70 Maiden In Love

It was a Sat.u.r.day. Guangxi had returned to the Old Mansion the night before. Actually, she secretly planned and arranged it such that Guangxi will not be home in the apartment today.

She had made a phone call to Mother Xue the week prior, and had insinuated, rather reminded her that she had not been seeing and spending precious time with her youngest dearest child of her, Xue Guangxi. Jinxu had exaggerated and had even fed her mother's sentiments for her youngest son. In the end, Guangxi was brought back to the old mansion for the weekends.

Of course, Xue Guangxi did not know the story behind it. He did not suspect at all. He did not know anything about what was scheduled today, and what will happen in Apartment 301.

It was because she will be having a guest today.

She was trying on all her dresses, and was inspecting herself closely in front of the mirror. She still did not seem satisfied. 'Not this one.' Shaking her head on her reflection in the mirror.

'This is too uncomfortable.'

'This is too long!'

'Oh, I like this one! Almost perfect but….'

She looked at the pile of dresses on top of her bed, and some more dresses scattered all around her.

She sighed. She's getting frustrated. She had not been this particular with her dress. 'I'm getting tired with all the cleaning and dress-choosing.'

Xue Jinxu decided to take a nap first. She woke up early at six in the morning because she could not sleep anymore out of excitement. At six in the morning, after taking a small breakfast and freshening up, she proceeded in her general cleaning.

It was currently eight in the morning, and she grew tired of all the activities. Her guest was expected to arrive at around ten.

Because of weariness, her nap took a little bit longer than expected. It took a good one hour! It was already nine in the morning when she woke up.

'Oh no. oh no, oh no!' She hurriedly, frantically circled the whole apartment doing this and that. She went back to her walk-in-closet, and closely inspected her dresses again. She was running out of time! At least now she had renewed energy from her little nap.

'Oh no, I Iook like a mess.' She was starting to get miserable and desperate.

'What if I just wear casual clothes? Jeans, s.h.i.+rt?'

'Should I… wear make-up?'

'Should I dress up? Like formally?'

'No, no… That won't do!'

She was getting extremely frustrated.

She checked all her dresses again. 'Settle with a dress! Just choose one, hurry!' She's scolding herself now.

'Those dresses are all you've got. Don't be too picky! There's no time left!'

Her hands were busy sorting out the dresses, her mind was busy scolding herself, and her eyes, was busy discerning.

She did not know dressing up could get as complicated as this! She's not even going to a ball, or a party but she's worrying if she's overdressed, or underdressed, or if her dress was too revealing or if she's too wrapped up. She's worrying if she looks feminine enough or looked like the tomboy that she sometimes was.

On top of that, she's not even going anywhere! She's only expecting a guest.

However, that guest was the most important VIP there could ever be.

Therefore, she had been fretting all morning, because he deserves only the best!

She had settled in wearing a modest sleeveless flowery yellow knee-length dress with frills along the hems of the dress. The prints were small, not too flashy. She looked feminine enough, basically just barely pa.s.sing her own standards. She put a cute little clip on her hair. Her jet-black hair was flowing behind her back to her waist.

'Should I wear make-up or not? What does he prefer?'

In the end, she decided on having the fresh no-makeup makeup look. Even so, she took quite a while to choose from her palette.

Next she examined all her set of jewelry, and perfume. Her hand hovered on top of her set.

'Is it too much if I wear jewelry at home? Is it excessive? Will it give a different, negative impression?'

'Should I wear perfume? Definitely.' She looked at her choices, and like before, also took a while to choose. Finally she settled on a perfume by Bvlgari.

She checked herself in the mirror again. She's mostly done now.

She turned her head, and wrinkled her face at the mess she created. She hurriedly cleaned up all the rejected dresses that were on her bed, and on all other surfaces. She packed up her makeup and perfumes.

She was ready now. She checked the time on her wall clock. It was ten minutes before ten.

She brewed tea then paced back and forth inside the apartment. She was worried.

'Is he on his way? Should I give him a call?'

She was still pacing back and forth when the doorbell rang.

*Ding* *Ding* *Ding*

She stopped walking around. She ran towards her mirror again to check on her appearance for the last time. She was extremely nervous!

She sauntered towards the door. She ma.s.saged the edges of her dress to smoothen it out. Then she proceeded in opening the door.

The white door slowly opened.

As if a b.u.t.ton was pushed, her countenance instantly turned into a glowing lovely pink, and her heart went, *thump* *thump* *thump* *thump*

Her heart, that was on a standstill for so long, went berserk, while caged inside her little body. Her soul could feel it vibrating, reverberating with such intensity that her body shook involuntarily. She was trembling with nervousness, with excitement, with antic.i.p.ation, with so much yearning.

Behind the door revealed the guest she had been waiting for, fretting for, all this time. 'Chen Linyun, my dear.' She thought.

Their eyes met.

Time stood still.
