273 The Trade 2

There was also that blonde woman Maila who went through something more traumatic. The sh.e.l.l of that woman might be different, but she was confident that the memories at least were authentic. Yet because they were real that Sofony felt sad about her and didn't immediately have her killed after discovering all the abnormalities in her.

It was hard to tell how many of the folks she rescued tonight had gone through the same level of sh*ts. But while this proved her claim, it also showed that not everyone pushed to the brink of death and made to suffer h.e.l.l on earth could be so fortunate to be bound by the system.

All immoral hosts had the chance to upgrade their IQs. It would be admitting that pigs could naturally fly if she said that only that whoever Mao thought of kidnapping people everywhere and subjecting them to torture in order to turn them into enslaved immoral hosts.

Who knows how many from the depressed population was intentionally caused to be like that by those in their ranks? Surely, the total would not be mere thousands. Maybe millions... After all, the ones who would do this are definitely insane and morally corrupt people. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

The red-haired woman sitting before her rhythmically tapped on the surface of her cup. Bathory answered, "Even if I verified that your hunch is correct, what of it?"

Sofony knew it was time to say her piece.

"I'll agree with the promise but only after you agree to mine. Help me kill that 'Level 8' leader and wipe off this organization."

"Oh? You want to borrow my hands to complete your mission?" Hearty laughter rang after this.

Sofony did not wait for the other to finish her laughing spree. "I do. And I think it's still unfair because like what I emphasized earlier, that old guy is only a level 8 system user."

Bathory stopped laughing. There was a hint of frost that flashed across her eyes when she said,

"Are you forgetting that like you mentioned there could be other potential candidates other than you? You're speaking as if you're not lower than that Mao kid. I think you're getting ahead of yourself, Sofony Mendez."

Steeling her nerves, the short-haired woman replied.

"... But those candidates are surely from factions guarded by someone probably at the same level as you. There's no way for you to convince those protégés to surrender a 'wish' to you even if you offer your help."

All traces of smiles and gentleness vanished from the red-dressed woman, replaced by seriousness and condescending look a ruler would give an unworthy subject. A burst of aura came forth from the countess body which made every single item in the place shake and vibrate. Not few delicate decorations tumbled down the floor, breaking into numerous pieces. The smell of blood seemed to permeate in the air.

At that moment, the room seemed to have become alive! And its showing fear towards Bathory!

The one who steered the conversation to the direction the red-haired n.o.ble lady hated suppressed the s.h.i.+vering of her body, brainwas.h.i.+ng herself to not show weakness before the other. However, only she knows how much pressure she was trying to endure that time.

As for the butler, who knows what happened to him? None of the two seated gave a d.a.m.n.

A question was repeated by the unsmiling female monster, "You want me to kill the leader here?"

"Yes." Sofony replied without any hesitation despite feeling so suffocated by the Blood Countess' aura.

"Do you know that you're simply making me want to kill you now because of what you said?"

"I implore Your Ladys.h.i.+p not to scare me into taking my own life. This humble miss is just a lowly Level 5 immoral host. If I kill myself, you would have to search for another person without any faction or not very troublesome to contact."

The uttered phrases sounded like blackmail, but what else could Sofony do to pacify the woman? There was no way she would compromise that easily! In her opinion, even that request was already very tolerant of her! Why the heck was Bathory getting angry? Even if she was a Level 9 monster, she should not expect that everybody would bow down at her feet and offered their everything to her!

"Nothing's fair in this world, Miss Bathory. It's something I already accepted. Even though I felt reluctant to trade a very precious Level 10 wish for a mere Level 8's life, I have no choice but do so because I still want to live," she added in gritted teeth, making a face that she was so pitiful.

Shedding her compa.s.sionate facade of someone from the older generation, Bathory gave her a disdainful look. "Girl, you're one hundred years too early to think of fooling me with that pitiful level of acting."

After being silent for some time, the court lady withdrew her murderous gaze and put on a smile again, "How about we do this? Aren't you only pressed on time due to that comatose friend of yours? You lead the way. I can heal her for you."

Sofony was initially very dumbfounded. Then again, her brain was not so slow to not immediately realize what Bathory meant. Exactly due to it, she angrily chanted in her mind, 'She makes sense, but in the end, she's still h.e.l.lbent on scamming me!!! d.a.m.n RED-HAIRED WITCH!'

As usual, the d.a.m.n devil didn't know when to insert its unwelcomed remarks. The girl secretly gritted her teeth again, annoyed and feeling pressured.

Instead of drowning in anger, she decided to weigh her choices carefully.

'Even though killing the leader and wiping off the organization seemed like a greater gain, when compared to directly rousing Wendy from her sleep, actually the latter sounded better." With mild irritation, she told herself.

In the first place, she had no way of knowing whether Exorcism could really kill the foreign soul inside the wavy-haired girl's brain. The unknown was always scary. That gloomy-faced actor said the connection could at most last for another day. How could she be so sure that vanquis.h.i.+ng the evil spirit would solve the problem?

She took a deep breath and asked herself, 'Do I have to give up the mission now? There's no time limit to worry about, but all our preparation and my allies' efforts would be wasted. Our element of surprise will be for naught if I were to accept Bathory's offer. The next time that we attack, it's not definite that I can still recruit that fool. The enemies will surely prepare against us too. Worse, they'll counterattack at full force.'

'On the other hand, while it seems like we'll be in danger after this, in reality, the world is always dangerous. If I have Wendy cure now though, her life will be guaranteed... This d.a.m.nable witch wouldn't renege on her promise, right?'

"What's your choice, little lady?" Like a she-devil, the other woman's sweet voice echoed in her ears.

Just when Sofony was so conflicted yet leaning more on having the five-hundred-year-old monstress cure Wendy, a familiar voice coming from the door's direction resounded, answering for her.

"So you plan to heal the already healed in exchange for your life?"

Revealed by a door that just suddenly fell off its hinges, a tall man in a black overcoat and grey pants came in marching. He was repeatedly tossing and catching a gold coin in the air. The mature smile on his charming lips formed a contrast to his playful gesture.

Casting his soul-stirring cold eyes towards the red-haired lady, he added. "That sounds d.a.m.nably stupid, Miss Blood Countess. Why don't you ask me first if I will be willing to let you live after you you bullied my woman?"

Wide-eyed, Sofony who felt very shocked by the man's sudden appearance stuttered out, "W-why are you here, Gio?!"
