood oozed and froze. It's movement became a tad bit duller but it's angered eyes glared at it's prey. This time with vigilance.

Kilian was quite surprised by it's speed and the damage it's done. He leaped back to retain distance, knowing that the snake will likely be more serious with its attacks.

[That worked quite well for your first try. You should be able to easily kill it if you aim for it's weak spots.]

"Gotcha."

Kilian aimed again and just now, felt a pleasurable sensation coursing from his feet to his arms, then to his hand that's aiming. Then blue lights and chilly air surrounded his pointed finger. A white light shot out and just missed it's target.

The snake beast lunged at Kilian with it's jaws outstretched.

Kilian once again jumped, which caused the snake to hiss, as if he was already expecting this move. The snake twisted its lithe body and jumped at Kilian midair, its lower tail slamming against a tree.

"Ice Bolt."

An arrow of ice slammed right into the snake's mouth and the tip was poking out through the back of its skull.

Kilian landed safely from the light recoil and watched as the entire head become encased in ice. He waited a moment and then approached it to make sure it was dead.

He wondered if the snake was just stupid. It seemed quite crafty and experienced, but he had no idea about the age and other standards of this world.

[Since you're wondering, this is a White-Bellied Snake. They live to be a few centuries year old and this one seems to be around a century. They're smart and tricky creatures but your G.o.d Fiber body tricked it just nicely.]

Kal spoke up with a slightly proud tone.

Well, the body was created by him.

Kilian bent down, "I'll need some tools for this." He muttered.

He heard a sort of creaking noise and looked up, seeing a branch dangling loosely. The branch instantly fell on the snake's head and caused it to break apart into smaller icicles. Kilian raised his arms and blocked most of the shards.

A small purple light glinted from the crevices between his arms. He lowered his guard and spotted a small purple crystal ball in the s.p.a.ce between the frozen chunks.

"Huh?" He wasn't about to sift through the icicles and touch something which could potentially be dangerous.

[Every monster has a core inside of them, they have plenty of uses, most are safe, especially this one.]

Kal's notification was a relief for Kilian, who somehow managed to find some trust in his tour guide.

Kilian was still wary as he picked up the small orb. He felt a slight tingling sensation on his fingers, the same as when he was casting Ice Bolt from earlier.

[What you are feeling currently is the flow of mana.]

"Mana?" He's heard of the word a few times, especially during his underlings' gaming time.

[Every lifeform releases mana, basically, mana is an energy that can be absorbed and conducted to construct magical complexes, the fuel to everything in this world.]

"Interesting." Kilian nodded. He smirked and wondered what the others at the organization might think if he showed them the fantasy-like world he now lives in.

"Are there any other uses for this mana?"

[Yes, it can be used to power magical devices, create worlds, summon G.o.ds, whatever floats your boat. Of course it's limited by the laws of this universe.]

Kilian wasn't to keen on the idea of learning every law in this universe, since it seemed to be approaching dusk and he didn't want to be stranded in the middle of the forest with nowhere to go. He decided to opt out of asking another question on this topic.

"We should seek shelter, don't know how many more of those things will be coming now that they smell my fresh kill." Kilian looked at the headless snake and ran off with the core in hand.

He sensed something was coming and now wasn't a good time to fight over food.

[There's a cave Northwest.]

Kilian went in that direction.
