49 Chapter 44: Broken Engagemen

I stared blankly at the front page of the newspaper. The handsome ice cold face of Cain Fay could be seen together with a charming, beautiful, elegant young lady.

I felt my eyes reading the article, but my brain seemed to lag, focusing on the words 'broken engagement' and couldn't process anything else.

I subconsciously touched my lips. I still hadn't recovered from that unexpected kiss.

Many emotions swirled up inside me, but above the rest was anger.

What does he want to imply?!! It still doesn't change the fact that he confessed while he was still engaged! Five years?! Five years! And he threw it all away like it's nothing when he finds someone new?!

It was seven in the morning and the meeting for Azuela Cove would be at ten later.

I quickly crumpled the news and threw it into the trash, then went straight to the bathroom to get ready.

After taking a bath, I put on the charcoal colored wrap dress and black ankle strap pump shoes I prepared yesterday night. I also puffed a light make-up on my face and raised my hair in a tight ponytail.

I wanted to look elegant and straightforward. Satisfied, I put on a gemstone bracelet and crystal clear pierced pearl earrings.

I grabbed my black channel flap bag, shoved everything inside it, and went out of my bedroom.

When I pushed the door to exit my unit, I was stopped in my tracks when I saw a large powder pink colored rose laid in front of my door.

It wasn't there when I went to get the newspaper.

I picked up the stem of the rose and searched it for something.

"....."

Nothing.

I turned to look at the white rose yesterday still prettily standing on a gla.s.s bottle.

I frowned when an image of an otherworldly cold man flashed in my mind.

I shook my head. Still doubtful, I gently placed the powder colored pink rose together with the white rose. I intently stared at it for a moment.

Realizing that it wouldn't talk for answers, I turned around and exited my unit.

----?----

When I arrived at Tower One where Luke Jansen's office resides on the topmost floor, I was greeted by crowds of paparazzi the moment I stepped into the s.p.a.cious lobby. Different newscasters and journalist were present all from different entertainment, newspapers and magazine companies.

This was the first time that I saw a flock of media people. Luckily, they all seemed to be just standing there and waiting for someone.

Are there some famous people inside? Did a celebrity come?

After waving myself through the crowds, I rode the elevator and was greeted by Fredrick Lang, Uncle Luke's secretary, when I reached the regal man's office.

"h.e.l.lo Miss Lee, this way please."

I smiled and quietly followed him to a large room that appeared to be the boardroom.

Fredrick opened the door and I went inside.

The first thing I saw was a pair of cold frosty crystal clear aquamarine eyes.

What's he doing here?!

I subconsciously retracted my gaze to another part of the room and noticed that there were quite a few people present, including a charming glowing young lady that stuck out like a fairy, prettily sitting in a black and white room.

Holley Goldwood

So that was why there were so many media, the objects of today's news were here.

Not thinking anymore, I turned around and was about to exit the door when Fredrick Lang barged my way between me and my only way to freedom.

"Sit."

Uncle Luke's commanding tone resounded in the quiet room.
