12 The Elevator

The entire elevator shaft was full of blood. Hanging from a hole in the ceiling were a pair of woman legs, the feet still wearing stiletto shoes. Below stood a twelve year old girl. Zombie, of course. She had lost her left eye, and there was a hole in place of her belly. She was constantly trying to reach the legs above her and was jumping on her own organs, fallen on the floor.

Nora stood there, frozen up. The doors closed themselves.

"NO WAY ! I don't want to go in there !"

She turned away but after a few steps, she didn't move any further. She remembered her sister was on the twelfth floor. And she was on the forty-fifth. She couldn't go all the way using the stairs. She'd die of exhaustion. And the scenes she would saw could possibly be worse. Plus she still needed to find food for her sis and Daisy. If she really went on her feet, they'd have to wait for hours. Millie is a teenage girl who needs to eat more because she's still growing, and since they're in the maternity ward, Daisy is a young mother who gave birth a few days ago and needs to breastfeed her son. She can't make them wait more than needed.

Sighing in defeat, she came back before the doors. And pressed the b.u.t.ton again. The door opened and the same scene appeared before her eyes.

Nora hardly repressed her nausea and went in. She indicated the floor she wanted to go to and the descent began. Feeling more and more sick each time her eyes watched what surrounded her, she decided to close them.

But it became worse.

The foul smell of festering flesh invaded her nostrils and the sounds of the girl hoping on her organs made her unable to escape this scene. But the more she wanted to ignore it, the more everything made her more conscious of it. "Don't throw up, don't throw up, don't throw up..." She hoped the elevator would be faster. Instead, it seemed to her it took an eternity. She opened one eye and discovered she was only three floors away from her destination. She prayed her stomach would resist a bit longer.

Finally, she arrived. The twelfth floor.

But while the elevator stopped itself, the shaft stabilized itself with a small shake. But it was enough for the legs to fall on the ground. She discovered at that moment that those members had been separated from their owner quite violently, like they were teared up. The little girl threw herself on them and started to eat voraciously.

Nora went out of the elevator.

And threw up.
