Frustrated, he punched the wooden wall beside him. It appeared to him that the woman had already died. He was simply too late!

"Thank you." a voice suddenly creeped him up. He knew exactly who owned this voice. His surprised gazed was then met with the woman whom he thought was already dead!

"L-lady Ling?!"

"Yes?" The woman called Lady Ling replied with a warm smile. This, expectedly left him dumbfounded!

He was so sure that this woman's life had left her! Her pulse and breathing were gone too!

Just how?!

"Mo Dang right? Will you allow this miss to trouble you for a minute? There's something she must do and only you can help her." His face was still pale when she asked him for a favor.

Nonetheless, he immediately did what he was asked to do.

When he left, Lady Ling's smile still continued to linger on her small pale lips.

From roof to ground, everything inside the Heavenly Jade Palace was grandly decorated with expensive ornaments, gold furnitures and priceless antiques. To it, to be decorated ravis.h.i.+ngly was something not new.

For years, this place has been the venue for wedding and crowning ceremony within the imperial family. It had witnessed countless downfall and deaths of powerful significant rulers and their subjects too! It won't be a surprise if people would use it to testify historical events regarding weddings and crownings if it could only talk!

The sun was at its highest peek when people had started gathering within the Heavenly Jade Palace's premise. Each person was wearing unique embroidered colorful robe on its own, signifying their status and power within the empire. Women were full of make up, flaunting their fake beauty while men wore rigid faces as they entered, proceeding to their a.s.signed area.

Apparrently, only n.o.ble families and imperial officials were allowed to join the ceremony.

Not long after the palace was filled, the grand crowning ceremony had started. Everyone was antic.i.p.ating what would be this new empress could bring to the empire, especially after causing the removal of her older sister, Ling Yue. Certainly, their interest had been piqued when they heard this shocking news. She even dared to take her throne!

Despite the event going smoothly, an unusual turned of event took place halfway. Right before the verdict was to be read, the ceremony was halted due to Hou s.h.i.+huang's command. Confused, people had started murmuring softly, guessing what could there be the reason behind his questionable action. Without explanation, Hou s.h.i.+huang then left the dejected Ling Feiyan, with a piece of paper on his hand.

What might be the content? Only Hou s.h.i.+huang knows!

"Explain yourself Ling Yue! What is the meaning of this?!" he commanded.

Hou s.h.i.+huang just arrived at the place he does not wish to go. His face displayed intense coldness towards the woman whom he does not like.

"It is at it is, I do not have to explain further." Ling Yue courageously replied in a calm composure, without respect in return.

Forget manners, she does not even seem to be bothered by the fact that the one she was talking to was the most powerful man in the mainland, the emperor, Hou s.h.i.+huang!

It's been awhile since Hou s.h.i.+huang had seen Ling Yue. There were obvious changes that he adamantly noticed. Ling Yue looked so thin that might be carried away by forceless push of the wind. She became paler and weak too. Except, behind her frail appearance, remains the ever domineering yet gentle aura that had caused changes in the empire. Just that, this time, her eyes became impa.s.sive, in complete contrast to before, cheerful and happy Ling Yue.

"Do you really think I would believe your words? After what you've done to me?!" Hou s.h.i.+huang refuted. It's the first time they had talked after he had her removed from her throne.

Just when he had thought he had the upper hand on this matter, he was then proven wrong by this very woman.

"You can let a doctor to check me. Besides, I've never done anything wrong against you! It was you who easily believed the malicious words my sister was spouting! Yes, you saw it with your own eyes but do you really think I could do such thing against you? After what I've done for you? Had you not considered the possibility that someone was framing me up?!"

Ling Yue tried to persuade him. In the end, it seemed to her that Hou s.h.i.+huang's mind had been completely poisoned by that witch, Ling Feiyan!

"Nonsense! Nonsense!" he urged him to close her mouth, "Stop talking nonsense! Ling Feiyan had given me other evidences aside from that!"

"Evidences like my things you found on his pocket? That can be planted, you should know this above all!" Ling Yue's words shut him up.

"Go get the doctor! This child is yours! It's about three months old, exactly around the time when we consummated our marriage!"

Her words caused Hou s.h.i.+huang to be reminded of the paper he had received earlier. Only few words were written but enough to shake him and even halted the ceremony.

The doctor did not let them down and instantly confirmed her words. Hou s.h.i.+huang obviously was taken aback.

"Now let me out! How dare you locked me up here!" Ling Yue demanded. The guards had allowed her after Hou s.h.i.+huang ordered them.

The two stood up face to face. Hou s.h.i.+huang suddenly felt small compared to her, afraid of what might she plans to do next. Ling Yue's presence also was too much to take, making him imaginatively choke.

However, that was just the beginning!

"Just to let you know, I only let you out because you have my child! After you give birth and you still haven't proven your innocence, I'll have to execute you by my own hands!"

"I knew you would say that! Don't worry, after you had me locked up for a month, I have realized many things that it drove me to come this far."
