256 Attack 3

However, when thought over carefully, since sci-fi items could be materialized through the system's help, what was there to be surprised about supernatural ones?

When compared to ghosts, maybe a zombie or a living dead feeding on flesh and blood was not really very shocking. After all, even from three years ago, she chanced upon the related accursed item on the shop list.

Now all she wondered was if these things existed even before time immemorial? Or are these only conjured by the system after collecting various data from the works and dreams of the whole of humanity?

'The system is really very mysterious.' In the end, she concluded.

Despite being hypnotized to follow her lead, the dozen people behind her showed fear on their faces. It was the preys' natural reactions to predators. Sofony could understand this, especially since they were from the high grounds and could see clearly how the monsters feasted on the b.l.o.o.d.y body parts.

It was a breathtaking sight, just not in a normal way.

"It seems we arrive just after those people threw live humans to feed them..." She quietly said.

Seconds pa.s.sed and after the hair-raising part, the woman grew very incensed and angry. Yet she was rational enough to consider that she must not be swayed by her emotions. These creatures were not the ones she had to save her energy for. Their creators were!

After verifying from the system that the ugly, smelly, and repulsive monsters were like the ones from the movies, she threw a grenade to the left. When the monsters not roasted by the blast of fire flocked to that area, she then led her followers to jump down and run the opposite side, slipping into the corridor to the right.

Finally, they arrived at where the cells containing the victims were.

As she walked through the dim pathway, she commanded, "Release everyone. But don't allow them to run around."

Sofony approached one of the cells and narrowed her eyes at the scene she saw inside. The state and smell of the people huddling in the farthest corner were unbearable. The place was dirty. Plus if the ones those horrible creatures came from here, it was understandable why everyone inside was cowering in fear, showing indignation, and afraid of strangers.

"It seems to them, those standing on the other side of the bars are people coming to torture them."

The ones listening in front of their screens showed differing reactions. Some sympathized. The majority did not believe that everything they were seeing was real. Those from the latter group went as far as to type caps lock that Sofony's script was nice and that she had hired good actors.

If this uncouth and foul-mouthed bunch discovered that there were no real cameras set up in place and that all the prisoners could see was a lone woman kicking the thick and tough metal bars down, just what would their reactions be? They would most likely be frightened or confused to death, no?

"Come out everyone. Follow that bald guy. He will lead you out of this place."

Sofony was the only one talking and laying out instructions. One time, one of the fidgety middle-aged man talked back to her, accusing her of deceiving them and luring them to feed the monsters, but all it took was a stern glare from her to shut him up, along with everybody.

"Mister, the way back is tricky. So I'll leave the decision to you. Everyone else just has to follow."

The one she called mister, a tall heavily armed man with a huge scar on his neck, obediently received the weapon supplies and explosives from her. "I'll just have to lead them out through the first pathway, right?"

Sofony nodded. "Lead them out and arrange a place for them to stay. That's all you have to do. We'll part here."

She pursed her lips after saying this. Her throat seemed drier than before, not because she had spoken so much, but because the situation was not really pleasing to the eyes.

'My conscience is so bothersome. If it weren't for these people, I would not have split my new forces into so many directions. d.a.m.n, my softie part!'

Under her hypnosis, the people lined up nicely at the dark and depressive hallway and followed after the mafia men. The woman continued walking deeper into the place, searching for the way up. Her steps were not hurried. Yet her eyes that scanned even the most dimly lit corner of each prison cell were very sharp and piercing. It was as if no secret would go unnoticed by her.

But actually, ever since she entered the eerie and foul-smelling place, all she had in mind was that she hated how she couldn't just directly teleport to the next level.

...

A few minutes already pa.s.sed since Sofony and the others infiltrated the organization. Chris was aware that Sofony had put a thousand or so people under her command and split them into several groups while the other two just sneaked into a base each by themselves.

He had inferred the former by checking the military compounds and mafia hideouts. The woman was quite reserved when it comes to Country F's own army due to their relations to Gio, but since the people of the empire had no such connections to anybody she valued, there was no reason for her to hesitate using such convenient resources for her own means.

"That annoying woman is one thing, but I didn't know even this unreasonable b.a.s.t.a.r.d loves charging head-on with no plans whatsoever."

In front of the blonde idol, a heavily-bearded middle-aged man clicked his tongue. The two were inside an una.s.suming bungalow house near the airport. Because the way he sat before the computer was so relaxed and unlike his appearance's age, the rope-bound woman stared at him weirdly.

Before Sofony left, she gave Chris the task of making the spy speak, informed through encrypted text. The target was, of course, unaware, but the man seemed to have no intention of starting it anytime soon.

Maila was feeling uneasy being alone with a rough-looking man. She asked, "Respected Sir, may I know if there's something I need to do? Why I am brought here?"

The way she spoke was very polite and was coupled with her voice that had made several hundreds of thousands of alb.u.ms sale. However, the man didn't appear enchanted at all. The intelligent woman knew it was because the guy was probably immune to Sofony and Sofia's voices.

Instead of answering her, Chris only said to the system, 'Please, repeat.'

Even though the childish voice complained, in reality, it was already playing the recording Sofia had given him under Sofony's silent urging. The content of the audio was her previous interrogation of her friend. The half-host knitted his brows, not due to the heartrending stuff that this woman went through, but because he confirmed that a few details in her stories didn't add up.

He looked through the various information he dug up from the web and saw that all her records didn't suggest that she was that extraordinarily brilliant like she claimed. Was she faking it? But Sofia said this friend of hers was great in dancing and making cute poses, but was not a good actress.

'She is bright. But everyone upgraded by the system is. There's nothing truly spectacular about her. Why is that woman wary of this girl?'

The sole resident of his brain hesitantly answered.

The greatest difference between Chris and Sofony was how the former's AI always took the initiative to offer free information while the latter was an annoying existence that never failed to give Sofony countless headaches. Just now, even though system AI 98's perverted remarks had made Chris very speechless, it did give him a very important lead.

With a scrunched up face, he asked, 'If those two points you mentioned are incorrect, is she hypnotized or brainwashed?'

While the half-host was left to wonder on his own how that situation was made possible, three locations within the empire started to heavily reek of blood and gunpowder. Of the three, the village where Sofony was seemed to be the one with the most cries of misery and desire for life.

The system reported that most casualties from her side were the mafia men. This showed her that the enemies clearly felt apprehensive against the government's soldiers.

'So distasteful. The government and the organization are really working together...'

Sofony was frowning. And this frown deepened when she took the left turn after climbing the gloomy staircase and saw a familiar man emerging from the oppressive darkness.
