10 A Very Angry, Superhuman Loli.

Regalus's face changed from the usual rose-pink to pale, "M-Mother, I'm awfully tired from climbing and carrying weight and I haven't even eaten breakfast, how about I take a break first."

Aria Arendale, of course, knew that his pale complexion was faked, but she could only act tough in front of her son for only so long. In the end, she receded and allowed her son for half an hour to break.

Ira Ignus sneered disappointingly and grabbed a shortsword from the shelves before jumping away. Regalus became wide-eyed, seeing the height and length of her jump.

'Superhuman... A very angry, superhuman loli.'

"Son," a soothing voice said. Regalus unconsciously smiled at the sound. He saw her mother gently carrying a basket of sandwiches.

Aria Arendale's long black hair flew along with the wind, her cool blue eyes showed wisdom and experience and her smile showed affection. The epitome of what it meant to be a mother. As soon as Regalus saw her, he couldn't think of any other word to describe her.

She sat close to Regalus, took a sandwich and gave it to him before taking out one for herself. She bit it gracefully, exclaiming at the flavor that she herself made.

"Mmm~, I don't know how I lived before these sandwiches of yours," she said, patting Regalus's head.

The sandwiches were one of Regalus's 'inventions' he conveniently borrowed from his world and probably didn't exist anywhere else in this world. It has become one of the capital city's most iconic experiences and was profitable enough to become a national staple! Regalus had 'given' this 'solution' to his father when the public was growing discontent with the lack of more flavorful foods that only n.o.bles had access to. Cheap, yummy, and extremely customizable, sandwiches became as common as rice.

As they were eating, Regalus finally broke out the question that had been plaguing his mind.

"Mother, who is she? The maid I mean?"

"Her name is Ira Ignus, she's just a maid. She'll become your personal attendant when you go to school."

"M-My personal attendant? But, she's so cold and silent, bit clumsy too-," Regalus

Aria couldn't help but laugh.

"She is but a maid with some slight skills, give her some... 'slack,' is that how you say it? Ehehehe... Regardless, she could help you with some things. Treat her as you would your family, alright." Aria wanted her son to know that despite being far away, he knew that there was still someone he could rely on, but not completely depend.

Regalus sighed and nodded helplessly.

The half-hour pa.s.sed quickly. It was about time to spar, but Ira Ignus had yet to appear.

Aria Arendale looked a bit awkward at the missing maid and awkwardly smiled at Regalus, "Why don't you prepare a bit, I'll just... check on something."

Regalus rolled his eyes and knew something was up, after all, he 'invented' that phrase, "I'll just check on something."

----

Regalus sighed deeply and looked at the stacks of weapon. A breeze of nostalgia went through the mountains. Amongst the shelves, his eyes found two spears together, one long and the other short. All sorts of expression appeared in Regalus's face. His hands twitched to an all too familiar position and a burst of memories from a past long ago appeared in his mind. However, he quickly regained mind and quickly moved away, a sad thought rose in his mind.

'No matter the world, humanity remains the same. It was, after all, humanity that invented the word 'barbaric,' it's only fitting that they themselves fit into that word.'

In the end, he chose the most basic weapon, a simple wooden staff. The staff is the basis of all weapons as well as a mage's weapon of choice. Regalus isn't overestimating himself if he were to ever say he was one of the best staff users in his past world.

He picked up the staff and twirled it a bit, getting used to its heft and weight. It had small iron bands at its ends to add weight, the rest was made of greywood, a tree with extraordinary flexibility at the cost of hardness. It was perfect for staves but useless for anything else. It was light enough for his six-year-old body to use, especially after carrying weights up and down the mountains for the past few days.

He suddenly heard a rustle behind his back, he looked behind him immediately and saw his mother slightly exhausted and the red-headed maid, Ira Ignus, covered in twigs, leaves, and even fur.

"Ehehe, don't mind us. Go prepare some more, we'll start soon," Aria Arendale shouted soon.

----

Aria Arendale pulled Ira Ignus farther from her son and started whispering close to her.

"How in the two suns did you end up more than 30 miles away?!" Aria asked in bewilderment. She found this maid lost in the woods, battling a 15,000-year-old spirit beast with the shortsword. Battling maybe isn't the right word for it. When she found Ira Ignus, the 15,000 year old gargantuan orangutan was found bellow her heels whimpering, the poor thing.

Seeing Ira struggling to answer, Aria sighed.

"Go, play with him for a bit. Just remember, you're just a maid with some skill, don't go showing him something you shouldn't."

"Y-Yes my lady," Ira looked down before and bowed a bit before going to the shelves and picking a normal, wooden sword. Though her main weapon of preference was a saber, she was going easy on him and chose a weapon opposite to her specialty, the sword. She wasn't used to it, but neither was she unfamiliar. It would hinder her fighting prowess without outright negating it.

----

Regalus held the staff upright beside him. It was just shorter than him by a bit, a meter high, but he was amazed at the materials it was made out of. Despite being made out of the most common materials, it was light and easy for him to use even at the size, he was very satisfied with it.

He saw Ira Ignus, still messy as before, standing around 5 meters away from him holding a wooden sword. However, as silly looking as a maid covered with mud and leaves may be, he still possessed extraordinary instincts and experience and knows a good opponent when he sees one.

Regalus saw his mother, high up on one of the platforms. Though she looked particularly carefree, he knew her mother was closely watching.

"Low-profile, low-profile," Regalus mumbled, thinking that no one could hear him. Though Ira Ignus may not be able to unknown to him, his mother certainly could!

Though not known through the common populace, in their entire kingdom, she was undoubtedly the most powerful cultivator, second only to her husband. As a kingdom built on its military, this was an outstanding feat. Most civilians or on or above Peak Mortality Stage, a stage where mortals could reach without cultivation and are already viable soldiers in other kingdoms. It was one of the reasons no one messed with their Kingdom of Arendale. Hearing her son whisper half a mile away is nothing, much less just a few meters away.

----

Ira Ignus readied her shortsword. She got into a basic stance; held the sword with her right hand and held it up to her left, her legs were bent and ready to push forward. However, she felt unbalanced. This was a stance meant for holding a heavy saber to sweep the enemies in front, not a light sword meant for short, precise attacks.

She saw the prince, or Young Master as she was supposed to refer to him, in front of her, holding the spear upright on his right side. There was no stance, no preparations, no nothing, just him standing. She knew that being the crown prince of the Arendale family, he shouldn't have been engaged in any fights, training, or the sort, so she wasn't too expectant. However, he has lived in a military household and has seen plenty of soldiers train so he should at least have an idea what to look like, but he's just standing there.

'Thinking too much, at this point, he's no better than a kid from a mortal family.'

Being trained at an age like her, it's only routine for her to expect more instead of less regardless of the opponent. But knowing Regalus's daily lifestyle since being born, she put away most of her caution and stepped forward immediately, swinging her sword in the process. It was easy to dodge and she didn't put much weight into it so it was fine to be hit by it, much less block it so she thought that the Young Master would be fine by it.

As she was about to reach the attacking range of her sword, the Young Master suddenly moved. His right leg suddenly moved backward and also pushed the bottom of the staff back. The top of the staff moved down as it immediately became horizontal.

The Young Master immediately moved forward, thrusting his staff forward. The sword was shorter than the staff! Ira was forced to back off her advance, barely blocking the staff before it hit her body.

Aria Arendale looking down from the platforms became wide-eyed. Regalus actually managed to thwart the combat genius from her school in such a way!

As for Ira Ignus, she became livid!
