82 Call Me Daddy

"Can you help me with this, uncle Cliff?" he nodded and took off the child's clothes and put on his swim wear. "...how about you, will you not also something like this?" the child pointed to his trunks.

Clifford chuckled. "... I better not wore those. But I'll change anyway. Just wait at the living room."

"Oh okay. Please hurry." Clifford could only shake his head.

The moment they emerged from the elevator, all eyes were on them especially that Clifford wore a laid back outfit which makes him appear comely and oozing with appeal alongside with Clark who just look as adorable as him. Clifford just ignored all their stares and just enjoying this short but thrilling weekend.

People were scattered along the seash.o.r.e and some children with their parents playing in the sand.

"Come on, let's make a sand castle." The child shriek with excitement. Clifford was so amused with the child's excitement which reminds him of his childhood with his mom. He loves beaches, too and this activity reminds him of his joyous childhood.

They both run towards the seash.o.r.e and the child was more thrilled than ever. And they started digging and making sand castle, Clark was so serious with digging the sand and keeps on clapping the moment the sand castle shaped.

Clark on the other hand heard some children calling their dad and saw some children pointing at their direction. The child looked at Clifford with amazement and blinked his eyes, thinking.

"Uncle Cliff..." the child called.

"Yes, son?" he answered without looking as his gaze was glued to what he is doing.

The child blinked at him again and again and his response gave the child more courage to speak what's on his mind.

"Can we play a game?"

"Yes, later, after we finish this..."

"But we can do both." The child said with seriousness, Clifford then stopped and s.h.i.+fted his eyes to the child.

"Okay, what game is it." The child looked left and right and saw that some children were approaching them.

"I, uh, uhmm, can we pretend that I'm your son and you're my dad while we're here?" the child talked fast that makes his eyes widen by surprise of this wild game he is devising.

"Why? Where did you get that idea, Clark?"

"No one, I just thought about it." He looked down out of embarra.s.sment and slowly the pressure keeps on building in his small chest.

Clifford looked on his right and left side and noticed that most people were staring at them at the same time some children were moving towards their direction. He now understood why the child decided to think about it. He sighed deeply and answered.

"Okay... you can call me daddy, for a show but your mom gonna be angry at me if she found out this little game of yours, Clark." The child grinned, the same grin he makes everytime he triumphs over his mom.

"Thank you, daddy!!" the child jumped up and down. "...now we can continue building this."

In the spur of the moment bunch of kids were already surrounding them and were gasping at the sight of the sand castle they were forming.

"Daddy, let's also make some sand castle..." a child in Clark's age requested to his father who is coming close to them.

Clifford looked at the child and his father.

"I don't know how to do it, son." The man answered helplessly.

"But why can his daddy make it? All daddies know how to do it, right?" the man looked at Clifford and laughed.

"You can play with us..." Clark invited the child and without hesitation he went over and played with them.

"I am so sorry for interrupting your bonding with your son. Arthur Wright, by the way."

"Clifford Briggs." They shook hands.

"The Clifford Briggs? What an honor to meet you. You've been a sensation lately."
