78 ''Simple, Right?''

"Of course," Arima's voice calmed them down "I'm not telling you this because I want you to use it. I will teach you this technique for only one purpose. To survive. If one day, you have no choice but to bet your life, maybe this technique will help you"

"The Berserk's Path is not really a technique that kills the user. But it has a good chance of crippling you. Of course, depending on the severity of the injuries, or the intensity of your madness, you may be able to resist all the side effects of the magic" Arima smiled and explained.

"At a later date, I'll teach you the details of this technique, but I forbid you to try to understand it alone. Unless you want to go mad and be killed as a result" He declared and his students nodded. Their choice was instantly made. They didn't want to die by doing something so stupid.

"Good. That's all for the Mind magic" Arima said "The next one in the list would be s.p.a.ce. Before I tell you what you can do with s.p.a.ce magic, I need to explain to you what is s.p.a.ce" He declared.

"Well, 'explaining what is s.p.a.ce', it's kind of a big way to say it. I don't know exactly what is s.p.a.ce. I'll just talk about the theory which works better for me" He added.

"People tend to see s.p.a.ce in a too small way. What I mean by this is that they think of s.p.a.ce as a force that interacts with our world. That's a wrong way to see it. It's more exact to say that s.p.a.ce represents the world itself"

"For example, humans are not surrounded by s.p.a.ce, they are part of it" Arima said "When you use s.p.a.ce magic, you order s.p.a.ce to deform and create destruction and injuries"

Arima waved his hand and the outline of a human body appeared in the air. Just after, that figure became filled with dark blue circles.

"Take these circles as s.p.a.ce within us. If I use magic to interact with it, this would happen" The blue circles gathered together. They glowed and suddenly moved at high speed from one place to another, leaving blue lines on the figure.

Arima snapped his fingers and the blue spheres disappeared. Then, the figure started to slowly crumble into numerous pieces, perfectly cut. The students raised their voices at the phenomenon.

"There's also this case" Arima said and the projection changed. This time it was a figure surrounded by the same blue circles "These circles are the s.p.a.ce contained in the air" Arima said and one more time, a part of those blue spheres started gathering and formed a sort of blade that cut apart the figure.

"It's needed to say that s.p.a.ce can destroy and consume everything as long as it's controlled. Even air if it's needed. With s.p.a.ce, you can also create a similar effect as a black hole by creating a sort of shredder and pulling people in" Arima declared and demonstrated it on the projection.

"Well, in the end, what I just talked about is basically how to use s.p.a.ce magic as a weapon. Let's continue with something else. Transfer, or teleportation"

"Let's begin with what we call a wormhole. The concept is pretty simple on the surface. It consists in connecting two different places with s.p.a.ce magic to create a sort of tunnel. In that tunnel, s.p.a.ce is distorted and the actual distance between the entrance and the exit is something like a billionth of the real distance"

"Of course, I just said a random number. It's just to explain to you that when you connect two points, far from each other, then connect them with s.p.a.ce magic, distort the same s.p.a.ce, then, you can reduce the distance you would have to travel to only a meter or so" Arima explained and the projection changed.

Actually, two different projections appeared, one was a tunnel that looked like it was compressed in its middle* and the other had the same thing, just that the tunnel was connecting two points which were on a same surface which looked like a folded piece of paper*.

"The first one is what I just explained to you, the second one is another representation of a wormhole. Let me give you a little 'experiment". Take a sheet and draw two dots on it, far from each other, then draw a line connecting them. Each dot represents a specific place while the paper itself represents our plane of existence. And the line between the two dots is the distance you would have to travel if you decided to go from one point to the other"

"Now, what I want you to do is to fold that piece of paper in two" Arima instructed and the students did as they were told. They followed Arima's 'experiment' as he was saying it.

"When you folded the paper, take a pen or something of the sort, and pierce the folded paper with it, so that it pa.s.ses through each dot you drew earlier" Arima said and everyone finished the 'experiment'.

"There you go" Arima declared and the students looked confused at the paper pierced by the pen. Only some of them reacted, particularly Balan, the elf who had mastered s.p.a.ce and Life magic.

"Some of you already understood. But let me recapitulate, the paper is our plane of existence, the dots are two different places, the line between is what you want to travel. And finally, if you compare it to my projection, the pen represents the wormhole" Arima explained and everyone finally understood what they had in hand.

"That hypothesis is basically saying that when you distort the plane of existence with s.p.a.ce, you make two specific points superimpose, then connect them with a short tunnel" Arima said and shrugged. The students felt like they were enlightened though.

