Shane raised an eyebrow.

Sure enough, she didn't forget to be funny even scared.

Actually, Nora didn't want to joke around. When would she have the time to, afraid as she was ?

It's just her honest answer.

She didn't want to be killed, that was all.

Shane bent over a little.

Nora gulped and had to refrain herself from stepping back.

He still had his smiling face, but he was more menacing now.

His voice was a bit deeper when he said :

"Arguments, lil' monster."

Nora blinked her eyes twice before the information reached her brain.'Does a real cop asks this... ? Is that even for real ? What arguments ?'

She tried to think, but the fear spread all over her and she found nothing.

Even when she had her accident, all happened too fast to make her scared.

She never had a gun aimed at her too.

And more than that, this man, no matter how much he could smile, looked like he really wanted arguments.

Without, she would die.

But she didn't have any good reasons for being kept alive.

Millie, on the other hand was deeply shocked by what was going on. She waited for days for this bunch of heroes to come and save them and now...

One of them was threatening her sister while the others didn't react.

Daisy was immobile too, as she didn't fully realized what was going on. But based on her understanding of Shane's personality, if Nora wasn't harmful to them, he'd let her go.

He could be heartless when needed, but not cruel.

But Daisy's belief wasn't Millie's.

And when he asked for arguments, her anxiousness forced her to think fast.

She nearly lost her sister once, and even if she gained new "powers", no one could survive a bullet in the head.

No matter what, she had to help her.

When an idea popped in her head, she started to make signs to her sister.

Shane had his back facing her, so he didn't see a thing, but Nora had a good view on her sister's doing.

But she couldn't make sense on what she was trying to do.

Obviously, she wanted to tell her the argument she found.

But what it could be...

She saw her articulate something, then she made some strange moves.

She was fanning herself. Then she counted on her fingers.

And so on.

It was impossible for Nora to get what she wanted to say.

And the more Nora seemed to not understand, the more Millie was agitated.

She started to stamp her feet, and her moves became messier and weirder.

The group a bit away from her had all a smile on their face.

It was a heavy atmosphere, filled with danger and an upcoming death but...

Millie was a like a squirrel who drank too much coffee, jumping everywhere, getting upset on her own.

And Nora's blank expression didn't help.

Even if Shane lost all his IQ, how could he not understand what was going on ?

Nora's gaze wasn't fixed on him anymore, and the fear was slowed by an hint of incomprehension.

Millie, while staying mute, was just too loud with her jumps.

And Jake stifled laugh made it worse.

Shane's smile went deeper while his eyes seemed to go darker.

It was like a lightening strucking Nora's head, making her react.

So she finally opened her mouth.

"A... fan ?"

Millie facepalmed.

The corner of Shane's lips twitched a bit before his smile returned to normal.

"I doubt a fan will be enough."

Nora s.h.i.+vered slightly. But she really didn't get what Millie wanted to convey !

But when Millie started to do her little show again, Shane turned his head to look at her.

"Kids should sit down while adults are talking."

Millie's face turned pale. No one ever looked at her this way. Even her legs started to turned into jelly.

When Nora saw her sister's expression, a little glow of irritation appeared in her eyes.

"She's just trying to help me."

Even if her voice was shaking and the conviction in it was weak, it capted Shane's attention.

So the mutant rabbit wanted to rebel ?

He turned back toward her.

Sure enough, she was still scared of him but had a tiny shade of anger mixed in.

Thanks to that, her brain started to work again.

And when she thought back to all the hints her sister tried to give her, even if she still didn't get her initial meaning, she found her own.

"Money !"

Her face was now filled with a new hope.

Millie sighed.

At least, Nora finally understood.

Shane looked at her, thoughtful, before he answered.

"Sorry, I don't give to beggars."

Nora's face darkened instantly. 'First I'm a monster, now a beggar ?! Take a shower before talking about beggars, they're cleaner than you !'

But she couldn't just insult the man who had a gun.

Especially when it was pointed at her.

When Shane saw her obviously angry, his smile became a bit more natural.

She makes funny faces.

And he started to feel it would be a bit of a waste to kill her.

Not everyone had such expressions, easy to read and amusing.

"I'm saying that I have money. Millie and I come from a wealthy family, if you don't kill me and bring us out, we can compensate you."

"Having to keep a monster with us is quite dangerous. My price won't be low."

"Alright."

Shane looked at her. Nora seemed serious.

She was scared, her voice and hands were shaking, but the seriousness couldn't be denied.

Like money wasn't a problem.

If they came from a rich and known family, wouldn't that gave a little help to the boys career ?

It wasn't every day they could save some little ladies, after all.

Of course, it was a double edged occasion.

But if it wasn't the case and she really was harmless for humans...

Nora looked at him, a bit perplexed but didn't found his question weird.

"Rainfrew."

Shane froze.

The surprise struck him.

Before his smile turned carnivorous.

The Rainfrew family...

Sometimes, coincidences really happened.

A rich family. An influent clan.

Shane's eyes gleamed as he stared at the monster before him.

Such a tiny woman was a Rainfrew.

She could be dangerous but...

She was his lucky star right now.

He would bring her and her sister back to the Rainfrew family.

There was no need to consult the rest of the group.
