She went to sit on her chair and greeted him with her best possible smile "Good morning, dad". Lucas looked up from his newspaper and glanced at Lara. He saw her wide smile and then greeted back with a small smile "morning".

Lucas heard her words and then after 2 minutes of silence he replied "why gynecologist?"

Lara was starting to get very nervous as her father didn't reply for a long time and just as she was going to speak once again elaborating her plans, he asked why she want to be a gynecologist. It was for her mother. Always has been. Her sole dream and goal.

She looked up at her father and explained calmly "Mom died because of doctor's inability and because proper treatment and facilities were not provided in the hospital back in Alamo, as it was a small village. I want to be a great gynecologist and help as many women as I can so that I can help to reduce maternity mortality ratio."

Lucas was deeply touched when he heard her daughter's reasoning. The sole thought of her helping others touched his heart. But then he thought...the empire, the business he nurtured all these years, what will happen to it? If Lara will not inherit his business and not run the company and his men then what will happen to his hard work all these years, his efforts.

He cannot wait for Lara to give birth to an heir as it was a long time and he was not sure that he'll live till that day. He thought about it thoroughly and then said "Lara, you cannot".

She lightly asked "Why dad?" She again sat in silence for two minutes before she heard a sigh escape from her father before he explained "The company I built over all these years, after all efforts I put into it is my everything. I know it was luck and hard work both that led it to where it is right now. We deal with silver and gold trading all over the world now and our jewelry line 'Ella' is globally renowned too."

Lara was getting more and more confused as to why her dad was mentioning history of their company right now. It was not related at all. She thought that her father must be facing some difficulties in company so she asked "Is there something wrong with company? Are you facing some difficulties? Why do you so worried? And why are you mentioning this right now?" Her voice laced with tension and worry for her father.

Lucas took a deep breath and then answered all of Lara's questions. "No dear, there is nothing wrong with the company and no, the company is not facing any kind of difficulties."
