88 I Am Proposing

"Ahh, nothing, we were talking about some hottest gossip about our fave celebrity." One of the maid servants answered.

"You are not paid just to gossip here..." Gordon scrutinized them before he left. The three maid servants heaved a sigh of relief.

Gordon directly went to the study room and informed his master that Mr. Briggs will arrive any moment.

But his master was talking to someone over the phone. John motioned to his secretary to wait.

"I really have no idea what brought him here, I bet he'll be here any minute now... yeah, yeah.. I'll inform you what we have talked about. Bye!" he s.h.i.+fted his gaze to Gordon.

"Mr. Briggs will arrive within five minutes, sir,"

"Call your Mistress now." Immediately he looked for his mistress.

The Howards were already outside waiting for Clint Briggs to arrive. Both of them were caught in a deep thought. They both knew that Clint Briggs won't specifically be here personally without an urgent important matter to discuss. They could only guess.

The Mercedes Benz came into view and stopped before them. Clint emerged from the car with smile plastered on his lips.

"John, my friend, it's so great to see you again..." they shared a firm hand shake. John Howard slightly laughed.

"It's so great seeing you, too, again, my friend. Come, let's go inside." Rose was just silent knowing that the two best friends were just sharing some pleasantries before they dig in the details later.

"Where's Helen? I thought you brought her with you?" John asked.

"She couldn't, she's busy over something... it's nice seeing you again, Rose." He smiled.

"I am glad you arrived safely, Clint."

"Let's eat first, before we talk it over, shall we?" John suggested.

"That would be great, I am famished." John Howard s.h.i.+fted his attention to his wife.

"Rose, tell the butler to serve the food now..." she went ahead of them and instructed the butler.

After the dinner, they went to John Howard's study room.

"Rose, you can leave us here. Clint and I need to have to talk private and serious talk, I believe." Rose respected her husband's request and bid good night to the two gentlemen.

"I understand. Be good, darling and I hope you both will find something to agree upon on whatever discussion you might have. Good night, darling. Good night, Clint."

Clint Briggs laughed. "Thank you, Rose.."

They waited for the woman to close the door before they stared to each other, discreetly sensing each other's frame of mind.

"So, what brought you here, Clint?" Ingrid's father started to appear serious.

"I would no longer beat around the bush; I think you already have a glimpse of idea why I am here. It's between my son and your daughter."

"What about them?"

"I am proposing that they should get married as soon as possible." Clint said it with full of confidence and as-matter-of-factly.

....

It was already dinner time when Ingrid woke; she jolted from bed after she looked at the time.

"Just great! Why did I oversleep? Geezzz.."

She tried to sense the surroundings and she could not hear any commotion outside. The silence is deafening. She then looked at her child who is still sleeping.

"Clark, wake up my sweet." She tickled him so that he will awaken.

Slowly he moved his eyes and giggled when he felt his mother tickling him.

"Rise up from bed, my sweet baby, we should eat dinner okay? And then let's have some fun on the beach, what do you think?"

Clark quickly rose up and climbed down from bed when he heard his mother's plan.

"Hooray!! But mommy, I am no longer a baby, I am big boy now. Look I am going to choose my clothes and I know how to put it on, too." he then went to the walk in closet of look for his clothes. Ingrid chuckled as she watches her son.

She let her son put on his clothes and after several minutes, he emerged from the walk in closet

"Look, mom!" she hugged her tightly.

"You are still and forever be my baby, my sweet Clark." The child hugged her back.

"I love you, mom!"
