Chapter 18

Chapter XVII: Kingdom's bloodline - End of book 1: Heir of the Kingdom

Accident - Thales lowered his head as there was a deep helplessness in his heart - accident always come suddenly.

At that moment, Thales seemed to see the Magus of Air appeared with an ethereal smile in his brain, saying to him: "See, this is coincidence, this is unexpected accident."

Joel silently took back the fire.

The middle-aged n.o.bleman recovered his calmness from the excitement just now. He looked at Thales and patted his head gently.

"Child, it's okay."

"I am Gilbert Castro, you can believe in me just as your father believes in me."

"Come, child, I will take you home."

"To see your father."

Thales demurred for a whole minute.

During this period, whether it was Joel or Gilbert, both waited for him patiently.

"Let's go." Thales looked up, his eyes were calm.

Gilbert nodded and showed approval in his eyes. He stood up and reached out to point in the direction of the carriage.

Thales turned his head and looked at Joel:

"Joel, you will follow me, right?"

"Of course," Yodel's hoa.r.s.e voice echoed inside Thales' ears, which was very rea.s.suring at that moment: "Please go ahead, I will be by your side."

Thales took a deep breath and strode to the carriage.

"Mr. Gilbert."

"Yes, my little gentleman, what is your order?"

"What did you do before?"

"Diplomatic affairs, my little gentleman."

Diplomatic affairs?

Thales gently turned his head, and at the angle that Gilbert couldn't see, he rolled his eyes to Joel behind him.

Thales turned back his head.

Somehow, he vaguely felt that Joel did smile slightly behind the mask.

Thales arrived at the plain but seemingly expensive carriage, he saw that the gla.s.s on the black compartment door was decorated with limestar.

Two black horses were biting their metal snaffle quietly, as one of them chummily headed toward Gilbert.

Looking at the high pedal, Thales measured the height of his seven-year-old body and felt a bit dispirited.

But before he could turn his head, Gilbert opened the door and carried Thales to the crimson sofa inside the cabin.

"I am sorry, there is no parking stair." Gilbert smiled apologetically and closed the compartment door.

"But I promise this is the last time."

Thales sat alone on the wide sofa made of unknown material. Although it was very comfortable, he was somewhat restless.

As there were luminous paints on the corners of the cabin, he could barely see the decoration inside. He saw a star pattern framed in a circle was firmly embedded on the surface of the carriage's rear.

One, two, three, four, five... nine, nine points.

Thales thought quietly: This is a nine-pointed star.

Before he could recover from this though, the carriage already started.

Thales climbed to the window, the sky was dimly bright and the view from the window was not very clear.

Thales then sat back on the sofa, feeling bored.

"Joel, are you there?" he asked tentatively.

Immediately next to his ears:

"Yes."

Thales was shocked, he stood up and looked around, but there was no other figure inside and outside of the carriage except for Gilbert, who was driving.

Forget it, I am used to it anyway.

Thales sat back on the sofa and continued to ask, "Where are we going??"

"Upcoming is the Hall of Meredith." The hoa.r.s.e voice came again.

Me——Me——Meredith??

Forget it, I don't recognize the words anyway.

Who can think that a few hours ago I was still in the Ruin, bleeding to survive, being injured in Red Lane Street to escape, and now?

Thales patted the sofa under his bottom,

Don't know who is my father of this life.

It doesn't matter anyway, let the devil and the G.o.d come and I shall deal with them all. I even met the immortal magus, what else can scare me?

The transmigrator exhaled and felt a little hot, pulling the ragged clothes on his chest.

Being careless, he touched the burn on his chest.

Thales released a "hisss" sound and looked at the burn.

On the edge of the burn that was branded by Clyde, a circle of motto in archaic patterns seemed to be faintly visible.

This is - A king does not regard of his bloodline as respects - Thales thought of the words on the silver coin.

He suddenly slapped his forehead.

Meredith—— Meredith silver coin?

Isn't that, isn't that the wise king of Stella Kingdom?

Wait, then, the Hall of Meredith?

The carriage suddenly stopped.

Thales, still overwhelmed by his disordered thoughts and confusions, was respectfully asked to get off the carriage by Gilbert.

Next to the carriage was a small and exquisite garden paved with some kind of hard but unidentified floor tiles. In the middle of the garden, there is a dedicate fountain, its water is sprayed from the mouth of a stone dragon with a head tilled to the sky.

Thales turned his head in surprise and looked at the huge black iron gate of the garden. The black iron gate seemed to be engraved with scenes that Thales didn't know about, but there were big flags on the left and right sides of the iron gate, waving in the wind.

On the flags, there is pattern of double silver cross stars, with the white band on the top and the blue band at the bottom. The two silver cross stars, one large and one small, stacked upon each other, while the smaller cross star is lowered to the right side of the bigger one.

Thales recognized them, the flag that flies at the highest peak of the West Gate also had this pattern.

White band on the top, blue band at the bottom, double silver cross stars.

The flag of Stella Kingdom.

The two flags in the garden have in the lower left corner of the bigger silver cross star an embroidered small gold and silver nine-pointed star, with four gold corners, five silver corners.

That was the same pattern engraved on the carriage's rear.

When Thales regained his attention, in front of him was a gorgeous three floors building with eight beautifully carved columns supporting the large balcony of the second floor. In the middle of the top floor, there was a window lit with lights.

The main entrance of the building is made of fir wood - in the big market on the side of the West Gate, Thales once saw a furniture merchant selling a large table made of fir wood and asking for 50 gold coins.

Of course, the merchant later "voluntarily" sold the table to Black Street Brotherhood at a preferential price of one gold coin.

