41 Chapter 41: She Had To Die.

Absorbing lightning in her body was no small joke!!

Even if it would help her raise a few levels from her original level and defeat her enemy, it does triple damage to her body internally.

Freya couldn't help but use the cards available in her hands in the current scenario.

Summoning this power when it can be used only when you are above Duke stage had its demerits.

She knew even with this additional power, she wouldn't be able to defeat the demon leader, Lyndel.

'Looks like, I would need your help after all.' she turned to gaze at Usui.

Usui was surprised when she looked at him.

"Why is she looking at me?!" he murmured sceptically.

Usui frowned when he saw her state. It didn't escape his eyes when her complexion s.h.i.+fted. He cursed his d.a.m.n body for not being useful when the time required.

'Strongest prince?!! d.a.m.n it!!!' he mocked himself.

He was more worried about him being in her way than helping her out with this poisoned body. He promised himself to find that stupid prince and break his bones once this battle is over.

Suddenly, he felt something licking his cheek and looked aside to see her beast rubbing his cheek. He figured it was trying to calm him down so he rubbed its chin, making it purr.

Just then, a loud snarl attracted their attention. Freya turned towards the demon girl, Eve who was glaring at her.

Eve looked at Adam's ashes and asked her, "Where did you get that dagger?"

Just from the looks of it alone, no one would have recognised it but when it pierced Adam, it shone brightly, slightly giving itself away.

Enraged, she yelled, "Where did you get that artefact?"

Freya smiled as she wiped her blade, "Why? it's not like you want it."

Eve gritted her teeth angrily at her. She couldn't believe that two people in this kingdom had artefacts which several would die to have.

Demons couldn't touch artefacts as it would burn them making it their ultimate enemy, just like how the fire would burn a normal human.

Eve smirked when she thought, 'The masked girl is useless now. Her body must be at its limits given that she hadn't taken a single step away from where she landed.'

She dashed towards the s.h.i.+eld laughing in her mind. She raised her hand, shaping it into a sword and attacked the s.h.i.+eld.

Usui had used up most last of his strength, conjuring the huge s.h.i.+eld. As it is, he didn't have enough strength to withstand the attack. He coughed up blood when the sword struck the s.h.i.+eld and shattered it.

Eve bellowed, "Let's see how your dear knight will save her people."

But, right when she finished her words, lightning fell down from the sky and struck in front of her.

She looked at Freya, who was in midair, glowering down at her.

"You-you are not supposed to move." Eve stammered.

'Her body should be screaming now! How is she moving?!'

Eve knew her power was more harmful than beneficial to her. The lightning by now would have gone berserk within her, destroying her cells.

But, here Freya stood smirking at her looking perfectly alright.

Freya narrowed her eyes, 'As expected, I won't be able to use more than three attacks.'

She glanced towards Liz who conjured up an ice-wall separating Eve from the gates the moment the s.h.i.+eld shattered.

Zelal was shaken out of his stance as he saw Liz conjuring up a wall.

He shook his head as he bent down and touched the ground.

Right then, the ground shook as a stone wall appeared right behind the ice wall, securing the gates.

Freya glanced at him gratefully and nodded. Now she can fight without any worries.

Zelal smiled as he gloated, 'Finally, I could be of use.'

Jinha laughed and wrapped his arm around his neck. "Look at you, showing off in front of her."

Zelal's smile s.h.i.+fted as he shook his arm off. He could feel her stare but chose to ignore it. He didn't want to embarra.s.s himself in front of her. He was sure he would blush deeply if he looked at her.

Hak raised a question, "Can she hold her off?"

Liz sighed, "She might win but her body won't be able to take it."

"We still have one more to deal with."

Everyone turned to look at Lyndel who was gazing at Freya with curiosity. Upon sensing their stares, she looked at them who had determination within their eyes.

She raised her brows surprised to find this quality in humans. She thought humans only knew how to run away in front of power. It's been years since she has faced against strong-willed humans.

'Looks like these bunches are different.'

Right when she finished her thought, she heard her subordinates scream and looked over to find lightning running through her body eventually causing her demise.

Lyndel tilted her head slightly as she watched her subordinate crumble into ashes placidly.

She knew that her subordinates wouldn't win against Freya. That power of hers accompanied by her artefact was more than enough to deal with her subordinates.

She would have won this battle if it was just her subordinates who arrived but she was here. That power of hers won't do anything to her even if Freya's body wasn't injured.

Even if Lyndel knew that Freya was at her last limits, she wouldn't let her live. It was better to kill her than have her come against our lord.

'If she didn't die today, it would be fatal for the demons if her strength flourished in future.'

She looked over at her who was slowly descending to the ground.

She had to say she was impressed that the human could hold on to that heavenly power for a long time and even walk around, acting like her body was fine.

Her muscles and cells would be screaming for some relief now.

Freya landed on the ground and staggered a little. Just when she thought, she would fall. A hand grasped her shoulder and pulled her into a warm embrace.

She smiled a little as she hit his chest, "Jinha, you are holding me too tightly."

Her remark made others chuckle.

"Ohh...Wow, you complain about a hug while you can smile freely when lightning runs through your body?!"

"Surely, it wouldn't hurt that much, right?" he asked sarcastically.

Freya sighed.

She knew her friends would be unhappy that she forbade them from helping out as she took this route to kill her enemies but she didn't have a choice.

It was either them or her people. And there was no question on what she had to do.

For a knight, the safety of her people comes above everything.
