240 Maila 2

Central Alina.

Maila Asuncion, the prized idol of Starlight, separated with her manager and climbed out of the company van. It was almost seven in the evening. They had just finished work today.

Her manager drove her to the condominium where she was renting a place. It might have sounded weird that a popular idol like her was renting a place, but actually, the reason behind it was that she was waiting for the house she commissioned with a construction firm to be finished. By the estimate the representative told her, it would take another two months before she would be able to move in.

A few minutes later, as the twenty-one years old beautiful blonde woman went out of the elevator and walked towards her own unit, she sighed,

'It's actually quite a challenge to be an actress... On my first scene alone, I got seven NGs. Am I that terrible?'

Her face crumpled in irritation as she remembered how that Director Dave looked at her last NG.

It was as like if the company backing her didn't have Sofony Silver as its owner, he would have long exchanged her with somebody else.

Poisonous thoughts came in her mind while opening the door to her apartment,

'That d.a.m.nable man is so heartless. It's not like we didn't roll in the sheets together before. I hope his wife finds his affairs with the other women and kill him. But, of course, only after the filming.'

She flipped the switch by the side. Subsequently, the place was brightly illuminated.

"Welcome home."

Surprise got written all over Maila's face when she saw her friend, Sofia inside. Shortly, it was replaced by a wide smile. The brightness of her face caused by the presence of her friend could rival the light coming from the fluorescent lamp above.

"I didn't know you will pay me a visit, Sofy!"

The other woman was sitting on the coffee table, munching on some chocolates which were surely gotten from her refrigerator.

"h.e.l.lo. I dropped by to check on you."

Maila went to the sofa. She took off her brown long wool coat and draped it over the armrest. She laughed, "Why would you have to check on me?"

"Who knows if you are still depressed by Chris Meyer's removal from the cast of the TV drama you're currently working with?"

Maila plopped down the sofa and shrugged, "I am. I still can't believe it."

"How's the first day of filming? It's different this time. The difficulty of a real drama was higher than an MV."

"I know. But I'm surviving," the idol laughed again.

However, puzzlement crossed her eyes when she realized that her normally soft-spoken friend was acting weirdly.

Sofia seemed so distant despite being near her.

This friend of hers also looked indifferently at her just now.

Was she hallucinating?

The actress was a good friend who only acted like this when performing.

Outside of it, Maila knew Sofia as a very caring woman, someone who would not show boredom when listening or speaking to anyone.

"You seem different today," the idol voiced out, her blue eyes blinking twice at the other.

"Why do you say so?" Sofia stood up. She threw the chocolate wrapper inside the trash bin hidden behind the sofa.

As the actress did this, Maila watched her while subconsciously asking, "Did I do wrong? If you're like this, it means you're angry."

A laugh came out of the clone. Since she was looking down to the other wrappers and pieces of garbage in the trash can, her long eyelashes looked to be sloping downward, creating soft shadows on her white cheeks.

Under the dark shade, her eyes appeared to have an extra depth on them. It also helped emphasized her glowing orbs. It was simply an enchanting sight.

Maila couldn't help but admit that even if she was a genuine foreign beauty with the deadly blonde hair and blue eyes combination, she would never be able to compete with this girl in terms of appearance.

"... Do you like your life now?"

The question seemed to have been asked out of the blue.

The blonde raised a brow, but thought over it before nodding,

"A celebrity's life is quite tricky. We always have to be conscious of others' eyes and be clean, beautiful, and cute-looking as always. Sometimes it's tiring because our schedule is always packed. But yeah, it's not that bad."

"In short, you like it." Sofia smiled. She returned her gaze to the woman, meeting her eyes as a result.

"I do. It's a fulfilling life at least. Especially now that we're enjoying the success after working for it for so long."

At the nodding Maila, Sofia sneered. Her real personality was showing.

But emphatically she said,

"It must be a lot nicer than being confined in a dark room and made to be some pigs' s.e.x slave."

Maila accidentally held her breath due to what she heard. Repeatedly she questioned her mind if her ears did not play on her? Such malicious words came from her good friend Sofia?

Wait... How did she know of that?

Her eyes widened. Unlike the person standing on her left, she was not as good in controlling her expression. Even if she managed to return her face to normal, her reactions did not escape Sofia's notice.

"Hey, girl. What are you saying?"

Maila tried to act dumb, but the actress did not buy it.

Sofia giggled. "Exactly as you heard. Before you arrived at Country J, you were a slave in C Empire. Which base are you from? And how did you escape?"

"Sofia!" Maila's eyes trembled, same with her voice. While looking away, she replied, "I, I don't know what you're saying!"

"You know. It's impossible for you to not know what your body went through. It must be hard. And traumatizing. Especially given your physical traits. You are surely someone abducted from the Western countries."

Bad memories began to sprout from deep within. Maila stilled.

A few seconds later, her body began shaking.

She slowly turned her head to Sofia in an almost robotic fas.h.i.+on. She inched away from the black-haired woman. With her head shaking left and right, she stammered out, "Y-you... Are y-you, with them too?"

The clone rolled her eyes and scoffed. The being in her head was madly laughing.

'Too, she said. This woman is really still in contact with those people. Wow.'

She felt disappointment at the other since it most likely meant that she was standing on the other side.

How distasteful. It was a phrase that Sofony would surely say if she was the one witnessing this. But it was indeed like that.

Maila was definitely mistreated by those people. So did she exchange a bit of her freedom from a higher-up with her body? Or did she volunteer to be a spy? And the target of her espionage was her Original?

What guts!

"Before me, who else did you meet and what did that person ask you to do?" Directly to the point, she asked.

This was the important part for Sofia.

No matter how minor a person's role was in that organization, as long as it was about the enemies, she wouldn't let them off.

Any information too should be grasped. Who knows, maybe this person knew some important stuff about that evil group?

"... I-It's Sir Gu."

"Oh?" She doesn't know who the heck that Gu was, but the other party didn't have to be aware of that.

She materialized a gun in her right hand and pointed it to Maila.

The latter's eyes widened and the fear lingering in her face intensified. Her expression seemingly told the clone,

'As expected, she's one of them.'

"What did that guy ask you to do?"

The woman's eyes began to swim in all direction. However, it didn't take long for her to freeze up, must be from realizing that something was odd.

If Sofia was from that same evil group, why was she threatening her with a gun?
