The next time we woke up, I was a Nixie, a water spirit shape-s.h.i.+fter on the German mythology. And my brother was a Pixie, a benign fairy-like being out of the Celtic stories. We didn't know what happened but it seems that we were transported to other world too. Because even if this place has the same technology than my original world... it doesn't have the same geography, morals or logic. Mainly because it's full of creatures like us. The world is still full of humans... but between the humans, a lot of humanoid mythic creatures live too. And the society seems to have been like this a lot of time...

The only big problem is the security... or the criminality rate... with this many monsters, was expected. But there are a lot of criminals between the monsters. And I found out that the hard way... but that's another story... now, 10 years later. I'm one of the best private detectives out there... and one of the few that is.

I lived 9 years with Pix on Pistia. the city of the water. And we had our reputation on the streets... we had given up on the idea of going back to our world as we couldn't find any clue. but one day we had the case that would begin everything...

[Flashback, Narrator PoV]

Nix was sitting on an armchair with Pix watching TV. Nix had shape-s.h.i.+fted himself as a Pixie with blue long hair, while his brother Pix had green spiky hair and green clothes.

''why are you also a Pixie right now?'' asked confused Pix

''because this body is useful... I can change to something else if you want, but this way the both of us can be in the armchair... if I change, armchair is mine...'' said Nix grinning.

''no, no, this is ok! Seriously... you are so different on home... it's like there were two inside you!''

''there are a lot of minds inside me, Pix... remember that my personality changes with my body...''

''yeah, that's why you don't let me mount you when you are a wyvern... it would be faster than a car, you know?''

''I said no! I'm more angry as a wyvern... and because of that, I haven't tried a dragon yet...''

''whatever... it's you the one who drives anyway...'' said Pix, and went flying to the kitchen.

Nix was there, thinking about the different transformations. When a knock on the door of their apartment startled him. ''I'll open, don't worry'' said Pix. And Nix continued to ponder on what would happen if he tried a legendary water creature like a kraken...

''Nix! A client!'' said Pix, making Nix shape-s.h.i.+ft to his normal human form. ''this way'' said Pix, leading the client to a room they had with a table and two chairs.

Nix entered the room when the client had already sit down, and he did the same. On this moment he could see the client, and it was an adult Sylph that had a white dress and white hair that moved from left to right, even if there wasn't any air current on the room. Pix sat down on Nix's shoulder and Nix begun the talk.

''what is the problem, miss...'' said Nix. And the woman's face turned red ''oh! Sorry! My name is Luft... you are the detective Nix, right?''

''that's right... what do you need?'' said Nix again. Slightly more impatient ''well, I've been receiving threat letters recently... and I would like for you to investigate it... look''

She saw his face and said ''I'm afraid that I might die because the other day, someone tried to kill me with a car. I need you to catch that criminal... sadly I couldn't see anything of the car. It was blue... I think.''

Nix begun to look to the letters and thought of a plan. ''fine, I'll do it. You just need to organize this weekend a party with all the people that calls you, or at least knows about the name Maria.''

''there are only 4 friends that know about it, I can organize a normal dinner with them. Is that fine?'' said Luft, who didn't seem to like parties.

''fine with me.'' Said Nix, who was more or less interested on the case. ''be very careful until the weekend, never be alone with only one of those friends. We need to make sure to discard them as suspects. Or do whatever you want... these are my advices''

''... Thank you. I think the four of them are innocent. But I can't think of anyone else that can possibly know about my name...'' said Luft. Who got up from the seat. ''how much it will be?''

''we'll talk if you survive. I don't want to get paid for a failed job.'' said Nix who also got up.'' anyway, a lot of threat letter cases, end up just fine... so don't worry.''

She then got to the door of the house and turned to say '' thanks for helping me, detective Nix.'' then she left the apartment.

''when someone is really anxious because of these things, is when they die. Keeping calm can do a lot to the possibilities of survival, I just tried to calm her.'' said Nix shape-s.h.i.+fting into the same blue Pixie.

''anyway, now that you are a Pixie too. Do you want to play Hide and Seek? It's really funny!'' said Pix getting up and stretching.

''you do know that we have 30 years each, right?'' said Nix in an amused tone. ''whatever, but you hide first, Pix. I like to seek''

''but of course Nix! You will never find me!'' said Pix and flew to the other rooms of the apartment.
