184 Entering Mafia's Shopping Mall

As they got back on the outskirts of the forest, they also dragged a train of monsters along with them.

As if the monsters had a brain, they stopped chasing Misha and returned into the inner forest.

Misha panted and sighed in relief. Her ST bar, the stamina, reduced from 73 to 20 after the escape. It was slowly recovering as Misha caught her breath.

"That was close."

*Mew!* (We went to a high-level zone after all. It's a miracle that we came back in one piece.)

"Now that I think back, I should have used the jetpack."

*Mrrr?* (And risk that?)

Tama pointed one of her tentacles into the sky. At the direction that Tama was looking, a pack of 20 giant vultures was flying above the forest. Their power indicator showed 2500, which was the same as the bears.

"… Maybe the ground route is a better idea."

*Mew* (IKR)

.

.

As Misha walked out of the dark forest, many players with various weapons in hands were exploring the outer area, killing weak zombies.

When they saw the b.l.o.o.d.y Misha, they thought it was another zombie. Since Tama's tentacle was dangling out of her chest and stomach, looking like a parasite zombie, one of the players pointed his gun at Misha's head.

Sensing the killing intent and seeing the gun muzzle, Misha ducked.

*BANG*

*MYA!!* (MOTHERf.u.c.kER! WHO ARE YOU SHOOTING AT!? ARE YOU BLIND!?)

Tama's screamed confirmed the player's theory that Misha was not a human. He checked her power indicator above Misha's head to measure if he could fight this monster.

Upon seeing the level leader icon and power level icon on her head, he exclaimed, "A ranker!? Wait, you're not a monster!?"

Misha frowned as she yelled, "d.a.m.n right, I'm not a monster!? Are you blind!?"

"But, you have those worms in your chest …"

"That is my friend, you idiot! I'm a f.u.c.king dragonewt!"

"…"

Misha cussed at the newbie player before she walked away in a bad mood.

Meanwhile, the newbie looked at the departing Misha with a gobsmacked expression.

"That's … the extinct race?"

The newbie was not the only one who treated Misha as a zombie. Fortunately, the majority of players did not have a gun as their first weapon, so Misha gave them a good slap and called it off.

When she reached the town's gate, two NPC guards blocked the entrance.

"No entry!"

Misha frowned, "I'm a citizen of this city."

The guards clicked their tongue and pointed at the direction of the slum, "This entrance is for humans and felionians only! For your kind, get back to that area. We don't welcome you!"

"What!?"

"Don't make me repeat my word, or I'll arrest you!"

"…"

Misha glanced at their power scale. They were 10,000, stronger than the boss in the forest.

Since it was too risky to fight their way through, Misha conceded and took a detour toward the slum entrance.

.

By the time that Misha reached the slum, her HP had fully recovered, and all wounds, caused by Tama, had disappeared. However, the bloodstain was still on her clothes.

She looked at her messy state with a sigh.

'I need to get new clothes. This thing starts to smell.'

As she got inside the slum area, many eyes were staring at her, observing her from head to toes. Yet, n.o.body made a silly move on her since she had the bloodstain on her front clothes.

The slum population had a common understanding. Someone with a bloodstain on the front was usually a killer, a murderer, a torturer, or someone who excelled in close combat. Since these professions often got stained in blood, their clothes always got dirty.

Misha was suspicious of being one of a kind, so n.o.body dared to move against her. On the contrary, gangsters showed respect as they made way for her.

Soon, a daredevil NPC inside the slum approached Misha.

It was a middle-aged human in a black suit, which did not match with the moldy slum of homeless mutants.

He wore a tall hat, white gloves, and a bow tie, which represented a n.o.ble. Yet, no one in the slum dared to look at his face.

The face of this man had a scar, a knife cut from his right forehead down onto his right cheek, which was intimidating.

"My lady, I haven't seen you around here before. Are you working for someone in the town?"

Misha looked at the man and his power indicator. Upon seeing the number of 12,000, she gulped.

'A big shot!'

Misha kept her manner. As the old saying, when in Rome, do as Romans do. Misha used her two masters as a cover.

"I worked for Walter and Arthur. Excuse me, but who am I talking to?"

The scarface gentleman laughed, "Those two? Well, that's unexpected. Oh, excuse my manners. My name is Silkroad. I work as a middle-man in this sanctuary. Well, I have an auction house, and I'm responsible for the … the hidden market here," he smiled and winked at Misha.

"So, I can unload my wares through you?"

Misha's brain worked at a tremendous speed as she recognized that he might be someone she could potentially work with. Since this man had enough power and wealth to swagger in the slum unhindered, Misha wanted to probe him if she could use him.

