Chapter 123 - The Visitation Hall Reopened

Chapter 123: The Visitation Hall Reopened

By the time he left the Friar Association, it was already dark outside.

Lin Jin headed straight for home without stopping by anywhere else. During his journey, he continued researching the Fire Spirit Possession. Although the Museum of Deadly Beasts had detailed explanations, the actual cultivation process and practice still depended on Lin Jin himself.

Lin Jin’s attribute was fire.

His name was chosen based on the five main elements. ‘Lin Jin’ was a reference to an ancient phrase, ‘flames that end forests and devour the heavens’. ‘Lin’, his surname, also meant ‘forest’ and his given name, ‘Jin’ symbolized ‘the end’.

Hence, to invoke fire, he could use the most basic Firelight spell. For further improvements, he would have to use ‘Firelight Ace’.

So now, he had to perfect ‘Firelight Ace’ to maximize the performance of the Fire Spirit Possession.

When he got home, Lin Jin strolled over to the beast pen. The shadow wolf was recovering at a satisfactory rate. Goldy had gone off frolicking somewhere but Lin Jin was sure that the rooster would come back once it was completely dark out. Xiao Huo trotted to his spot in the pen and curled up into a furry ball. After following Lin Jin around for the entire day, he was exhausted.

Lin Jin suddenly remembered that today was a special day.

Seven days ago, the Museum of Deadly Beasts’ Visitation Hall officially opened. According to one of the rules, the hall would be opening again today.

Checking the number of beasts recorded in the museum thus far, the number had exceeded several hundred while the number of rare beasts recorded was over sixty. If the number of rare beasts recorded hits the hundred mark, Part Three of the Beast Energy Formation would be awarded.

To Lin Jin, the Visitation Hall’s advantages didn’t stop at increasing the recorded number of rare beasts. Visitors could ask for anything regarding pet beasts in the museum, for example, treatment solutions and evolution methods. Though, these consultations weren’t provided free of charge. So if Lin Jin had anything he wanted, he could request it from the visitors.

Lin Jin recalled the Visitation Hall’s opening time to be around late evening, sometime between 7-9 pm.

Of course, Lin Jin wasn’t the only person waiting for the hall’s opening.

Inside the imperial palace of Jade Dragon Kingdom’s Jade Dragon City, the seventh princess, He Qing, was ready for her visit.

Her pet beast, the tetrawinged butterfly dragon was now at Rank 3.

Three days ago, she had accumulated the materials required for her pet’s evolution and tried out the method given to her by the ‘curator’.

Back then, He Qing was still skeptical. No one knew if the curator’s advice would work or if it was even effective at all.

But after trying it out, the results surprised her.

He Qing remembered clearly how everyone was shocked to find out her pet beast had evolved. In the end, even her father, the current emperor of the Jade Dragon Kingdom paid her a personal visit.

Several beast appraisers from the Beast Appraisal Association Headquarters were summoned to verify the evolution. They were all equally amazed.

Generally speaking, He Qing’s tetrawinged butterfly dragon shouldn’t have been able to evolve, at least not right now. Even the most experienced beast appraiser from headquarters confirmed this fact.

Hence, this ‘accident’ piqued their curiosity.

However, He Qing never let out so much as a squeak about the ‘curator’.

This was one of the curator’s rules. They were not to speak of the Visitation Hall to anyone.

Now that He Qing knew how magical this ‘curator’ was, she swore to never randomly run her mouth.

She was looking forward to her second visit as there were many more questions on pet beasts she wanted to ask.

The other people who shared her sentiments were Black Crow and the other visitor, Phantom Thief Jiang Ziqi.

They too had requests for the ‘curator’ so the last seven days felt like torture for them.

Finally, during their agonizing wait, the Visitation Hall opened.

Standing on an uninhabited mountain, as Black Crow clenched the visitor token in his hand, he felt a surge of warmth coming from the item. He knew it was starting.

The black falcon shape-shifted into a normal crow and perched on Black Crow’s shoulder. As the heat from the wooden token intensified, a portal opened up out of nowhere before them.

It was like a door that led to another dimension.

After seeing it, Black Crow grabbed the large bag beside him and stepped into the portal without hesitation.

It was the same dark, empty space. The same wooden door. Black Crow pushed the door impatiently and went inside.

He was the first person to enter the Visitation Hall.

Coming right after him was the Phantom Thief, Jiang Ziqi.

This time, Jiang Ziqi made no attempts to conceal his presence but he was still dressed in an outfit that completely covered his body. No one could see his face.

Upon seeing Black Crow, Jiang Ziqi nodded slightly.

Black Crow nodded back.

In the outside world, he was an expert assassin that dispatched humans easily. With a Rank 4 pet beast, he could do whatever he wanted. But inside the Visitation Hall, Black Crow tried his best to maintain his best behavior.

The feeling of shock given to him by the ‘curator’ since his last visit was still fresh in his mind.

The third person to push the wooden door open was He Qing. When she came in, Black Crow and Jiang Ziqi immediately turned towards her.

They weren’t looking at He Qing, but at her pet beast, the tetrawinged butterfly dragon.

A Rank 3 pet beast was poles apart from a Rank 2. Being exceptional individuals, both Black Crow and Jiang Ziqi possessed some basic pet beast appraisal skills that were useful in their line of work.

And since He Qing didn’t intentionally try to conceal her pet’s strength, Black Crow and Jiang Ziqi could tell from first glance that her tetrawinged butterfly dragon had evolved into Rank 3.

At this, both men drew in a breath of cold air as the anticipation within stirred.

The excitement was intense.

They remembered clearly how this tetrawinged butterfly dragon was only Rank 2 during their last meeting. Although the creature had amazing potential and a unique bloodline, to evolve in such a short amount of time was practically impossible.

But now, the unimaginable had become reality.

During their last visit, the ‘curator’ had issued the tetrawinged butterfly dragon an evaluation report, providing it a specific evolution method.

The fact that the tetrawinged butterfly dragon was able to evolve in less than seven days, only proved how remarkable the ‘curator’ was.

They turned to the second floor’s metal door in unison, waiting for this mysterious and phenomenal ‘curator’ to arrive.

However, before the metal door even opened, there were disturbances behind several wooden doors on either side of the first floor.

The first door to open was door number eight, which was situated right next to Black Crow.

A tyrannosaurus poked its head out.

This tyrannosaurus pet beast was wearing sturdy armor. It had a large head with a pair of hostile and savage-looking eyes.

“A Rank 3 tyrannosaurus!” As an expert, Black Crow could easily tell the dinosaur’s rank. From behind the hulking reptile emerged an old man with his hands held behind his back.

This elderly man wasn’t very tall, but his hair was flowing freely. He exuded a domineering air and wore an arrogant expression as if everyone else in the room was below him.

It wasn’t a surprise to see an expert with a Rank 3 pet beast act so proudly.

After the old man stepped into the hall, he scanned the area before scoffing, “Hmph! What is all this mumbo jumbo about? Where is this?”

His tone was bitter.

Obviously, no one answered him.

Jiang Ziqi had a detached personality and wasn’t good at communicating with other people. He was a quiet character. As for Black Crow, who else could compare to him when it came to being pompous?
