179 Tutorial In The Mind Space

"Are they using my soul s.p.a.ce to hold a tutorial stage?"

Misha became cautious about the new game. The background setting and game theme were too suspicious again.

[Welcome to the tutorial. I'm G.o.ddess Lilim. I shall guide you on how you can survive in this world.]

"Okay?"

[First, pick a weapon of your choice. Then, attack a dummy on … the middle of the pool island.]

Even the AI of the game stuttered when it recognized the unusualness of Misha's soul s.p.a.ce.

Meanwhile, Misha was relieved that she hid her soul core inside one of the bungalows as a precaution against overminds and fairy overlords. Since the game did not summon a black slime or create a statue in her mind s.p.a.ce, Misha had nothing to worry about.

Misha picked a handgun, which had appeared out of nowhere, and aimed at the dummy from the other side. She pulled the trigger.

*BANG*

A bullseye.

[Very good. Now, let's try a live target.]

A green zombie appeared in Misha's mind s.p.a.ce.

'G.o.ddammit. Stop summoning anything into my soul s.p.a.ce! It's dangerous!'

Had a monster destroyed her soul core, Misha did not know what would have happened to her, even though Lilith had advertised that they would not be harmed in real life.

Without waiting for instruction, Misha put a bullet into the zombie's skull.

*BANG*

Misha frowned. She had a feeling that the level up system was also different.

Had it been an old version, she did not get a bonus attribute after her level had increased. However, this version increased her status automatically.

The G.o.ddess's voice continued.

[Let me explain your level and EXP system.]

.

>

By killing a monster, NPC, or player, you can acquire a set amount of EXP. The amount of EXP you can get depends on the difference between your overall status attributes.

For example, the green zombie that you have killed has a total sum of 350 points in attributes, while your combined points of STR, VIT, STM, DEX, AGI, INT, WIS, and unused free attributes were 350 points. With no point difference, the player shall get a fixed amount of 100 EXP per kill, not including the bonus from VIP privilege.

If your target has 1,000 total status points while you have 350, for additional point difference, you will obtain 10 bonus EXP for each point difference, plus 100 default EXP. Thus, you will gain a staggering total of 6,600 EXP!

EXP Formula: Target has higher stats than the player

EXP = 10 x (Target Stats – Player Stats) + 100

However, if your total sum of attributes were 400 while your killed target was 350, you would have only gotten 50 EXP from the point difference. However, should the point difference is 100 or higher, you will get only 1 EXP.

EXP Formula: Player has higher stats than the target

EXP = 100 – (Player Stats – Target Stats)

If the result is equal to or lower than 0, EXP = 1.

Misha was absorbed into the details. Now that the game paid more attention to their status attributes, she knew where she should concentrate on improving or grinding.

[Monsters have power indicator above their head. Now, I have sp.a.w.ned another green zombie. Try to observe the number carefully]

A green zombie appeared again. This time, it had an indicator of > above its head.

[Now, kill it.]

Misha aimed and pulled the trigger.

*BANG*

The zombie staggered backward after the bullet went through its skull. However, it did not die.

Above its head, an HP bar appeared. Its red bar decreased by 80%.

"Huh? I destroyed his brain."

*BANG*

Misha fired at the zombie again. This time, it fell.

With just a few status differences, the result was apparent. By killing a stronger foe, she could earn more EXP than killing the weaker ones.

However, the zombie was abnormally stronger than usual, as well.

[Foes with a higher status than the player always get a buff to their status attributes before the damage calculation. The last zombie did not die immediately after the first shot because of this system. For every point difference, the monsters get a fixed bonus percentage to their status.]

[For example, a monster with 100 total attributes higher than you will always get a 100% boost to their stats! 200 points would be 200% and so on! Be careful when you fight a stronger foe!]

Listened to the game tutorial, Misha had a chill running down her spine. She imagined herself fighting against Maou's monster ants, which had over 10,000 points in status points.

Those 2,000 to 3,000 VIT gave them a strong defense and vitality that could withstand rifle sh.e.l.ls and explosion. Combined with the game buff, Misha was not confident than she could kill one of them without a nuclear warhead.

'Are they buffing the monsters while they are nerfing the players? How am I going to find Mia in the hardcore server if the casual server's players are this weak!?'

The tutorial continued, [Now, move on to the racial traits. You might have noticed that you have gained status points after you have leveled up. This is a feature of the game. Please check your "New" racial perks. Of course, it won't be as realistic as your "Real" power in real life.]

In the past, inferno dragonewts were once considered the top of the food chain. Time changes, as well as the glory days of this race. Dragonewts have become weaker due to the curse of the Demon King and his wives.

Still, all power that inferno dragonewts had once possessed can be awakened as you progress in-game. Search for your potential as you fight to save the world from monsters and the Demon King Mia.

Many details changed. It changed so much that Misha gritted her teeth in anger since her character was nerfed. It went from the G.o.dly tier race down to a weakling goblin.

Eating gels would not influence status caps anymore. Moreover, status caps seemed to disappear entirely from her status menu.

The exploitation of red gels, which used to bless her with 7-day satiety, was gone and replaced with a nerfed version. The fire skill spamming without a usage cost was also gone.

'It's becoming more like a casual game now. All those absurd OP perks are gone.'

Misha stayed positive. Since the entire thing leaned toward a proper game, she could relax a bit. Still, she did not understand why the game used her mind s.p.a.ce as a tutorial ground.

The suspicion came back, and Misha put more caution on her actions.

The tutorial continued.

[Moving on. Now, let's talk about your imagination power.]

"…"

Misha got serious. When it came to the imagination and the mind s.p.a.ce, it related to their soul attack.

[This tutorial room is not just an ordinary system room, but your inner soul. Inside this room, your soul core is usually in the center of this room. In your case, you seem to understand the basics of what I'm trying to teach you.]

The game G.o.ddess summoned another creature inside Misha's soul room.

When the creature entered the room, Misha's face distorted in anger.

It was a black slime!

Also, it had a red > as a status indicator, telling Misha that it was a strong monster.

[This is a special monster that only appears in a soul s.p.a.ce. Ordinary weapons cannot kill it. However, it posts the greatest threat upon your soul core as this type of creature treats a soul core and your soul as food.]

*SCREECH!*

As the G.o.ddess was explaining, the slime detected Misha.

[To kill this creature, you must focus your imagination and-]

Before the game G.o.ddess finished her explanation, Misha pointed her finger at the slime and imagined her former skill.

All of her past experiences came together in the form of her best soul attack.

Blast!

*BOOM*

The invisible cannon hit black slime, shattered it, and disintegrated the monster into small soul fragments.

"Oh? I gained levels killing that?"

[…]

The AI.exe had stopped working for a minute.

[… Next, I'll teach you about the soul-devouring technique. Every time you kill a black slime, soul fragments always appears, you can-]

Again, before the game had finished telling Misha to do anything, she gathered all soul fragments into one pile and scanned through them, searching for any suspicious object or a hidden soul among the sparkling dust.

Fortunately, there was not any.

Since Misha did not find any hidden conscience inside the soul fragments, she ate all of it to reinforce her soul's strength.

"Huh? No memory fragment or strength boost?"
