"But I'm so ugly now, love. Will you still love me even I'm still in this condition?" uncertainty flickered in her eyes. The fear of being rejected lingered slightly there. The insecurities creeps in her that sometimes the security her husband is giving her is not enough.

"Of course! Why wouldn't I? I married you not just because of your outward appearance, Ingrid, but as the whole you, with no partiality and no condition. Have you forgotten our marriage vows?"

Ingrid fell silent as she recalled the very words of her husband as it rings loudly in her head. She felt relieved of her husband's a.s.surance that no matter how she looks, she'll still be loved and accepted.

She faintly smiled and said, "…Thank you, love. Now I know why G.o.d has given me a man like you…"

"But of course, Love!" he chuckled. "…but I am more fortunate to have you as my wife. You came at a perfect time, wife. You cleverly invaded my life like it's the natural thing in the world."

The couple appeared like to be so engrossed in their love to each other that their present dilemma seems nothing to them, instead, it brought them closer to each other. But Ingrid has also other thing in mind.

"Cliff, do you think that accident is merely a mishap? I mean, look, before the DNA test result came, the experts almost got killed. Ingrid has this strong intuition that it isn't merely a car accident. Someone must be behind all this but she has no solid proof about her gut feeling.

"Hmmm… you've gotta point. But let's just wait for the police report first..."

Nevertheless, Clifford and his father had already talked about that possibility and Clint had already informed him that he already hired Vladimir to have a thorough investigation over the matter. He decided to conceal their plan to his wife so that she won't worry too much that could affect her fast recovery. He needed to make sure about every detail before he acts on it.

Clifford further stated. "Let the property authorities handle it. All you have to do is to focus on your fast recovery, okay?"

Ingrid nodded in agreement. "I guess you're right."

Then they heard a commotion and footsteps coming their way. They could not easily know who arrived since there is a division between the living room and their bedroom.

So they just waited for them to come in and only to find out that it's their parents along with some policemen, Lance and Vanessa, again. One of policemen carried an attaché case.

While Rose and Helen are surprise to see Clifford standing beside Ingrid's bed.

"Son, why are you standing there? Did something happen to Ingrid?" Rose voice rings of full concern.

"Ahh no, mother-in-law, we're just talking and I wanted to recline her bed, but I still can't, so I just went near her…" Clifford winked at his wife. Without delay, Rose a.s.sisted her son-in-law to go back to his bed while Helen reclined Ingrid's bed.

"Ugh! Newlyweds! They can't be separated…" Helen jokingly grumbled which made them all laugh.

"Can you just call me mother, Clifford? Mother-in-law would be lengthy to say." She said smiling.

"As you wish, mother…" he willingly obeyed.

John Howard cleared his throat to get their attention before he speaks.

"By the way, the policemen are here to read to official police report regarding the incident. Mr. officer?" he looked at the man beside him who is holding the attaché case. He opened it and took some doc.u.ments.

"Thank you, sir. We've checked and rechecked the CCTVs in that area, as well as asked the eyewitnesses during that time. Unfortunately, we can't get some information from the driver because he's still in coma except that he was drunk. In addition, we could not also trace his background since he has no driver's license and we're still in the process of getting his ident.i.ty through his fingerprint. So we just checked his car to know the cause of the collision and we found out that it lost its brake. Inopportunely, the car has no plate number so we're back on square one. But what puzzled us was that, when we watch the CCTV, his car was already parked nearby for almost an hour and he never got out and only drove again when your car was near and he sped up the moment you stopped in the intersection."

All of them were shocked with the report.

"Do you mean, that the accident is intentional?" John is perplexed.

"We could not prove it yet, sir, but we're considering two angles in this accident, like in the business aspect and in your personal lives. We know that both of the Howard and Briggs are from the elite families and have multiple businesses and it is a basic question to ask if you have offended any business rivals within your family and outside or you have fired employees who puts enmity against you and your family. Or even a love triangle to either of the newlywed couple?"
