17 Chapter 17: Peerless Sword Ar

Due to this, Marcus also added some healing Martial Skills to the Peerless Sword Art Cultivation Technique. The healing skills ranged from normal healing skills to offensive skills that had vampiric properties. This way every time Mimphralgos attacks he would be able to heal himself like a vampire stealing a human's blood. Marcus also added a defensive technique that he created for his own use [Fragile Defense]. This technique needed the user to create multiple small s.h.i.+elds made of mana around their body. Then they would fuse the s.h.i.+elds together to make a single multilayered s.h.i.+eld. The longer one uses this skill and the higher their mastery the better since the more tiny s.h.i.+elds there were the stronger the attacks that it could block. Furthermore, once someone has achieved a high mastery in the skill they can the multilayered s.h.i.+elds and fuse them with other multilayered s.h.i.+elds! This further increases the s.h.i.+eld's stopping power. The way this skill works is that each layer of the skill supports the layer above it giving it enough strength to stop an attack. Alone each layer would be too weak to stop even a slight tap but together they were an impenetrable wall. Furthermore, each time a tiny s.h.i.+eld breaks, it diverts the energy of the attack away from the user's body effectively deflecting the attack. Then the other layers would widen and replace the missing layer creating a tightly interwoven skin made of mana. The smaller the mana s.h.i.+eld that one creates the better since if the s.h.i.+elds were too big, once one disappears a huge section of your body would be left undefended. Marcus also modified the technique to add [Wave Healing] to it so that Mimphralgos would constantly heal as long as the technique was being used. This poised Mimphralgos to become a War G.o.d. All he needed now was training and some Divine Mana.

He also added [Berserk] to the Cultivation Technique. This Martial Skill is very self-explanatory. The more damage someone takes the stronger they become; the more blood you lose the more your enemy loses. This was meant to be Mimphralgos last life-saving technique to get himself out of a dicey situation. However, knowing him he would probably use the moment he starts fighting. In fact, he might not even use the [Fragile Regenerating Defense]. Marcus reminded himself to make sure to drill into Mimphralgos' mind that he must treasure his life and not be too careless.

The attacking methods of the Peerless Sword Art are simple, attack strong and fast then continue ramping on the damage. Well, its focus is really more on the attack strong part rather than the fast part.

Next Marcus decided to create Cultivation Techniques for Xato and Pharos. Their Cultivation Techniques were mostly the same at the core but they differed in the execution. Pharos used dual longswords but Xato uses a short and a longsword. This means that their way of attacking was different. Xato created a fine balance between attack and defence but Pharos was more focused towards attacking than defending. Even when she did defend she completely ignored attacking and focused fully on defending. This was an ineffective way of fighting if used incorrectly especially when wielding dual swords. This was because one is too invested in either or that they would be unable to respond to the rapid changes in battle. It would be fine if one's offence was extremely powerful or if one's defence had no holes but who could guarantee that their moves were truly flawless? If that was the case why would master swordsmen bother to put their minds in the rate state before starting a battle if their every move was truly perfect? Of course, no one could guarantee that they were perfect! Only arrogant people who have small worldviews would dare to say so. They dare to say so because they are blinded by their own arrogance and that their vision is extremely small. Even when master swordsmen say such a thing they usually say it in jest or to bolster their pride. It's fine to be proud after all the sword is proud! But when pride grows into arrogance and develops into blind arrogance what awaits is the bitter embrace of failure! No one in the universe could ever dare claim that they're perfect in every way; not even the G.o.ds dare to say so after all who is to say that there is no one above them? Marcus aimed to teach Pharos the ability to control both her swords as two different ent.i.ties and he wants Xato to use his swords as a single ent.i.ty. This was why even though their Cultivation Techniques had the same core they had different executions!
