Chapter 566 - All Good Things Must Come To An End

Chapter 566: All Good Things Must Come To An End

“Curator left?”

Feng Junwu was stunned. He had seen Curator salute the crowd and bidding them farewell, so he must have departed from their city.

As expected of an expert. They came and left so easily.

Feng Junwu himself said it too.

Someone nearby echoed this sentiment too. If Curator wasn’t a capable man, he would be perceived as putting on a mere act. If that was the case, he’d be executed without mercy.

Since Curator wasn’t that kind of person, it was obvious that he would not invoke such a reaction.

Many were reluctant to see Curator leave. Some even looked upset and most of them were the academy’s lecturers.

They wanted further explanations from Curator since some parts of his lecture were too profound for them to comprehend.

“What a pity!” muttered Zhong Zifeng under his breath.

Curator may have left, but his reputation was here to stay.

Lin Jin snuck back into Heavenly Spiral Academy in the middle of the night.

To prevent running into anybody, he deliberately used Camouflage to conceal his presence. Though, no matter how many people he could deceive, he couldn’t deceive Shu Xiaolou.

Shu Xiaolou waited at Peach Blossom House for him. The instant she saw him return, she dragged him into a room.

Lin Jin felt helpless, thinking that he probably wouldn’t get any sleep tonight.

Sure enough, Shu Xiaolou’s interrogation lasted the entire night. Fortunately, Lin Jin came prepared to he managed to answer all her questions until finally, Shu Xiaolou accepted his explanation.

When Lin Jin was left alone, he finally had time to plan his next move.

Both his missions at Heavenly Spiral had been achieved.

One was to become a Rank 4 beast appraiser, and the other was to borrow Daojun’s Hieroglyphic.

There was no reason for him to stay at Heavenly Spiral anymore. However, Lin Jin wouldn’t leave just yet because it wasn’t guaranteed that the world outside was safe yet. He could use this time to cultivate the skills Daojun had left behind before moving on.

After that, he would go searching for the treasures Daojun left behind so if he ever met Corpse Taoist alone out there, he would be confident enough to kill the enemy and prevent future troubles.

Daojun’s Hieroglyphic contained tons of spells and cultivation practices. There were even some that Daojun hadn’t practiced before. Lin Jin decided to stick to his maxim of not biting off more than one could chew.

Strictly speaking, Daojun had learned countless spells and techniques but Lin Jin thought it was excessive. He planned to learn only one or two and give up on the rest.

Only with focus could he truly level up.

Lin Jin’s first pick was the ‘Five Element Armor’.

This was a defense spell. Once cast, energies of all five elements would gather around him to form an armor that was strong enough to fend off an immortal’s attack.

It was said that Daojun only survived the Rank 9 immortal devouring beast’s attacks thanks to this powerful Five Element Armor.

There were five levels to this skill and Daojun only cultivated up to level three back then. In Lin Jin’s opinion, if Daojun had further improved his skill level, he wouldn’t have gotten hurt at all.

A technique that protected one’s life had to be mastered.

Besides that, Lin Jin planned to learn an offense skill.

Offense was the best defense after all.

He picked ‘Blazing Sky Palm’ for this.

The skill was as powerful as it sounds. It was said that at the maximum level, one could cover the entire sky with his palm and set the world ablaze, scorching everything into nothingness.

That was the peak of the skill. On a smaller scale, a gentle push of the hand could send forth a wave of blazing heat. This skill was considered a cultivation method as well, and it could improve a person’s base realm level as well as their spirit energy capacity.

Lin Jin did not choose his skills at random; he had given them all serious thought before making his decision.

After that was done, he proceeded to practice the skills.

Besides giving lectures and teaching his private students, Lin Jin spent the remaining of his time cultivating. With this, Peach Blossom House became much quieter compared to before.

Shang’er and Goldy had been sent home by Lin Jin after the battle. They took Senior Mo, who had shown noticeable results in his cultivation, along with them. Even Shu Xiaolou stopped bugging Lin Jin all the time. She could tell that Lin Jin was practicing something. Although she was a strange character, she knew where the boundary was drawn.

In fact, she would even help Lin Jin out by turning down unnecessary social events. There were even times when she rejected the emperor’s invitations.

Time passed quickly and two months passed in the blink of an eye.

Today was the emperor’s birthday. The internal officer and steward, Yan Quan, personally came to invite Lin Jin to this celebration. Lin Jin had to go. His cultivation of both skills was beginning to yield results. Although he couldn’t say that he had mastered them completely, he had at least built a solid foundation, and he could utilize them now.

Of the five levels of the Five Element Armor, Lin Jin had cultivated up to level two. Of course, he still couldn’t compare to Daojun. However, if he were to go up against opponents like Corpse Taoist, the latter would find it incredibly challenging to break Lin Jin’s defense skill.

For the Blazing Sky Palm which had seven levels, Lin Jin had cultivated up to level three.

That was his current limit and even his base cultivation had improved considerably, making him much stronger than the Lin Jin from two months ago.

For the time being, further progress was near impossible for Lin Jin, so there was no meaning in continuing to cultivate. Lin Jin had also planned to leave after participating in the emperor’s birthday celebration.

Counting back the time, three months have passed since he came to Heavenly Spiral City.

During the banquet, Lin Jin sat with Feng Ziqian and Princess Ruo Li to chat over drinks. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, and Lin Jin took the opportunity to bid them farewell.

Feng Ziqian expected Lin Jin to return to his homeland soon, so he wasn’t all that surprised. The emperor asked him to stay out of courtesy and remarked it was a pity that Curator couldn’t show up today.

Lin Jin flashed him an awkward smile.

He thought, ‘If Curator comes, I’ll have to be absent. Also, the last time Curator showed up, he caused such a huge commotion. It wouldn’t seem appropriate for him to show up so soon again.’

He would leave it at that.

The academy already knew that Lin Jin’s tenure had ended, so they didn’t say much about his departure. It was obvious that the lecturers, including Zhong Zifeng, were somewhat sad to see him go. After all, they had been colleagues for three months. After parting today, who knew when they would meet again? Maybe, they wouldn’t even meet anymore.

Of course, Lin Jin wasn’t leaving right away. He still had to return to Peach Blossom House to pick up his belongings.

Inside Peach Blossom House, the carp, white snake, crane, and hawk were completely different compared to three months ago. Although their cultivation realms varied, they had all built their foundations and possessed monster auras now. Among them, the carp’s cultivation level was most profound. After all, it was already capable of refining its hyoid bone before Lin Jin came. In the past three months, the carp had learned the most from Lin Jin’s casual lessons. When it heard that Lin Jin was leaving, it surprised everyone by leaping out of the pond. By curving its tail, the carp bowed before Lin Jin as it uttered farewell.

Lin Jin had it return to the water quickly.

“All four of you can continue coming here to cultivate. I may not be in Peach Blossom House anymore, but Shu Xiaolou may come here from time to time. Even if she doesn’t, the four of you can learn from each other and continue to improve. Also, I’ve left some cultivation methods in Peach Blossom House so the carp can read it to you,” instructed Lin Jin.

There was one other thing he came back to Peach Blossom House for, and that was to bid Shu Xiaolou goodbye.

Shu Xiaolou hadn’t attended the emperor’s birthday feast.

She was always strong-willed. Whatever Shu Xiaolou wanted to do, no one could stop her. Whatever she refused to do, begging would never work.

Since this morning, Shu Xiaolou had been avoiding Lin Jin.

She didn’t want Lin Jin to leave and Lin Jin could tell.

However, Lin Jin couldn’t stay at Heavenly Spiral City forever. What’s more, all good things must eventually come to an end.