Silkroad clapped and laughed, "You catch on quickly! I like talking to smart people. Hahaha!" He patted Misha's shoulder, "What do you have, and how much do you have? Since you're with Walter, you should at least have some goodies, no?"

"Five kilos. How much will I get?"

Silkroad smiled, "Come with me. I'll show you how to do business. You're still too green in this, and I'm afraid that you'll get into trouble with your experience."

"???"

"I see that you're confused. Well, normally, you don't carry around that much in public since the police's doggies can catch you. And also, you don't reveal what you have to strangers, even if he is much stronger than you."

Silkroad snickered as he led Misha to the center of the slum district. There, a five-story theatre building, which was out of place in the slum, was before Misha.

Surprisingly, many humans from the town gathered inside the theatre, attending a daily auction. Several guys carried guns and weapons around, while several rich old men took along their beautiful wife and their entourage of bodyguards.

This was the gathering center of the underworld society on this island.

"Wow."

"Do you like my building?"

"It's amazing."

"Well, I'm glad that you like it. Come inside. I'll show you something."

Like a puppy, Misha followed Silkroad around.

When everyone saw Silkroad, they either saluted or greeted him with respect as if he was the king. Afterward, they glanced at Misha with curiosity, wondering who this b.l.o.o.d.y lady was.

Silkroad led Misha to a counter, which had a demi-hydra lady sitting behind it.

"Greetings, G.o.dfather. Can I help you?" The demi-hydra greeted her boss.

Silkroad snickered, "I took a stroll, and I found a lost puppy. Well, that puppy is actually a daughter of two dire wolves, though. Ahaha!"

"Err …"

"To sum it short, she works for Walter Black and Arthur Flex. Treat her well."

"Y-Yes, G.o.dfather!"

The clerk broke a sweat and glanced at Misha while she was trying to hide her s.h.i.+ver.

Silkroad turned to Misha, patted her head before he walked away, "Well, in the future, come here to see this lady behind this counter. Don't go around and sell your wares on your own if you don't want to get arrested. I can't protect you if you go off on your own."

Misha was impressed with this mafia boss' att.i.tude. He seemed like a kind man.

"Thank you, G.o.dfather."

"Ahaha! Well, good luck," Silkroad left.

The clerk lady had a stiff smile on her face as she looked at Misha, "C-Can you fill in this form, please. Also, if you have any completed drugs, such as methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, or anything similar, you can bring it here to sell it to us. We'll buy it off you for 80% market price."

The clerk explained how they did business here.

Silkroad had established a middle-man business by buying products from manufacturers and selling them to retailers. He also hired many crafters to produce their house brand goods.

His expertise covered many fields, including weaponry, drugs, tax-evading products, and handyman services. Because of his wide range of services, he had many business partners, which widened his influence.

Misha could see a few policemen swaggering in the lounge area, smoking cigars. It seemed that the law enforcers on the island had already been bought.

'What the h.e.l.l is this game? What dafuq am I playing!?'

Misha wanted to cry, but she had no tears.

The clerk continued to teach Misha about the currency while she was filling the form.

The main currency in this world was called "Dust," which was a different currency than the soul points, which Misha had obtained from the black slime.

The dust was an energy marble, which could be used to buy skills and goodies from the G.o.ddess Lilim at the town square. To earn the dust, they had to bring the monster corpses to the Parthenon of their race to convert them into money marbles.

However, here, they could easily acquire dust with alternative ways.

"You have brought 5kg of meth. The current market price is 100 dust per one gram, so the total price is 500,000. We'll pay you 400,000 dust for your good."

Misha gulped and nodded, "Okay."

The clerk took a bag with 400 gold marbles in it. Each represented 1,000 dust.

Misha inspected it and found that there were indeed some energies in the marble.

"Do you want to count?" Asked the clerk.

"N-No. I trust you," Misha took the bag into her VIP inventory. However, a new inventory appeared.

Misha guessed that it was a mechanism that prevented the players from taking items to the real world. However, they could always bring real-world objects here with VIP inventory.

In her alternate inventory, there was a number "400,000" and a pile of golden dust icon behind it. They were the indicator of her currency.

'So much convenience.'

The clerk pa.s.sed Misha a black card, an emblem, and a handbook.

"This is our business partner card. Please put the emblem on your clothes when you come back again, so the guards won't bar you from entering here. The handbook is the guide of our other businesses and our goods if you wish to buy anything from us."

Misha took everything and glanced at her clothes.

"Do you sell clothes?"

The clerk giggled and pointed to the second floor, "There are shopping malls on the second, third, and fourth floor. Please put the emblem on before you visit them."
