Volume 1 Chapter 1

I reincarnated as a losing heroine, the hero’s childhood friend who lost to the main heroine, so I switched jobs to alchemist

Chapter 01: My future is being a losing heroine

"--Oh, I'm going to die" The young me realized that.

At the same time something whispered in my head "I remembered --Oh, I've seen this event before."

The last sight before I fall unconscious is of those sharp fangs of that demon approaching in front of me while the voice of a young boy pierced my ears.

"Laur-!"

That was my name.

And at the same time in other part of my head - "that was the name of the losing heroine in the role-playing game I had played in a previous life."

In this moment, I'm facing a death danger, but I know that I won't die now.

I know it because the memory of my previous life, so let's calm down and introduce myself first.

My name is Laura, Laura Ampere and I'm from a small, rural village called the village of Eme, Currently, I'm 8 years old.

However, my mental age is about 20 years old, what I mean by that is simple.

I regained my memory of a previous life, that happened too, just now.

In my previous life, I was an ordinary student who had a short life because an unfortunate accident.

I was born in j.a.pan, grew up in j.a.pan, and died in j.a.pan.

--Past life... In the course of my short life, I met a girl named Laura.

The place where we met was the TV, through the screen.

Yes, Laura was a character in a role-playing game I played in my previous life.

The name of the game is "The Last Brave".

The main character, who awakens the power of the brave Hero, defeats the Demon King.

However, I was captivated by this game, The Last Brave, with one story twist after another.

The protagonist grows up in spite of his own hesitation.

A young man who he met on his journey and become the one and only best friend of the hero.

A mature man who guides the protagonist.

A genius magical girl with an enormous amount of magical power hidden in her small body.

The Treasure Hunter girl who is the mood-maker for the party members.

And a girl of an ancient species who has a fateful encounter with the protagonist.

Every character was compelling, every character had its own drama, and not only the party members, but the supporting characters as well.

For better or worse, the story does not disappoint you.

Fascinating characters, a simple and easy to understand combat system, spectacular music, backgrounds, schema of colors.

All the elements mesh and complement each other, and this is a game that deserves to be called a masterpiece.

This is not my personal evaluation, but I think it was generally well received by the public as well.

--but most of the players who were unhappy with it, were angry because of the treatment that suffered certain character.

That person is Laura, Laura Ampere.

Yes, this is me in this life.

Laura is, to put it bluntly, the childhood friend of the main character in The Last Brave.

She was born in the same village as the main character, spent time with him since he was a child...

And is the picture of the perfect childhood friend, the one who says goodbye to him when he set off to travel as a brave hero, abandoning village...

--She wasn't just a childhood friend, however... it's hard to say.

The night before the protagonist leaves the village, Laura confesses to the protagonist.

And then, with tears in her eyes, she tells him "I'll be waiting for your return"

The protagonist didn't know how to answer to her feelings at that moment, but Laura herself stop him to keep talking, saying that she didn't need a reply at that moment-

He didn't rejected her, but I think she acted as if she was expecting to be rejected

Upon hearing this description, many people may feel that Laura is being portrayed in a manner similar to that of the heroine.

In fact, when I was playing "Last Brave", I thought Laura was the heroine until around the middle of the game.

--I'll conclude.

Laura was not a heroine.

The heroine was a girl of an ancient species whom the hero met on his journey.

Laura certainly confessed, and the protagonist didn't reject that thought either.

But after meeting the girl of the ancient species, it was as if Laura's existence had been erased from the world.

The protagonist and the girl of the ancient species relations.h.i.+p development captives the audience for sure.

The mystery and darkness of the world is gradually revealed.

The girl of the ancient species is intimately involved with them, and the protagonists get caught up in various events as he tries to protect her.

The girl is abducted and the protagonist go to rescue her.

She's brainwashed and turned into an enemy but the protagonist breaks that brainwas.h.i.+ng with a desperate call.

The Demon King has finally awakened.

In desperation, the hero and the girl hold the hands of each other.

The thoughts that sprout in the midst of this... That desire eventually become a light that will illuminate this world!

The royal road....It's a cla.s.sic RPG.

You feel empathy for the hero who leads the way as a brave, you feel close to his friends who save the world with him,

and you take a liking to the heroine - a girl of an ancient species who has feelings for the hero.

Once the hero meets the heroine, the story begins to unfold one after another....

Players have their hands full, and they're scrambling to save the world, the hope is key that leads the hero and heroine who are able to communicate with each other in the midst of despair created for the Demon King.

-- so we forget about it. The presence of that childhood friend, who ended up waiting for the hero, that appeared on the scenes in the first hour.

...I had forgotten about her in my previous life.

It was in the midst of the emotional ending and fulfillment that I was reminded of her presence.

No, it's was forceful reminder made for the game's staff members. That's because the final credits where the staff names appear over an ill.u.s.tration of Laura.

"Speaking of which, what happened to that girl I grew up with?"

Once that question came to your mind, it was no good. One question after another came to your mind.

"Come to think of it, she confessed to me, hasn't she?"

"Are you still in the village waiting for the hero to return?"

"But the hero had fall in love with the heroine, right?"

"What are you going to do, protagonist?"

"What did the staff want to do with this character in the first place?"

--and so forth.

There were more than a few players who had similar questions, and there was a lot of discussion on the net.

Having said that, the conclusion is the same.

A girl of an ancient species is the heroine.

The protagonist has bonded with a girl of an ancient species.

Laura is heartbroken.

At the same time, however, most players acknowledged that the protagonist's att.i.tude to Laura's confession seemed to be less than satisfactory.

And there are also voices that accuse him of being rude to others, or that he has no hesitation in closing the distance with other girls while keeping his childhood friend waiting.

More than that, there was a lot of frustration for the part of the producers about what the staff wanted to do with Laura, everybody feels a lot of sympathy for her.

--and yet the players' conclusions never wavered.

The heroine is the girl of the ancient species.

Laura is heartbroken - a losing heroine, so to speak.

I was in agreement with that opinion.

And in the same way, I felt sorry for Laura.

They had grown up together all their lives, even they were treated like a semi-official couple in the village.

How would you feel if you were waiting for the protagonist, and when he came back, you found the person of his destiny next to him? I don't want to suffer that.

And most of all, the power of the hero... It was awakened in an event where she tried to save Laura from being attacked by a demon when she was young.

"Laura!"

Wow! It's a great way to get a better idea of what's going on in your life.

He holds back tears full in his blue eyes.

"Oh, future brave hero, it's a pity that you cry over something like this! "