Thales confusingly followed Gilbert, rejecting Joel's open arms and insisting on enduring the wounds and exhaustion of his body, struggling to walk into the giant gate made of fir wood.

The doorway and the hall, including the corridor that goes up the spiral staircase, were under the light of a s.h.i.+ning Inextinguishable lamp holding the Eternal Oil. Standing on the first floor was the rows of guards armed from head to toes as their eyes were staring straight ahead without blinking. They seemed to be selected carefully with the same height, each has a set of sword, s.h.i.+eld and crossbow, on all the metal s.h.i.+elds there were the gold and silver nine-pointed star.

Thales clung to the handrails on the side of the stairs and walked slowly to the second floor.

On the second floor, three portraits are hung on the wall facing the main entrance of the building.

The portrait in the middle is a majestic young knight with a long a.s.sault spear, having a handsome appearance along with a heroic and brave expression. He wears a silver seven-pointed star crown on his head and fearlessly charges forward the fierce battlefield in the background.

On the left is a vigorous warrior using sword and s.h.i.+eld, with a full silver nine-pointed start symbol engraved on his s.h.i.+eld and a nine-pointed star crown on his head. He has a determined, exceptional and heroic face, while the background is a lush and st.u.r.dy towering tree.

On the right is an amiable and benevolent middle-aged man sitting on the throne, behind him is a brightly lit city, on his left hand is a scepter encrusted with precious glowing kyanite gemstones, on his right hand is a large book with a pattern of the sun, the moon and five different stars on it.

The temperaments of the three n.o.ble gentlemen are different, but the artists seem to have grasped the charm of each of the three people. Thales looked at the portraits, bewildered, as if they were real people coming to life.

It seemed that this is a great n.o.ble house with a long heritage.

Unfortunately, Thales didn't know any of them.

Wait, why is that handsome middle-aged guy looks so familiar?

When Thales was about to open his clothes and look at the head that was branded on his chest, the sound a calm and steady footstep came.

"That was Tormund the First, the last prince of the Last Empire, founder of the Stella Kingdom, 'the King of Renaissance'. From the War of Termination, his heroism has been praised and pa.s.sed down since then."

"Besides him on the left is Midir the Forth, comrade of the hero Samuel and the prophet Cain, protector of the Sacred Tree, 'the Oath Keeper', since he and his elf queen, the Brightstar bloodline has elven blood in it."

"The last is Meredith the Third, 'the Wise King', from n.o.bles to priestesses, from merchants to beggars, without exception, everyone praised his sagacious rule."

This was a deep and majestic voice that comes through a lower frequency, but it was like a thunder hidden in the dark clouds, faintly vibrating.

Behind Thales, Gilbert and Joel both kneeled down on one knee.

Thales swallowed a sip of saliva and slowly raised his head.

A vigorous figure slowly walked toward him, having a mighty and determined face that makes the transmigrator think of the sword s.h.i.+eld warrior on the left portrait.

This is a strong, vigorous n.o.bleman at the prime age of his life. He has dark hair, high nose, a pair of deep eyes with azure pupils that are sharp like the sword. There was a scepter held in his left hand as he stood in front of the Thales, looking at the boy through and through.

Thales was a little dumbfounded and stared back at the n.o.bleman in front of him with wide opened eyes.

He couldn't restrain himself from getting nervous.

With the experience of two worlds, still, no one has taught him: What should I do at this time?

The vigorous n.o.bleman had been looking at him for a long time, so long that even Thales was a little embarra.s.sed.

However, his gaze did not give Thales the feel of intimate or rea.s.suring. Instead, it made him stressed and somewhat suffocating.

To say it bluntly, even the insane eyes of Echidna Stern were more comfortable than this.

But the transmigrator suddenly noticed that the vigorous n.o.bleman in front of him was also wearing the same nine-pointed star crown drawn in the sword and s.h.i.+eld warrior portrait, and the scepter in his left hand, however you look at it, is exactly like the scepter encrusted with kyanite gemstones drawn in the middle-aged man portrait on the right.

Gilbert whispered beside him, as to remind: "Child, this is your father."

"My father?"

Thales lowered his eyes and looked at the blue star cloak behind the n.o.bleman, he couldn't help but muttered.

The face of his father from the previous life slowly reflected in his mind, but it was a little vague.

Thales took a deep breath and refocused his eyes.

"Who are you?"

He heard that his voice was utterly flat.

The vigorous n.o.bleman did not answer but frowned.

At this moment, Gilbert looked up. Using an authoritative, solemn and unquestionable tone, he started to announce:

"This is Kaiser Meredith Eddie Brightstar, 'the iron fist' and the fifth of his name.

The rightful heir of the Last Empire and successor of the hero Midir.

Lord of the Ludorian and the Northerner of the Western Continent, Conqueror of 'the Throne of Dragon Bones' and 'the Altar of Desert G.o.d'.

Protector of the Sacred Tree and Sera Princ.i.p.ality, Guardian of the Steel City and the Free Alliance.

The thirteenth High king of Stella Kingdom, the Southern Archipelago, and the Western Desert."

Thales could only feel a cold in his heart and his breathing accelerated.

A suffocating pressure was crus.h.i.+ng him.

Kaiser looked at Thales with a pair of deep eyes.

After a long while, he turned his head and looked at Gilbert and Joel on both sides.

The vigorous king, Kaiser the Fifth, used his heavy and thick voice to speak out each of his words:

"He is my descendant, my kingdom's bloodline?"

"The last and only remnant of my bloodline in the whole Stella kingdom?"
