Chapter 659 - Barging In

Chapter 659: Barging In

It was the other fairy who spoke.

Her answer was brief, but it was clear.

Lin Jin nodded and thanked her. Then, he turned to Xiang Yun who still had her head down. After a thought, he flipped his palm over to reveal a pill prescription and handed it to her.

“You are an expert in pelletization so your talents shouldn’t be buried away. I have a prescription here that I don’t quite understand. Please help me take a look at it.”

Without waiting for Xiang Yun’s response, he walked away after passing the strip of paper to her.

It was impressive that Yan Shenjun knew of Lin Jin’s inevitable return, but to have him wait obediently? Lin Jin wouldn’t do that.

Now, Lin Jin had to conduct himself in a manner that indicated he had strong backing.

While walking out, he passed through the pavilions in the cave and the fake pond. Many immortal servants tried to stop him along the way, only to receive harsh reprimands from Lin Jin.

Lin Jin was sure that Yan Shenjun had specifically instructed these immortals not to be rude to or offend him, so Lin Jin had nothing to fear now.

He was simply barging his way out.

When he arrived at the main hall out front, Lin Jin was stopped by two immortal servants of higher cultivation levels. Although they didn’t resort to physical action, their spells alone were enough to hold Lin Jin back.

Lin Jin planned to cause a fuss so that he could gauge Yan Shenjun’s current attitude. So, he drew his sword.

Sword Energy overflowed.

Lin Jin didn’t learn any erudite sword spells nor did he practice his swordsmanship at all. That posed zero issues because Clear Wind himself could already exude an oppressing aura.

The two half immortals blocking his way lost their spirit immediately. Lin Jin may be a mortal, but the blade he held was a genuine immortal sword, and its razor-sharp Sword Energy could cut them down like a hot knife running through butter.

Because he intended to cause trouble, Lin Jin hacked at them.

Like a laser beam, the Sword Energy swept forward, forcing the half immortals to dodge the attack. Although no one got hurt, part of the stone lion statue shattered into pieces.

However, the Sword Energy continued sweeping forward as if trying to cut the entire hall in half.

Just then, a person leaped out with an outstretched arm. Black energy gathered to form a large hand, stopping this Sword Energy.

Lin Jin looked over and thought the man looked familiar.

Then, Lin Jin remembered.

‘Black Water Taoist is here?’ Lin Jin was shocked. Back at Arid Continent, after destroying the Water God Cult, only Black Water Taoist was missing during the chaos.

Lin Jin considered the many possible escape routes but none of them involved coming here to the extraterritorial zone. To think he even teamed up with Yan Shenjun. Upon closer observation, Lin Jin noticed that Black Water Taoist had gained a few upgrades since their previous encounter. The black metal claw glove, in particular, seemed like a powerful magic treasure.

It managed to stop the Sword Energy with relative ease, even though the two immortal servants were unable to do anything to Lin Jin’s attack.

Crushing the Sword Energy, Black Water Taoist glared at Lin Jin with pure hostility in his eyes. As if he recalled something, Black Water Taoist suppressed his malice and stepped forward.

“You are Lin Jin? My master has instructed that if you return, you will have to wait here for a moment. He will see you after he’s done handling his matters.”

Black Water Taoist wasn’t making up lies. Yan Shenjun had indeed made such instructions so Black Water Taoist.

Interestingly enough, Black Water Taoist felt guilty for telling Lin Jin to wait. After all, Yan Shenjun personally told him that Curator, the person who destroyed his Water God Cult, was an unfettered immortal.

Black Water Taoist knew what an unfettered immortal was. Even his master, Yan Shenjun, would fall to an unfettered immortal.

Upon learning this, Black Water Taoist started fearing for his life. Though, he was also fortunate.

He made the right call to escape from Arid Continent. Otherwise, weeds would be growing on his grave by now. Something baffled Black Water Taoist – if he had been up against an unfettered immortal, he couldn’t have possibly escaped with his life.

Black Water Taoist didn’t understand it, but Yan Shenjun was always right. Black Water Taoist was so apprehensive toward his new master that he dared not resist the man at all. Whatever Yan Shenjun said, he would believe whole-heartedly.

Although Yan Shenjun did not go into the specifics, Black Water Taoist was no fool. If Lin Jin was truly an unfettered immortal’s disciple, even Yan Shenjun couldn’t afford to offend this young man, much less himself.

Other things confused him too. For example, why did Lin Jin come back after escaping Why was Yan Shenjun so sure that Lin Jin would return?

Something must be up, but Black Water Taoist was clueless. He didn’t dare to ask about it, because Yan Shenjun hated busybodies.

What he should know would be told, and what he shouldn’t know, mustn’t be asked.

Regardless, Black Water Taoist was now aware that his wish to avenge the Water God Cult would go unfulfilled unless Curator was only a profound immortal. It was completely different with him being an unfettered immortal. If revenge was what he wanted, Yan Shenjun was the most likely candidate to achieve it.

Black Water Taoist could only suppress his desire for vengeance for now.

‘There will be other chances in the future!’ Black Water Taoist comforted himself.

And so, after relaying his master’s message, Black Water Taoist said nothing else. Lin Jin heard him loud and clear but he refused to pay Black Water Taoist any mind. The latter was merely a pawn now, a lapdog that Yan Shenjun was keeping.

Lin Jin only had one choice to make. He could either wait here patiently or barge into the hall.

‘How could a person with an unfettered immortal as his backing wait here obediently? Especially since I’ve started a fallout,’ thought Lin Jin after analyzing the situation.

He might be in trouble if he waited here instead.

It was wiser to take the gamble.

A plan slowly formed in Lin Jin’s mind, which included his suspicions of Yan Shenjun’s thoughts and opinions. Whether or not they were true, Lin Jin wasn’t sure, but at least it was a possibility.

After thinking it through, Lin Jin took a deep breath and moved toward the hall.

Did they truly expect him to wait here like an idiot?

Forget it.

“What are you doing? Stop,” barked Black Water Taoist upon seeing Lin Jin approach him.

However, Lin Jin continued forward.

“Step back!” Black Water Taoist flared up in anger as ominous black energy gathered and rose from his Ghost Hand. All of them could hear the distinct ghastly screams and wails from the hand.

Lin Jin clutched the hilt of his Clear Wind Sword.

His situation was somewhat comparable to Black Water Taoist’s. Both of them weren’t immortals and they relied mostly only on their magic treasures.

In other words, the outcome of their battle rested in the relative strength of their magic treasures.

The Ghost Hand didn’t look weak, but Lin Jin had faith in Clear Wind’s strength.
