63 Facing The Gian

He activated another surveillance drone to initiate a thermal scan on the plant.

Two particular areas showed intense luminosity, which meant that they were emitting heat. The first area was the leaves themselves, whereas the other was inside the trunk, located near the bottom.

Long Yu concluded that the heat signature near the bottom of the trunk indicated the location of the mutant seed inside the plant.

Overall, the results of the thermal scan showed no changes since yesterday.

To start the first step of the plan, he exchanged for an item from the system. A small device that is slightly bigger than a pen slowly materialised as it hovered in front of him.

After that, Long Yu carefully attached it to the drone. This device could spit out pellets containing a special liquid from afar.

The pellets would explode upon contact, soaking the surface that they hit. Even if the surface was water resistant or coated in something similar, the liquid would seep in regardless, creating a truly permanent mark.

Of course, he did not plan to pelt the tree to death with paint. Rather, these marks were essential to his plan.

Long Yu then controlled the drone to fly around the plant's trunk from a distance, and activated the device remotely at the same time. The pellets were carefully shot at the trunk in their respective targets in four areas as planned. Once completed, Long Yu retrieved the drone and waited.

Around twenty minutes later, Long Yu sighed in relief. The marks created by the pellets had not disappeared.

He was initially afraid that its regeneration ability would activate and erase the marks. Without them, it would make the battle more troublesome.

Luckily, the vampire plant did not recognise the pellet shots as damage, hence the marks that the device created remained.

Long Yu then retrieved a few baby palm sized objects from the system storage. Each object has the shape of half a sphere, similar to a small cup. Its appearance was pitch black with a ring of red around it. Contrary to its simplistic look, hidden within it was a terrifying power.

After contemplating for an entire night, he finally finalised the plan that was in his mind and was ready to execute it.

This item, if used correctly, could instantly sever the vampire plant's body from its power source, the mutant seed, hence rendering its regeneration ability useless. At least this was what Long Yu theorised.

s.p.a.ce Splitter Mine (x4) [Set]

(Consumable)

A set of device that utilises the power of s.p.a.ce to split through almost anything. To activate its power, each mine must be placed within a certain proximity of one another.

Note:

-The positions that the mines are set will determine the splitting trajectory.

-Can only be activated once all devices are planted and armed.

-Can only be activated if all mines are placed within a range of 30 meters in diameter.

Exchange Price: x1 Level 1 mutant core + 50 million yuan

This set of mines costed him the last of his mutant cores, which he harvested from the Mother Yellow Sac Spider not long ago.

Although the devices are clearly powerful, the requirements imposed on them also limited its use.

For example, he needed to personally plant each mine at the position he wanted before he could activate it. Moreover, he had to be careful with its positioning so that the plane of the split would not accidentally cut through something else.

Of course, there were other items in the exchange system that could achieve similar results without such prerequisites, but those were not things he could currently afford.

On the other hand, things that he could afford, might also not necessarily work.

For instance, even if he exchanged for a sword that could cut through metal like tofu, its length would make it fundamentally useless in cutting the vampire plant down. It would be akin to stabbing a piece of toothpick into a slab of meat.

In truth, the s.p.a.ce Splitter Mine was something Long Yu inadvertently came across previously while browsing the system exchange list. Although it seemed heaven defying, the stringent requisites made him lose interest straight away.

It was only after he witnessed the vampire plant's size, that this item once again popped up in his head.

'To think I would actually need to exchange for this item…' Long Yu chuckled wryly.

Nonetheless, he felt that this plan was the most viable and swiftest way to take down the vampire plant.

Bombarding the plant to death with missiles and bombs might work, but there were too many variables and risks involved with this method. The mutant seed could potentially be lost or destroyed from the explosions.

'Alright, now that the preparation is ready, time to get started. Xixi, are you ready?' Long Yu spoke into the earpiece that was snuggled in his right ear. He was currently communicating with the Xixi who was inside the Black Shark.

"Ye-yes, big brother, I am ready!" the little la.s.s replied nervously.

"Relax, no need to be so nervous. Just do as we practiced and you'll be fine," Long Yu's gentle voice transmitted through the earpiece.

To be honest, he felt a bit nervous as well. After all, they only have one chance to pull this plan off. The s.p.a.ce Splitter Mine set was a consumable, meaning its power can only be activated once.

Long Yu's expression turned serious as he took a deep breath before slowly walking towards the colossal vampire plant. As he did so, tiny silver specks of nano-machines started to emerge from the skin of his limbs.

The nano-machines automatically a.s.sembled themselves into a layer of exoskeleton armor along Long Yu's limbs, which were then covered by a newly constructed layer of protective armor.

The armour's design perfectly streamlined the muscles on Long Yu 's limbs, causing no discomfort at all. Moreover, gleaming turquoise lines also ran along their surfaces, further emphasising its futuristic look.

At this moment, Long Yu looked like a cyborg from the future, heading into battle. He was now ready to face the giant.
