43 Madam Mame

Bryok knocked lightly before entering the house, he opened it just slightly and took a peek. A 30-something woman inside was still sleeping soundly. He opened the door a little more, just enough for him to walked inside, he commanded the guard to dropped the hostage on the floor and exited the room quickly.

Once the door was closed again, Bryok walked closer to the bed and shook the woman's shoulder slightly.

"Mame..." He said softly in his deep, burly voice "Wake up, I have got something for you."

"What is it!" Without any hesitation, the woman pulled the cover over her head, ignoring what Bryok just said.

"Mame, this creature is the rarest in the world, you don't want to see it?" Bryok gently teased, he was waiting for her to take the bait.

"Shut up! Every time you said that it always turned out to be something dumb." The woman peek opened her eyes to looked at Bryok annoyingly, her eyebrowed furrowed deeper than the wrinkles on his face.

"If you don't believe me, just take a look." Bryok inched his eyes to the creature on the floor, Mame lazily lifted her head. Though after just a glance, her eyes opened wider than before, she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"Is that?..." The pure white creature laid weakly on the floor half-way curled up into a transparent ball. Mame had a double-take, she gasped as she inched her body closer.

"It is! That's the nine-tail." Bryok smiled proudly, he huffed his chest, preparing for all the praises he was about to receive.

"No way..." Mame gasped again loudly, she flipped her cover to the side and quickly got closer to inspect the little creature, a sweet floral scent filled up her mind as soon as she was able to get close.

"How did it get here?" Mame carefully observed the body and warily flipped her over, wiping its' hair out of the way.

"Well techni..."

"WHAT IS THIS! IT'S JUST A CHILD!" Before Bryok could finish his sentence, Mame's shrieking voice had taken over. This female was probably less than half her age, she was furious at him for kidnapping a young child. No matter how old Bryok was, he was still the idiot with the dirt brain.

"Trust me, Mame, it's really is the nine-tail, its meat will heal you, we just need to perform the..." The woman glared at him before he could finish, Bryok swallowed his words in a big gulp, he knew she didn't like to bring up this topic.

"Are you still obsessed over that gibberish?" Mame's eyebrows scrunched up deeply, even though she looked around 30s, there was no sign of wrinkles on her face if she wasn't frowning so hard, showing how angry she was.

"I-I..."

"Haiz..." The woman sighed sadly, she looked at the poor, innocent child on the ground lifelessly laid like a corpse, it was her mistake for letting any false hopes existed in her spouse's mind. It had been many years since they conquered the snake's territory, the memory of the words that the old female snake said had long faded in her mind. Though it was a different story for Bryok.

Mame picked up the little female and laid her on her own bed, the cold, damp floor was not the place for a fragile child like this to rest.

"Mame!" Bryok tried to stop her midway but with one spine-chilling glance from her, the giant black bull had to step back into the corner, whimpering in frustration "We will never know if we don't at least try it."

"I know my body better than anyone, it's not going to work. Just when are you going to stop believing in fairy tail?"

Mame acted like a gentle mother, she tugged Yilas in under the blanket tightly, she thought that the little girl must have been terrified, she must say sorry once she woke up.

"How? How can you act so oblivious to all this! How can you ignore this G.o.d-given chance?" Bryok got impatient, he started to raise his voice toward his spouse. He thought she would be more than happy to hear this.

"There's no such thing Bryok! How can anyone eat a child just to give birth to one of their own? Even if it was true, how can you be so cruel, have you lost your mind?"

Mame also got agitated with her senseless spouse, his selfish greed had once again clouded his judgment. The Bryok of 20 years ago was a righteous beast, the hero of his town. Time and selfishness had changed him a whole lot during those times.

Mame demanded Bryok to leave the place, he was still fighting for a reason but his female completely ignored him, arguing with his nonsense would only give her a headache.

She looked at the unconscious Yilas and then looked at the large scar on her stomach.

"Sorry sweet child." Mame gently brushed Yilas's smooth sleek hair to comfort her "It must have been hard for you...".

"AAAAGGGGGHHHHH...!!!"

"YILa.s.sSSS...!!!!"

The two continuous cries and shrieks webbed together like a symphony of terror in the deep dark wood. Neo and Viosus desperately screamed in frustration.

Neo was about to take off and fly away, he didn't know where he was heading but saving Yilas was all he could think of. Suddenly, his train of thought was interrupted by the sound of a large herd coming from about 7 miles away, only his sharp ears and eyes could detect them that quickly.

" A herd is coming!" Neo turned his head to that direction, he flung himself on the high tree branch for a better view.

"How many?" The worn-out Sabal tiredly asked as he breathed out harshly, he suspected he must have broken a rib bone during the chase.

Neo listened carefully before answering "30... no, 40."

"Tsk!" Sabal couldn't keep in his annoyance, he thought those beasts were too persistent.

"We must lead them away from the main house." Vio had stopped the tears from his eyes, with the cracked voice he stated. At least he must keep everybody else safe, she wouldn't want anyone else to get hurt.

"Neo! Distract them away." Vio continued, the herd had closed in about 5 miles away, even him could sense them clear as day now.

"B-But what about Yilas? Where is she now?"

"The snake is right, we can't get her back in this condition. But we also can't let the rest die because of our mistake." Viosus stated coldly, recomposing himself.

"But where is she, why aren't you two telling me? Is Yilas alright?"

Viosus held his silence and came to lift Sabal up, he had Sabal's right arm over his shoulder and his hands hang on its waist tight. They must keep going and run away from the main house.

"SAY SOMETHING!" All Neo's effort of yelling was pointless, Vio and Sabal couldn't allow him to act recklessly so they just ignored him. Neo soon realized their motive and he must act quickly to get them to talk.

"If I take you and lead the herd to the Boar clan, the main house will be saved."

Viosus's body frozen, Sabal could felt him choking up in his throat. Sabal looked at Viosus concerned if it was such a good deal why the fox hadn't accepted it.

"No..." Viosus lowered his head and resumed walking "We shall not beg not those beasts for help."

"If you want them to survive, that's the only way, Vio!" Neo said sternly, he didn't want to force the fox but it wasn't time to held his grudge. "But I will only help if we come back for Yilas as soon as the herd is taken care of. So tell me what happened..."

Vio unintentionally tensed up, his hand squeezed tight onto Sabal's wrist. Even Sabal had to whip his tail to knock some senses back into Vio.

Sensing the big herd closing in on them, Neo didn't let Vio have any time to object his offer, he transformed into a giant hawk and grabbed the two securely with his claws before launching into the night sky, driving the animal herd away from the fox's clan house, leading them to an unkown territory.