"Well, it's always better to know different theories but the one I will develop more is the other one, simpler, it's just the tunnel itself" Arima declared "For convenience, let's call those small spheres s.p.a.ce particles. Right now, I ask you to imagine a tunnel made of those s.p.a.ce particles" Arima said and a tunnel appeared on his projection.

It was a perfectly straight tunnel without any variation "Now, we just need to create a wormhole from this. You have to imagine all the s.p.a.ce particles gathering in the middle of the tunnel"

Arima said and the projection started to change slowly. At the middle of the tunnel, it started to shrink "The reason why it's shrinking is simple. It's because the particles with which the tunnel is made are getting close to each other, trying to gather a single point. Then the rest of the tunnel follows, it starts to shrink everywhere and the rest is stretched. But in the end, the original structure is saved and we end up with this"

Arima waved his hand and zoomed on the projection. The tunnel had turned into a wormhole "Due to the 'compression' and the 'stretching'. The tunnel now connects two places with a smaller path. You can say that the efficiency of a wormhole depends on how much you stretch it"

The students were already listening agape, overwhelmed by the theory "Of course, the thing you must be thinking about now is what happens to a human when he pa.s.ses through this. Well, look at this" Arima pointed at the projection. At the same time, the room was plunged into darkness.

At one of the entrances of the wormhole, the figure a human appeared, it has some blue spheres in its body. The figure started walking and took the first step into the wormhole, then, although it was faint, the blue spheres moved a bit. After that, with each step, the s.p.a.ce particles in the figure started to slowly get closer to each other, around the figure's chest. At the same time, that same silhouette started to shrink along with the wormhole.

The students exclaimed in surprise when they saw that. They finally understood, to be short, the 'shrinking' of the wormhole affected the s.p.a.ce particles entering in it. Arima said earlier that we should consider that humans are part of s.p.a.ce. Then of course, along with the s.p.a.ce particles, the body should also shrink.

As they were thinking about this, the figure reappeared at the exit of the wormhole, he traveled in the shrunk part very quickly.

Arima snapped his fingers, the projection disappeared and light returned in the room "Wormholes can be very useful, if you have enough time, you can even directly send back the opponent's magic" He said "That's also how I teleported at first. People who work on s.p.a.ce magic should have used this at least once" He looked at Balan and the latter nodded "Of course, the magic can be cast even if you can't understand the theory behind it, but the magic in itself won't work well" He added.

"Next, what I will talk about is true teleportation" Arima said "Not a connection between two places. Don't worry it's not that complicated, as long as you have Magic of course" Arima said the last part with a wry smile.

He created another representation of a human shape, filled with s.p.a.ce particles "The teleportation I'm talking about is something we can call biological separation. In other words, you separate your physical body into several parts, that you move it while it is in an ethereal state, and rebuild it somewhere else" Arima explained.

"As to how it works, I think an image is better to describe it" He said and pointed at the projection. The latter started changing, the s.p.a.ce particles suddenly froze in place and then started to vibrate very strongly. The human figure started to slowly transform into a blue light. After that, each s.p.a.ce particle separated from each other, carrying a part of that blue light. Then, they flew away and rejoined at another place to recreate the same figure.

"Simple, right?" Arima said "That's the original way of teleporting someone or something, and it's also the fastest. Yes, because even teleportation is not actually instantaneous. It's just that s.p.a.ce particles travel even faster than light. It's most likely impossible for anything in this world to be instantaneous" Arima said.

"That's all for the teleportation. But there's still a huge subject we have to talk about. And it's s.p.a.ce storages. Well, it's a really different concept, but it shares similarities. As an example, when you want to expand the size of a room, exceeding its original one, it's the opposite of the wormhole, you have to make the s.p.a.ce particles recede from each other" Arima said

"Then to create bags or containers that can contain a lot of things, it's the same thing. Or you can also shrink the objects before you store them" Arima explained.

"Of course, that's not the main type of storage. The one I want to talk about is this one" Arima said and extended his hand, a shadow recovered it and a ba.n.a.l sword appeared out of it. Arima held it in his hand and showed it to his students "That's what I call a self-produced storage. 'Self-produced' because it's the caster that gives a storage with magic"

"Storages are often combined with elemental magic. Because if you only have s.p.a.ce magic, you have nowhere to send the objects. You need a 'place' to store it. So, you use elemental magic, to be more exact, you use the magic theory of an element to create a separate dimension where you store things. I personally use darkness magic because the theory is perfect for this kind of use. Usually, the size of the storage depends on the size of the mana pool" Arima explained.

"Well, there are actually other ways to create a separate storage" Arima smiled in a strange way "And I'm sure some people died because of it" He declared.

"Huh?" The students exclaimed.
