5 Confrontation

"Can't ask around much anyway. Many kinds out there who wouldn't bat an eye performing experiments with this.", Stated Jach.

They stood there in silence for a moment.

"We should tell it what's happened.", Krys suggested hesitantly.

Jach gave no verbal reply. He just squeezed Krys' hand and looked down.

A moment later he looked back at Krys and gave a determined nod.

Krys nodded back and moved to open the door, before stopping and turning to Jach.

"...I don't think I should be the one breaking the news to it. Them.", Krys said. "I'll ask if they're human. Can you handle the rest?"

Jach replied with just a nod.

"... Good luck.", Krys added for good measure.

"To us both. We need it.", Jach chimed in.

Then they opened the door and headed in.

Kyvas was angry. But also worried.

This was the worst he'd been hit after pa.s.sing out in the past 3 months. By this time he could usually gain at least some motor control. But this time he hadn't even gotten his sight back!

And then there was the matter of these idiots pulling a prank on him. Who in their right mind does that? To a sick, incapacitated person at that?

A large part of his mind were furious at them. Another, smaller part couldn't help but think that there was a chance that this wasn't a prank. It didn't know what else it could be, but it knew that whatever it was, it wasn't good news.

Kyvas was suddenly surprised. It seemed like his vision was returning to him again. This time much more slowly than before.

He immediately focused all his attention to decipher his surroundings. It took a lot of straining to make out the outlines properly this time.

He found himself in a giant room. He couldn't figure out the dimensions right now but it felt like it was as big as a movie theater.

The walls and ceiling seemed to be tiled. There were numerous small bulb like this -- lights probably -- hanging all over the room at different heights. One of the longer sides of the room seemed to have a gallery halfway up it, with stairs leading up to it on either end as well as at two points in the middle of the room.

All in all, the room was simply ma.s.sive!

And also ma.s.sively empty.

Almost all of the furniture seemed to have been moved to one side of the room. To the wall farthest from him. Even still that was not a ton of furniture at all. Even with it in place the room must have been way too empty for comfort.

The only exception seemed to be whatever he was laying on. He couldn't get a proper look at it, but it seemed to be wooden. And it was rather close to the other shorter wall.

'They picked me up at least', he thought.

He couldn't help but feel that there was something wrong with the way he was perceiving his sight. Okay, yes, he could only see outlines and that was very obviously wrong. Just the outlines, no shading, no luminance, no color. Just outlines.

But that wasn't it. There was something else ma.s.sively wrong with it and he was having trouble figuring out what.

Just then, the door to the room opened. It was the door closest to him, as the room seemed to have half a dozen other entrances too.

Two figures stepped inside. Both nearly the same height, with the one in the front being just a couple fingers shorter. The shorter of the two also seemed to have a squarer face, hair that was looking enough to reach the base of his ears and a scrawnier build. His face had a much more hostile look than his partner, though it could have been his features rather than his expression that gave Kyvas that expression.

The taller was more muscular, though not bulgingly so. He wore both a pair of spectacles and a kinder look on his face though. His hair was longer, though he kept it in a bun.

One looked like he was ready to tear you apart while not having the strength to do so. The other looked like he could beat you up any time, but would rather just have a cup of coffee with you instead.

Both made their way over towards him.

The shorter one extended a hand out towards him and said, "You're a person right?"

It sounded like this was Krys. His voice was still loud but it was better than before.

'Of course I'm a person!', Kyvas snapped at him.

Krys just nodded and retracted his hand.

"We really have a problem now, Jach", Krys then turned to the other person -- named Jach apparently -- and said. His voice was suddenly much quieter.

Jach looked solemn after hearing that. He extended his hand towards Kyvas and started to talk.

"h.e.l.lo, I'm Jach and the one next to me is Krys. We're both professors from the academy. Could you, maybe, tell us where you are from?"

To Kyvas it looked like he was talking without moving his lips.

'What? No! Who know's what you'll do with that!'

"Hey, calm down, no need to panic. We don't want to do anything bad. Just the name of your city or town will do." Jach rea.s.sured.

'... London. Why, where am I?'

Jach retreated his arm and turned to Krys.

"They say they're from London. I've never heard of this place. Could you look it up for me?", He asked him.

"Of course." Krys said before heading over to the other side of the room, presumably to look for London in one of the books there.

'What the h.e.l.l do you mean you don't know about London? Okay, this is a prank for sure isn't it?' Kyvas yelled internally. No reply came to his thoughts though.

A moment later Jach extended his hand again.

"You're at the Academy in Dihovas. We don't know where London is. Can you tell us which country it lies in? Something in the east probably. Am I right?" He asked.

'What? No it's in the UK! What kind of a prank are you pulling here?'

"Why would we pull a prank on you?"

'That's what I want to know!'

"... I have never heard of a place called UK. Can you see? I'll show you a map if you can. You can point it out."

'...'

"Please?"

'...Where's my sister? She was in the room when I pa.s.sed out. Where's Seph?'

Jach had a surprised look on his face.

"I didn't know Seph had a sibling. I'll call her, wait."

With that, he retracted his hand. He went over to Krys and told him about everything.

"I don't think he's talking about our Seph. She's from Dihovas as well.", Krys noted.

"Well, she's the one who came up with these glyphs. I think It's worth calling her in anyway." Jach replied.

"Alright. You go and call her. I'll keep watch till then."
