The next morning…

A pickup truck, following two military SUVs, entered the villa area.

"So fast?" Jiang Lius.h.i.+ looked out from his minibus.

Last night, he slept in the minibus, but he felt very comfortable. Only he was in the minibus so he could do anything he wanted. At the same time, he could scrutinize the control panel's options.

As a matter of fact, these people were even more dangerous than those monsters. As a result, Jiang Lius.h.i.+ had to carefully plan how to develop the MCV in the future.

At that time, the military vehicles arrived at his villa.

Xia Xun walked down from her car, but she didn't enter the villa right away. Thinking that she had to meet Jiang Lius.h.i.+, she began to feel uncomfortable. She didn't know how to talk with Jiang Lius.h.i.+. After a few seconds, she coughed gently and then revealed a smile.

Just then, the minibus' door suddenly opened, and Jiang Lius.h.i.+'s figure appeared before the entrance. "I'm here."

 Xia Xun was suddenly shocked. Jiang Lius.h.i.+ had seen her awkward gestures!

"Is everything okay?" Jiang Lius.h.i.+ asked.

Xia Xun recovered at once and answered, "Yes. We found everything you needed in the warehouse. We lacked in quant.i.ties of a certain material, but we removed it from an abandoned building." That pickup truck was loaded with all the materials.

"If it's inconvenient for you to move all these, then rest a.s.sured, I've brought a few people to help you move them wherever you need to," said Xia Xun. And then she gradually regained her calmness.

"No, thank you." Jiang Lius.h.i.+ just gave a glance to that pickup truck. And then Ying came out and walked into the minibus.

Xia Xun was curious about what Jiang Lius.h.i.+ wanted to do. But then she saw a robotic arm stretching out of the minibus.

Although the officers and movers' faces wore a terrified expression, they still felt that it was an amazing sight. The thin robotic arm was simple but extremely flexible.

"Is this what you said...the special ability?" Xia Xun asked. Obviously, she hadn't believed him at first, but now…

Jiang Lius.h.i.+ just nodded because he didn't want to get into details.

"Well, Captain Jiang," Xia Xun said again. "My grandfather and I are very grateful to you because of your sincere help, so my grandfather decided to send a team to accompany you to northern Jiangsu. Their duty is to escort your team, but also to find information about the general situation along the way. You can command them however you see fit."

Hearing her words, Jiang Lius.h.i.+ frowned. And then he asked, "Investigate? For what?"

"Captain Jiang, you should be aware that Shenhai Island is under the attack of mutant earthworms. In this terrible world, the safety areas are just isolated territories created to protect the elite and some other survivors. Although we thought they'd protect us, boundless zombies and mutant beasts are running wild out of the walls. Once they attack, n.o.body can imagine the outcome. We want to investigate, and if possible find other areas and develop them." 

Xia Xun paused for a minute and then she said, "You should also know that Shenhai Island has suffered great losses because of a large-scale sacrifice… We received some news today… General Zhang was gravely injured, and his remaining soldiers brought him back to Senhai Island."

"Injured?" Hearing the news, Jiang Lius.h.i.+ frowned. He admired that General Zhang.

"Captain Jiang, you can rest a.s.sured that the team that'll accompany you will obey your every order, but they won't follow you to the end of your trip. After all, we can't get that far without the necessary preparations," Xia Xun said.

"If you encounter any mutant beasts on the road or something else, and whether your team kills it, or its killed by the combined effort of both parties, its carca.s.s and everything else will belong to you, Captain Jiang." Seeing that Jiang Lius.h.i.+ remained silent, Xia Xun added.

"Good." Jiang Lius.h.i.+ said, "Inform your team to wait for us at the gate tomorrow morning, that's when we'll leave." All the materials had been carried down, so he did not want to chat with Xia Xun further. He bid his farewell and returned to the minibus.

Xia Xun took a step forward, but the minibus' door closed before she could even speak. Looking at this closed door, Xia Xun really wanted to shoot at it. She hadn't finished talking!

In her mind, Jiang Lius.h.i.+ was not as bad as she had thought when she first met him. Unfortunately, she thought it was all an illusion! They were the same age, but how could he be so cold with a lady!?

"Well, he promised, afterward you should act together with s.h.i.+ Ying Squad," Xia Xun went back and said to an officer. And then she left angrily.

"Why is she so angry?" The officer asked.

"Be quiet! Didn't you see that Jiang Lius.h.i.+ was the one who annoyed her?" Another officer said.
