The light of the red candles flickered a couple of times and made me feel anxious. Seeing me so nervous that I refused to blink, Xiang Qing thought it was funny and tried to persuade me to go to sleep, but I adamantly refused so he helplessly held me on his legs and leaned on the pillow. The two of us reclining on the pillows watched the red candles slowly burn out.

Early in the morning, at almost dawn, the red candles finally burned out safely. I sighed and finally closed my eyes to sleep while leaning on Xiang Qing's body.

Later in the day, when the sun was s.h.i.+ning in the sky brightly, I woke up and found that Xiang Qing was not in the room. I quickly jumped up to find him, not even bothering to get dressed I hurried to the door and just as I was about to open it, the door opened and Xiang Qing came in carrying a bowl of fish soup. When he saw me, he laughed and said,  "I won't disappear, don't worry. You should freshen up first, I cooked fish soup for you for lunch."

I was embarra.s.sed and nodded then rushed to the side where the wash basin he had already prepared was and washed up and after that, I was licking my paws in embarra.s.sment. Then next to me, I heard sudden laughter, I turned my head and saw Xiang Qing smiling at me, "It seems this your cat habit will unable to be changed for a lifetime."

"Do you want me to change?" I asked quickly. 

"I don't want you to, do what you like and do what you want to." Xiang Qing stood up and walked over to me and picked up a towel to dry face and then took me to the table and used a porcelain spoon to scoop a spoonful of fish soup and blew it and then put it to my lips lightly and carefully fed me the soup, "It's delicious." I turned to the side and eyed the big bowl of soup on the table.

Xiang Qing shook his head and said, "Not allowed to touch it, it's too hot now and it will hurt your mouth."

"I won't, I won't, I can scoop myself." Immediately I finished speaking, I grabbed the spoon from Xiang Qing's hand scooped up the fish soup. I blew on it until it was warm but didn't drink it, instead I put it to Xiang Qing's lips and said, "Husband, drink."

After gawking at me for a while, he finally opened his mouth and drank the fish soup, then sighed and said to me, "The Miao Miao now compared to the past has grown up a lot."

"They say that you have to invest in the harvest for it to get pay for it," I said this sentence twice like a tongue twister, "The husband and wife must love and respect each other to be happy."

Xiang Qing seems to be thinking about something and did not speak.

I blew another spoonful of fish soup and fed it to him and said, "For you, Miao Miao must grow up."

"After growing up, you have become even more charming and loveable." He reached out and took the spoon in my hand, "But today is the first day of the marriage, our future together is long, so let me feed my bride for today."

I nodded happily and relaxed and enjoyed being fed the soup.

"I'm sorry I forgot you." The fish soup was just done when Xiang Qing suddenly apologized to me, "When I met you for the first time in LouYing mountain, I should have said that to you."

I shook my head and said, "You didn't forget me. Never, you just forgot some small things."

"Why do you say that?" Xiang Qing asked. 

"Because you still fell in love with me very quickly. Yin zi said it is very difficult for a mortal to agree to marry a demon, but you were willing to marry me. Even when Xiao Mao lied to you that you will die if you consummate your marriage to a monster, you were still willing to marry me even though your life was on the line." I feel like I am very smart. "And when you were in Mao mountain, you said that you have seen me in a dream before, so you have never forgotten me."

"But..." 

"It doesn't matter if you really forgot me." I was full of confidence and continued, "I still love you, you still love me, what does it matter? You are still you even if you change a little, you will never someone else. In my eyes, you are still the same as the Bi Qinshen JUn who took me away from LouYing mountain over 500 years ago."

"I am human now. I will be old one day." Xiang Qing's eyes gleamed happily. 

"It doesn't matter if your appearance is as ugly as Xiao Tian, I will still love you." I tried to comfort him.

Xiang Qing couldn't help but laugh out loud with abandon, he seemed he had thrown away all his burdens and troubles.

I saw him laughing so much and cautiously asked, "If Miao Miao gets ugly, would you still like me?"

"How ugly?" Xiang Qing asked me.

"Well...as ugly as a dog?" I tried to think of a disgusting example.

"I'll still like you."

"How about as ugly as a mouse?"

"I still like you too." 

So I was finally rea.s.sured in my heart and let out a sigh of relief and said, "Then we are the same."

During our happiness and laughter filled moment, the sun moved brightly filled the yard. Xiang Qing looked at the sky and said, "I have lived in Heaven for thousands of years and did not have parents, so did not know what parental love was in heaven. Now, being reincarnated, I have experienced what it is like to grow up with parental love, even though I have recovered my memories, to my mother I am still her son, so we should go to visit her and greet her."

"Ah" I looked down and hurriedly asked in a quiet voice, "you really like mother-in-law?"

"Yes." Xiang Qing buried his head on my shoulder and expressed, "No one in my last life would sing a lullaby while I was sick. No one would rather eat only plain rice to give me all the delicious food. No one would have guided me and disciplined me on my mistakes. I am moved and grateful for this family."

I seemed to understand a bit and nodded: "If husband likes it then I like it too."

"My time with you in Heaven and the past 20 years living as Xiang Qing, are the happiest moments in my life." Xiang Qing held my hand tightly, "because I am no longer lonely."

"You will also be happy in the future," I swear.

Hand in hand we walked out of the house with the s.h.i.+ning brightly. Xiang Qing looked at me gently and repeated my vow, "We will be happy."

"What if mother-in-law does not like me?" as we reached mother-in-law's house, I stopped and asked

Xiang Qing patted my shoulder to give me courage and said, "Don't worry even if she does not like you, I will not let her have a chance to make things difficult for you. After all, for filial piety I can do it myself, you just have to be yourself and not cause trouble. After two years, we will go traveling and there will be few chances to come back."

"Other people's daughter-in-laws are virtuous and I cannot do anything..." I whispered.

"Be good, I like a wife who cannot do anything, I can't look in the eyes of those virtuous women." Xiang Qing tried to coax me.

"I can't do it." I quickly refused his good intentions. "I definitely can't let everyone say that your wife is the most stupid in the village!" 

"They are jealous of your beauty and so speak irresponsibly. " Xiang Qing advised, "and I don't care about those gossips."

"How can you let her hate me if you like my mother?!" I disregarded his words and courageously strode into the house to look for my mother-in-law.

"Wait!" Xiang Qing hurriedly chased after me.
